The newly-launched Nissan NP300 Navara has added to its list of accolades by being named the Best Pick-Up in the 2016 Diesel Car Top 50 – a list of the 50 best cars on sale today.

More than 200 new cars were tested by the Diesel Car judging panel, with thousands more over preceding years, creating a definitive ‘Top 50’ list which is a departure from previous years where winners were named across ten categories. The Nissan NP300 Navara was the only pick-up included in the list of 50 models.

The Nissan NP300 Navara can be specified with either a double cab or a king cab and a 190PS twin-turbo or 160PS single turbo version of the new 2.3-litre dCi engine. There’s also a choice of two or four-wheel drive and a 6-speed manual or 7-speed automatic transmission.

Many of the model’s advanced safety features – including a number of first-in-class technologies – are incorporated across the range as standard. This includes Forward Emergency Braking on all double cab models; driver, passenger, side, knee and curtain airbags; electronic Limited Slip Differential (eLSD); Hill Start Assist and Hill Descent Control (on 4WD models).

The model’s robust chassis also introduces a host of new features, including an all-new five-link rear suspension for the Double Cab model and an impressive load bed, which is 67mm longer than the previous model.

The all-new Nissan NP300 Navara has been named Best Pick-Up at the prestigious Fleet World Awards in London. A judging panel at Van Fleet World found the newcomer to be the stand-out contender among the spate of recent pick-up launches and said it represents a ‘giant leap forwards’ in terms of engines, suspension and technology.

Dan Gilkes, Editor of Van Fleet World, said: “We were expecting big things of the NP300 Navara and Nissan did not disappoint.

“The big talking point was always going to be the move to a 5-link rear suspension on double-cab models, that literally transforms the road holding and ride quality.

“However new NP300 Navara is about far more than that. With high powered, economical engines, a choice of transmissions and a host of new technologies to assist and entertain the driver, the model has really thrown down the gauntlet to other manufacturers.

“Add in a considerably lower total cost of ownership and you are looking at a winning package.”

Launched earlier this year, the Fleet World Award is the latest in a growing list of honours for the NP300 Navara – a model which has redefined its sector.

It has already won the International Pick-up Award 2016 while leading industry website Vans A2Z also named it pick-up of the year and gave its unique 5-link rear suspension system an innovation award.

Receiving the latest award, Mark Wheeler, LCV and Relationship Director at Nissan Motor GB, said: “We are delighted the NP300 Navara has won this prestigious award. It’s yet more proof that the model really has set a new benchmark in the pick-up sector.”

Nissan has released a statement on it's position with regards to teh EU Referendum and whether teh UK will remain in or out.

Nissan today released a statement regarding its position on the UK's forthcoming EU referendum.

The global car manufacturer - which employs 8,000 people in the UK across its manufacturing, engineering and design facilities, and a further 32,000 indirectly through dealerships and its supply chain - said that while this was ultimately a matter for the British people to decide, the company believed it made the most sense for jobs, trade and costs for the UK to stay within Europe.

While the company will not be pro-actively supporting any political campaign in the run up to the EU referendum, Nissan Chairman and CEO Mr. Carlos Ghosn said:

"We are a global business with a strong presence in Europe. We have a rich heritage in the UK with 30 years of manufacturing and engineering presence, and remain committed to building and engineering cars in the country.  Last year we produced more than 475,000 vehicles in the UK – 80 percent of which are exported.

"Our preference as a business is, of course, that the UK stays within Europe - it makes the most sense for jobs, trade and costs. For us, a position of stability is more positive than a collection of unknowns.

"However, this is ultimately a matter for the British people to decide.

"While we remain committed to our existing investment decisions, we will not speculate on the outcome nor what would happen in either scenario."

He added: "We obviously want the Nissan UK plant and engineering centre to remain as competitive as possible when compared with other global entities, and each future investment opportunity will be taken on a case by case basis, just as it is now."

Nissan Europe grows in 2015 to give yet another record year of sales, and with new cars due this will grow further.

Nissan has today announced that it recorded European best-ever sales of 715,623 vehicles in 2015, with December sales totaling 61,823 units. 

Nissan achieved a market share in Europe of 4 percent in 2015, maintaining the record market share in 2014. This consistently strong market share marks a nearly 50 percent increase from 2009 levels of 2.7 percent. Together with the Datsun brand, market share is 4.2 percent.

The brand's European sales were bolstered by the ever-popular crossover offering with Qashqai, Juke and X-Trail sales – all up on 2014 figures. The Nissan Pulsar, built in Nissan's Barcelona plant, is also making steady ground, with sales up 50 percent from 2014.

