Purpose

I will try my best to provide detailed info on various cars and what is like to live with them, I have already produced a few for Jaguar-car-forums, I will do my best to be unbiased, but it will be hard for some cars. I will re-produce press releases and copy from other motoring news.

The All-New Mazda CX-5 SUV - The best version of the model ever launched.

  • The all-new Mazda CX-5 delivers new levels of sophistication, style and driver involvement.
  • Priced from £23,695 to £33,195 it builds on the success of the award-winning first generation.
  • On sale from the 30th June, the ten-model UK line-up features SE-L Nav and Sport Nav trim levels.
Building on the extraordinary success of the outgoing CX-5, a car that introduced Mazda’s SKYACTIV technology and KODO: Soul of Motion design philosophy, the all-new Mazda CX-5 has been designed to bring a new dimension of driving pleasure to SUV customers.
With its award-winning combination of style, driving dynamics and efficiency the original Mazda CX-5 changed perceptions in the compact SUV segment. Winning acclaim from customers and media alike, global sales of over 1.5 million mean it now accounts for roughly 25 per cent of Mazda’s global sales volume with more than 32,000 current-generation CX-5s having been sold in the UK since 2012.
Now with enhancements across the board, an all-new interior and a fully-revised body structure the all-new Mazda CX-5 raises the bar even higher, delivering new levels of style, refinement and driving pleasure. Designed under the concept of ‘Refined Toughness’ the second-generation CX-5 features a powerful evolution of Mazda’s front-end design, while sleeker sides and a lower roofline underscore its solid stance and elegant proportions.
Inside, Mazda’s human-centric development ethos delivers an interior that merges meticulous cockpit ergonomics with a sophisticated, high-quality and spacious cabin environment.
A product of Mazda’s ‘Jinba-Ittai’ car-and-driver as one philosophy, the all-new Mazda CX-5 delivers new levels of driver engagement and comfort.
With particular attention paid to reducing noise and vibration within the cabin, the all-new CX-5 provides unmistakably premium levels of comfort and refinement, while at the same time improving on the class-leading handling precision and driver involvement of the outgoing car.
With 15 per cent stiffer torsional body rigidity than the outgoing model, refinements to the steering, suspension and brakes, plus the introduction of G-Vectoring Control (GVC) the all-new Mazda CX-5 is more comfortable, refined and responsive than ever.
Available in two highly-specified trim levels, the ten model UK range starts at just £23,695. Both Mazda’s SKYACTIV-MT six-speed manual and SKYACTIV-Drive six-speed automatic transmissions feature in the range, as does the latest generation of Mazda’s intelligent i-ACTIV all-wheel drive (AWD) system.
Powered by a familiar range of SKYACTIV engines, the 2.0-litre 165ps SKYACTIV-G petrol engine is available in SE-L Nav and Sport Nav trim and is offered exclusively with front-wheel drive and Mazda’s six-speed SKYACTIV-MT manual gearbox.
Making up the bulk of the range, the popular 2.2-litre 150ps SKYACTIV-D diesel is available with front-wheel drive and i-ACTIV AWD and comes with a choice of SKYACTIV-MT or SKYACTIV-Drive gearbox. Sitting at the top of the range, the flagship 2.2-litre 175ps SKYACTIV-D comes exclusively in Sport Nav trim and is equipped with Mazda’s i-ACTIV AWD, and like the lower output diesel, it can be matched to either automatic or manual transmission.
Across both outputs the SKYACTIV-D diesel engines have been enhanced with the introduction of Mazda’s noise reducing Natural Sound Smoother technology, which entails the fitting of a dynamic damper within the pin securing the piston to the connecting rod to reduce start-up and idle reverberation.  In addition Transient Control sharpens throttle responsiveness by more precise control of engine torque with optimised turbo pressure and finer adjustment of fuel injection.
All models feature a generous standard equipment tally that includes LED headlights, auto power-folding door mirrors, dual-zone climate control, DAB radio and a 7” colour touch-screen display with Mazda’s integrated navigation.
Sport Nav cars add to this with a host of premium highlights including a reversing camera, 8-way power adjustable driver’s seat and Smart keyless entry, plus heated front seats and steering wheel.
Offered in a Mazda for the first time, Sport Nav models also feature a power lift tailgate, plus a new head-up display (HUD) that projects directly onto the windscreen and features Traffic Sign Recognition.
Other highlights include two new optional paint colours: Soul Red Crystal Metallic and Machine Grey Metallic. Both colours use Mazda’s unique three-layer TAKUMINURI painting technology, and compared to previous CX-5’s Soul Red Metallic paint, Soul Red Crystal increases brightness by approximately 20 per cent and depth by 50 per cent.
Commenting on the all-new Mazda CX-5 Jeremy Thomson, Managing Director of Mazda Motors UK said, “the CX-5 will go down as a landmark car in Mazda’s history, not only did it introduce SKYACTIV technology and KODO: Soul of Motion design, it also showcased how Mazda could make an SUV that was stylish, great to drive and capable of luring customers from premium badged rivals.
And today the all-new Mazda CX-5 takes this to the next stage, elevating exterior design, cabin quality and refinement to new levels of sophistication, whilst at the same time ensuring Mazda’s love of driving is even more apparent in the handling.”
Adding, “With it arriving in UK dealerships this month I’m sure the all-new Mazda CX-5 will carry on winning over British SUV buyers, especially as increased equipment levels and superb residual values mean it continues to represent great value for retail and fleet customers alike.”

