The new Transit custom will spawn a PHEV from 2019, in the mean time, it gets a major update.

  • Ford Transit Custom sets a new standard for the one-tonne van segment with bold new design, all-new cabin interior and ECOnetic series for enhanced fuel efficiency
  • Legendary Transit productivity boosted by ECOnetic variant delivering 148 g/km CO2 emissions;* game-changing EcoBlue diesel powers range, with six-speed auto option
  • New cabin provides ideal mobile office with class-leading stowage, improved comfort and ergonomics, and easy connectivity with SYNC 3 or Device Dock options
  • Advanced technologies include CV-first Intelligent Speed Limiter to help drivers stay within legal limits, and Blind Spot Information System with Cross Traffic Alert
  • New Transit Custom starts production in late 2017 for customer delivery from early 2018; zero-emission capable Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) derivative to launch in 2019
Ford has revealed the new Transit Custom one-tonne commercial vehicle, delivering bold new design, an all-new interior and enhanced productivity to European businesses. New Transit Custom will be available to order later this year, and is scheduled for customer delivery in early 2018.
Powered by the Dagenham-built Ford EcoBlue 2.0-litre diesel engine, Transit Custom has been re-engineered to offer significant new features and capabilities, including a new ECOnetic variant, delivering improved fuel efficiency and 148 g/km CO2 emissions.*
The UK’s best-selling commercial vehicle now sports a bold new front-end design with three-bar Transit grille, a completely new cabin that offers best-in-class stowage, improved comfort and ergonomics, and easy connectivity with SYNC 3 or MyFord Dock options. Further technologies introduced to commercial vehicles for the first time include Intelligent Speed Limiter.
“Transit Custom has been a runaway success since it was introduced, and this new version raises the game once more,” said Hans Schep, general manager, Commercial Vehicles, Ford of Europe. “We have listened carefully to our customers, and delivered a one-tonne van that is even more stylish, even more productive, and packed with smart features.”
The new generation Transit Custom sets the scene for Ford’s next major commercial vehicle innovation, with the introduction of the zero-emission capable Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) derivative scheduled for 2019. The PHEV Transit Custom will begin trials with fleet customers in London later this year.
Introduced in late 2012, Transit Custom quickly established itself as Ford’s top-selling commercial vehicle in the UK and across Europe. Total European sales for 2016 were at 118,000 units - a further 15 per cent increase over the previous year’s record - with more than 50,000 of those sales in the UK alone.
Transit Custom was the first of Ford’s expanded all-new Transit line-up to go on sale – later joined by the Transit Courier, Transit Connect and Transit models – and was a key driver in Ford becoming Europe’s number one commercial vehicle brand in 2015, a leading position it has held ever since.
Ford EcoBlue engine and new ECOnetic variant
The new Transit Custom is powered by the state-of-the-art Ford EcoBlue diesel engine, designed, engineered and built at the Dagenham Engine Plant. It was introduced to the range during 2016 with a choice of 105PS, 130PS and 170PS power outputs, and delivers significant cost of ownership and performance benefits compared to the previous 2.2-litre diesel, with fuel-efficiency improved by up to 13 per cent and low-end torque enhanced by 20 per cent.
The updated model now offers a new ECOnetic variant, available for the 300 Series short-wheelbase van, which comes with a 105PS engine with a unique calibration and Auto-Stop-Start, low rolling resistance tyres, Ford’s innovative Acceleration Control feature, and a fixed 62 mph speed limiter. The ECOnetic variant delivers 148 g/km CO2 emissions and 49.6 mpg, a further six per cent improvement over the most efficient current vehicle.
The new Transit Custom continues to offer commercial vehicle operators the same breadth of capabilities from a vehicle line-up that includes two roof heights, two wheelbase options, a gross vehicle mass range from 2.6 tonnes to 3.4 tonnes offering payloads up to 1,450kg, and bodystyles including van, kombi and double-cab-in-van.
The new model maintains the Transit reputation for delivering class-leading load-carrying ability, with innovative loadspace features such as the load-through hatch in the bulkhead for extra-long items, and the integrated roof rack that can be folded away when not in use.
Dynamic styling and cabin for the perfect mobile office
New Transit Custom has a dynamic and professional new front-end appearance that shares the same design DNA as Ford’s latest passenger cars, with a high-mounted trapezoidal grille and dynamic, slim headlamps. The latest lighting technologies are available, with high series models featuring distinctive new signature LED daytime running lights and powerful HID Xenon headlamps.
The cabin interior is completely new, with an instrument panel based on Ford’s new interior design philosophy – pioneered on the all-new Fiesta – which offers a user-centric layout that is influenced by consumer interactions with smart devices and tablets.