The Mazda6 Sedan celebrates it's fifteenth anniversary, updated to include more luxury.

Mazda6 has redefined the midsize sedan segment with superb driving dynamics, handsome design that stands out among its staid competition and craftsmanship that goes a step above expectations. It has charted its path as the family car for discerning drivers who need the practicality provided by a midsizer but refuse to give up on driving an engaging, enjoyable car.
Now in its third generation, Mazda6 celebrates its 15th anniversary since going on sale internationally, still setting the benchmark for its segment and for the Mazda brand.
Since 2002, Mazda6 has torn through the throngs of ubiquity that define its class and landed in the spotlight as the go-to for those desiring a better, if not more bespoke, option.
Immediately after going on sale in the U.S., Car and Driver magazine named Mazda6 to its 10Best list in 2003, stating that “…the Mazda6 is a spirited, athletic package that takes Mazda’s zoom-zoom ethos into the mainstream.”
Since then, Mazda6 has earned several other 10Best honors among dozens of awards, comparison wins and commendations for its outstanding safety, most recently being awarded both IIHS Top Safety Pick+ and NHTSA Five-Star ratings.
And, yet, Mazda6’s engineers and designers have never been good at leaving well enough alone.
In recent years, Mazda has made dozens of changes that further elevate it among its peers, no longer waiting for mid-cycle refreshes to make meaningful improvements. For 2015, Mazda6 received subtle refinements to what was already a well-received third-generation model after adopting KODO—Soul of Motion design and lightweight, efficient SKYACTIV Technology in its third generation. For 2016, its interior was completely redesigned, implementing a clean, modern design with the latest MAZDA CONNECTTM infotainment interface and segment-exclusive Active Driving Display head-up display technologies. The new interior won a Wards 10 Best Interiors award.
Starting in 2016, models equipped with available full-LED auto-leveling headlights also received a redesigned grille, headlights and tail lights.
For the 2017 model year, Mazda6 added many of the premium touches that were introduced in the all-new Mazda CX-9, including additional sound insulation by way of thicker door seals and laminated front glass and luxuries like available Nappa leather seating surfaces and rear USB charging ports. Mazda6 was also the first vehicle in the U.S. to include G-Vectoring Control, a Mazda-exclusive technology that uses throttle and steering inputs to smooth out steering feel, leading to greater confidence behind the wheel and more sure-footed handling.
Throughout its decade and a half, no matter which generation, Mazda6 has remained true to its mission, serving families who want a midsize car without compromise. Now, as in 2002, Mazda6 continues to over-deliver.

Mazda Motor Co has been named as Manufacturer of the year from Automotive Management Magazine

  • Automotive Management Magazine has named Mazda Manufacturer of the Year.
  • Mazda took the title at AM’s annual award ceremony in London last week.
  • 2017 sees the launch of the all-new Mazda MX-5 RF and the all-new Mazda CX-5.
Mazda has lifted the title of Manufacturer of the Year at the 2017 Automotive Management Awards.
Following the fourth-generation MX-5's unprecedented clean sweep of victories last year – taking the 2016 World Car of the Year, 2016 World Car Design of the Year and 2016 UK Car of the Year awards - it's clear that Mazda's driver-focused approach to its current model range is finding favour with judging panels and the general public alike.
In 2016 Mazda recorded 2.4 per cent year-on-year sales growth with retail sales increasing by 10 per cent in a UK market where total retail sales grew by just 2 per cent, while the launch next month of the all-new MX-5 RF Retractable Fastback will bolster the Mazda range to seven models, including the Mazda2, 2017 Mazda3, Mazda6, and both the CX-3 and CX-5 SUVs.
Mazda maintains a highly focused automotive philosophy which links every model in the company's new-generation line-up.  Its standout KODO - Soul of Motion design approach and its unique SKYACTIV Technology deliver entirely human-centred design and engineering ensuring Mazda’s customers benefit from elegant, refined and efficient cars whichprioritisethe Jinba-ittai car-and-driver-as-one driving experience exemplified by the MX-5.
Commenting on the Mazda brand, Automotive Management's panel of judges said: “They're now a brand of great cars, not just the one. Attractive, reliable and great to drive, if you weren't familiar with the brand, or it was hidden from you, you'd think you were driving one of the premium brands”.
Collecting the award Peter Allibon, Sales Director of Mazda UK said, “We are absolutely delighted to have our unique approach to automotive design and engineering recognised through the winning of such a prestigious award.'  And Jeremy Thomson, Managing Director Mazda UK added  “everything we do at Mazda is dedicated to making things better for our customers and our range of stylish, spirited and we are very happy that our great to drive cars continues to win praise from media and our customers alike.”