Based around strong horizontal design elements that emphasise the width of the cabin, the new instrument panel features hard-wearing materials, and is packed with practical touches designed for drivers who treat the cabin like a mobile office during long working hours in their vehicle.
The new design provides class-leading interior stowage, with up to 25 litres of space offered in the instrument panel, including three convenient open bins on its upper surface with space for clipboards or mobile devices, and generous glove box stowage capable of storing hanging A4 files in the lower closed compartment.
Further new practical features include a fold-out cup holder beneath the gear lever, adding to the cup holders and 2-litre bottle holders at each end of the instrument panel. The door panels have also been completely redesigned for improved stowage and usability, with three large stowage spaces and a practical new grab handle integrated with the decorative door trim.
For the driver, all-new displays and control panels have been designed for enhanced ergonomics and ease of use, and high-series models feature a floating, tablet-inspired eight-inch colour touchscreen with Ford’s SYNC 3 communications and entertainment system that can be operated with pinch and swipe gestures.
SYNC 3 will enable Transit Custom drivers to control audio, navigation and connected smartphones using simple, conversational voice commands. Simply by pushing a button and saying “I need fuel”, “I need a coffee”, or “find an address”, drivers can locate nearby fuel stations, cafés, or the location of their next job. The system is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto™.
For vehicles not equipped with the larger displays, the MyFord Dock in the centre of the instrument panel provides the ideal location for drivers to mount, store and charge their smartphone, MP3 player or satellite navigation system. USB and 12-volt power sockets are located in the upper stowage bin in front of the driver, and alongside the gear lever, for easy device charging.
Comfort is enhanced by new seat designs featuring revised foam padding and geometry for optimised support, while trim materials have been completely renewed throughout the cabin, with a focus on quality, durability and appearance. This includes seat fabrics that have been subjected to Ford’s toughest-ever abrasion tests.
Advanced technology and driver assistance features
The new Transit Custom introduces a sophisticated range of driver assistance features, and is the first commercial vehicle to offer Intelligent Speed Limiter, which enables automatic adjustment of maximum vehicle speed to remain within legal limits, using the Traffic Sign Recognition system to detect speed limit signs.
The new model also offers Ford’s Blind Spot Information System with Cross Traffic Alert, which warns drivers reversing out of a parking space of vehicles that may soon be crossing behind them, ideal for vans that often have restricted rearward visibility.
These new features add to the comprehensive suite of technologies already available for Transit Custom, including the Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection emergency braking system, Lane Keeping Alert, Side Wind Stabilisation and Adaptive Cruise Control.
The latest specification also includes the smooth and responsive six-speed SelectShift automatic transmission, and a unique-to-segment rear air suspension system on Kombi M1 models that delivers a supple, controlled and level ride across a wide range of load conditions.
Customers can also specify a new Upfitter Interface Module, which allows aftermarket conversions and accessories to access data from the vehicle’s electrical systems, so that they can be operated and controlled more efficiently using real-time vehicle data.
Range-topping Sport series gets fresh new look
The new Transit Custom range is headed by the dynamic 170PS Sport series, available in a wide choice of eight different body and seating options including van, kombi and double-cab-in-van models in both short and long wheelbase versions.
The Sport’s signature twin bonnet stripes and exterior body kit have been redesigned for the new model, including distinctive new two-tone stripes in black with orange or silver accents. The sporting style continues inside the cabin with partial leather Ebony interior trim that combines striking new embossed fabric inserts and leather bolsters.

Following its UK debut at Goodwood Festival of Speed last month, Alfa Romeo has revealed the UK pricing and specification for its first ever SUV, the all-new Alfa Romeo Stelvio, with prices starting from £33,990 OTR.  The Alfa Romeo Stelvio launches with an exclusive version for 2017 – the Milano Edizione to offer customers even greater functionality and style, while providing exceptional value for money.
Four trim levels will be available from September including Alfa Romeo Stelvio, Super, Speciale and the limited production Milano Edizione. At launch, drivers will be able to choose between two engine versions – 2.2-litre 210hp diesel Q4 AWD and 2.0-litre 280hp petrol Q4 AWD – combined with an ZF eight-speed automatic transmission as standard.
The 2.0-litre 280hp petrol Q4 AWD engine offers best in class acceleration, going from zero to 62mph in just 5.7 seconds and onto a top speed of 143mph, while returning 40.4mpg* on the combined cycle and emitting just 161g/km* CO2
The 2.2-litre 210hp diesel Q4 AWD meanwhile, gives out 127g/km* CO2 and returns 58.9mpg* on the combined cycle, while still registering a top speed of 134mph and accelerating from zero to 62mph in 6.6 seconds.
From September the  Alfa Romeo Stelvio will also be available to order with a 2.2-litre diesel engine, producing 180hp and available in both Q4 all-wheel-drive or rear-wheel-drive, and a 2.0-litre petrol engine, with 200hp and Q4 all-wheel-drive.
Featuring perfect 50/50 weight distribution, Alfa Romeo Q4 all-wheel drive architecture, best in class power-to-weight ratios and innovative engine and driver technologies, the Alfa Romeo Stelvio embodies everything a true Alfa Romeo should.
Not only that, but the Alfa Romeo Stelvio can boast at being the lightest mid-size SUV in the sector thanks to its lightweight body structure and carbon fibre driveshaft, coming in at just 1,604kg for the 2.2-litre diesel 180hp RWD and up to 1,660kg for the 2.0-litre petrol 280hp Q4 AWD, only adding an extra 56kg for the all-wheel-drive system (AWD).
Finding the perfect balance between driving experience and safety, the Alfa Romeo Stelvio was recently awarded a coveted five-star Euro NCAP rating with a score of 97 per cent for the protection of adult occupants; the highest score in its category.
Credited for its host of innovative safety systems, which come as standard across the full range, the Alfa Romeo Stelvio boasts Alfa Romeo’s segment-first Integrated Brake System, Autonomous Emergency Brake with pedestrian detection, Blind Spot Monitoring, Forward Collision Warning and Lane Departure Warning.
The all-new Alfa Romeo Stelvio stands out from the crowd thanks to its distinctive Italian design, expressed through its proportions and technical architecture leaving the impression of sophisticated simplicity and quality surfaces, both inside and out.  From launch customers will have a choice of three trim levels and a limited production Milano Edizione.
Alfa Romeo Stelvio
The entry trim level ‘Stelvio’ offers a comprehensive standard specification. Standard exterior features include 17-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels, LED rear lights and a double lateral chrome exhaust pipe.
Inside, the cabin focuses on driver satisfaction with dual-zone climate control, Alfa™ D.N.A. rotary driving mode selector, a 3.5-inch TFT colour cluster instrument panel, UConnect™ 8.8-inch display infotainment system with DAB plus Bluetooth/AUX multimedia connectivity, an eight-speaker audio system and two front and two rear USB ports.
A multi-function leather steering wheel, houses all the main controls so the driver can focus on the task at hand.
Alfa Romeo Stelvio Super
The standard specification on the Alfa Romeo Stelvio trim level is supplemented on the Super version with a host of exclusive interior and exterior features. Exterior wise, the Super trim level adds 18-inch 5-spoke alloy wheels and front parking sensors.
The interior of the Super features an 8.8-inch infotainment system with 3D navigation system featuring European maps and 7-inch TFT instrument cluster, as well as a two-tone leather dashboard and leather and cloth upholstery.
Alfa Romeo Stelvio Speciale
Building on the Super trim, the Speciale features 19-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels with red brake calipers, chrome window surround, Bi-Xenon 35W headlights and power folding door mirrors. Inside the cabin, the Speciale benefits from heated front leather seats with six-way adjustment and dedicated four-way power lumbar controls.
Aluminium shift paddles on the steering column co-ordinate with the aluminium interior finishing’s and metal pedals to complete the look.
Alfa Romeo Stelvio Milano Edizione
The Alfa Romeo Stelvio launch edition, Milano Edizione, offers customers even more functionality and style, while providing exceptional value for money. From 1910 to 1960, the iconic Alfa Romeo Badge encompassed the word ‘Miliano’ in its design, the birthplace of the brand, the origins of which are echoed in the Milano Edizione.
The standard specification, adding to the Speciale trim, includes sporty leather seats, a 10 speaker Sound Theatre, 20-inch V-Spoke alloy wheels, keyless entry and an Athermic windscreen.  Privacy glass with black gloss window surround, electrically adjustable and heated front seats and a rear-view camera with dynamic grid lines enhance the standard specification.

The All-New Mazda CX-5 SUV - The best version of the model ever launched.

  • The all-new Mazda CX-5 delivers new levels of sophistication, style and driver involvement.
  • Priced from £23,695 to £33,195 it builds on the success of the award-winning first generation.
  • On sale from the 30th June, the ten-model UK line-up features SE-L Nav and Sport Nav trim levels.
Building on the extraordinary success of the outgoing CX-5, a car that introduced Mazda’s SKYACTIV technology and KODO: Soul of Motion design philosophy, the all-new Mazda CX-5 has been designed to bring a new dimension of driving pleasure to SUV customers.
With its award-winning combination of style, driving dynamics and efficiency the original Mazda CX-5 changed perceptions in the compact SUV segment. Winning acclaim from customers and media alike, global sales of over 1.5 million mean it now accounts for roughly 25 per cent of Mazda’s global sales volume with more than 32,000 current-generation CX-5s having been sold in the UK since 2012.
Now with enhancements across the board, an all-new interior and a fully-revised body structure the all-new Mazda CX-5 raises the bar even higher, delivering new levels of style, refinement and driving pleasure. Designed under the concept of ‘Refined Toughness’ the second-generation CX-5 features a powerful evolution of Mazda’s front-end design, while sleeker sides and a lower roofline underscore its solid stance and elegant proportions.
Inside, Mazda’s human-centric development ethos delivers an interior that merges meticulous cockpit ergonomics with a sophisticated, high-quality and spacious cabin environment.
A product of Mazda’s ‘Jinba-Ittai’ car-and-driver as one philosophy, the all-new Mazda CX-5 delivers new levels of driver engagement and comfort.
With particular attention paid to reducing noise and vibration within the cabin, the all-new CX-5 provides unmistakably premium levels of comfort and refinement, while at the same time improving on the class-leading handling precision and driver involvement of the outgoing car.
With 15 per cent stiffer torsional body rigidity than the outgoing model, refinements to the steering, suspension and brakes, plus the introduction of G-Vectoring Control (GVC) the all-new Mazda CX-5 is more comfortable, refined and responsive than ever.
Available in two highly-specified trim levels, the ten model UK range starts at just £23,695. Both Mazda’s SKYACTIV-MT six-speed manual and SKYACTIV-Drive six-speed automatic transmissions feature in the range, as does the latest generation of Mazda’s intelligent i-ACTIV all-wheel drive (AWD) system.
Powered by a familiar range of SKYACTIV engines, the 2.0-litre 165ps SKYACTIV-G petrol engine is available in SE-L Nav and Sport Nav trim and is offered exclusively with front-wheel drive and Mazda’s six-speed SKYACTIV-MT manual gearbox.
Making up the bulk of the range, the popular 2.2-litre 150ps SKYACTIV-D diesel is available with front-wheel drive and i-ACTIV AWD and comes with a choice of SKYACTIV-MT or SKYACTIV-Drive gearbox. Sitting at the top of the range, the flagship 2.2-litre 175ps SKYACTIV-D comes exclusively in Sport Nav trim and is equipped with Mazda’s i-ACTIV AWD, and like the lower output diesel, it can be matched to either automatic or manual transmission.
Across both outputs the SKYACTIV-D diesel engines have been enhanced with the introduction of Mazda’s noise reducing Natural Sound Smoother technology, which entails the fitting of a dynamic damper within the pin securing the piston to the connecting rod to reduce start-up and idle reverberation.  In addition Transient Control sharpens throttle responsiveness by more precise control of engine torque with optimised turbo pressure and finer adjustment of fuel injection.
All models feature a generous standard equipment tally that includes LED headlights, auto power-folding door mirrors, dual-zone climate control, DAB radio and a 7” colour touch-screen display with Mazda’s integrated navigation.
Sport Nav cars add to this with a host of premium highlights including a reversing camera, 8-way power adjustable driver’s seat and Smart keyless entry, plus heated front seats and steering wheel.
Offered in a Mazda for the first time, Sport Nav models also feature a power lift tailgate, plus a new head-up display (HUD) that projects directly onto the windscreen and features Traffic Sign Recognition.
Other highlights include two new optional paint colours: Soul Red Crystal Metallic and Machine Grey Metallic. Both colours use Mazda’s unique three-layer TAKUMINURI painting technology, and compared to previous CX-5’s Soul Red Metallic paint, Soul Red Crystal increases brightness by approximately 20 per cent and depth by 50 per cent.
Commenting on the all-new Mazda CX-5 Jeremy Thomson, Managing Director of Mazda Motors UK said, “the CX-5 will go down as a landmark car in Mazda’s history, not only did it introduce SKYACTIV technology and KODO: Soul of Motion design, it also showcased how Mazda could make an SUV that was stylish, great to drive and capable of luring customers from premium badged rivals.
And today the all-new Mazda CX-5 takes this to the next stage, elevating exterior design, cabin quality and refinement to new levels of sophistication, whilst at the same time ensuring Mazda’s love of driving is even more apparent in the handling.”
Adding, “With it arriving in UK dealerships this month I’m sure the all-new Mazda CX-5 will carry on winning over British SUV buyers, especially as increased equipment levels and superb residual values mean it continues to represent great value for retail and fleet customers alike.”