Nissan is still leading the way in important new technologies – with more to come in 2016 both in electric cars and in autonomous driving vehicles, the future of transportation. The pioneering Nissan Qashqai crossover continues to go from strength to strength with more than 248,000 customers choosing its style, efficiency and advanced technologies in 2015.

The Nissan LEAF continues to lead the electric vehicle segment globally and sold more than 15,000 cars in Europe, in line with 2014 sales. The new 30KWh LEAF is about to hit the showrooms in Europe and will give customers 26 percent more autonomy proving Nissan's leadership in zero emission field.

For the sixth year running Nissan's Sunderland factory built over 400,000 vehicles, cementing its position as the UK's most productive automotive plant.

Nissan has gained market share in more than 75 percent of the European markets in which it operates with market share records in some countries, notably Spain, Italy, France and Germany.

Nissan's LCV Range takes the Editors Choice award for it's five year warranty.

Nissan’s Light Commercial Vehicle range rounded off a fantastic year after the manufacturer’s innovative five-year warranty landed a prestigious honour at the What Van? Awards in London today.

The What Van? Editor’s Choice award went to Nissan’s market-leading five-year, or 100,000 mile, Manufacturer Warranty for its range of petrol and diesel trucks and vans.

The warranty, introduced on new vehicles purchased from September 1^st 2015, covers a comprehensive array of component and chassis elements, from powertrain and battery through to paintwork, such is the confidence Nissan has in its LCV range.

It wasn’t the only success Nissan enjoyed at the awards today. The all-electric Nissan e-NV200, which costs just two pence per mile to run, was also Highly Commended in the What Van? Green Award.

The all-new Nissan NP300 Navara has won the coveted International Pick-up award 2016 at a ceremony in Lyon, France.

Nissan’s recently-launched pick-up fought off stiff competition from  the  Mitsubishi L200 and Ford Ranger with judges praising its superior on-road and off-road capabilities, strong engine performance  and payload capacity.

The new NP300 Navara underwent the rigorous International Pick-up testing process, each being judged for its off-road ability, on-road performance and its value for money. They were also tested on their ability as a workhorse, which included comparing towing capabilities.

The new NP300 Navara delivers new levels of crossover-inspired comfort and refinement while maintaining the Navara’s acclaimed off-road ability, durability and load capacity.

Its robust chassis introduces a host of new features, including an all-new five-link rear suspension for the Double Cab model and an impressive load bed, which is 67mm longer than the previous model.

The wealth of innovative and affordable  technology such Around View Monitor (AVM) and Forward Emergency Braking (FEB), designed to further improve driveability and practicality, are also unique to the pick-up market.

Nissan has today announced full pricing and specifications for the all-new NP300 Navara – the rugged, dependable and capable workhorse with crossover-style comfort and class-leading technology that will propel the brand back to the top of the pick-up segment.

Available in Nissan showrooms nationwide from January 2016, the new model, which builds on Nissan’s 80-year pick-up heritage, will be available in five distinct trim grades – Visia, Acenta, Acenta+, N-Connecta and Tekna – and will be priced from £18,376*.

Customers of the all-new NP300 Navara will have the flexibility to tailor their vehicle so that it can meet the requirements of the toughest job or the most demanding of lifestyles. The pick-up can be specified with either a double cab or a king cab and a 190PS twin-turbo or 160PS single turbo version of the new 2.3-litre dCi engine. There’s also a choice of two or four-wheel drive and a 6-speed manual or 7-speed automatic transmission.

Many of the new model’s advanced safety features – including a number of first-in-class technologies – are incorporated across the range as standard. This includes Forward Emergency Braking on all double cab models; driver, passenger, side, knee and curtain airbags; electronic Limited Slip Differential (eLSD); Hill Start Assist and Hill Descent Control (on 4WD models).

Developed with the aim of delivering Nissan crossover-style comfort and refinement to the pick-up sector, even entry-level versions of the NP300 Navara are competitively specified with an appealing array of on-board equipment.

Visia models, for example, feature manual air conditioning (4WD), 5-link rear suspension (DC), Bluetooth telephone integration,  steering wheel mounted audio controls, an AUX socket for MP3 connectivity, a USB port, three 12v sockets, automatic headlights with ‘follow me home’, cruise control and speed limiter (DC).

Step up into the Acenta, and customers will enjoy a number of styling enhancements, including 16” alloy wheels and chrome exterior trim, as well as the Nissan Intelligent Key system with engine start/stop button and a 5” HD full colour TFT screen.

Acenta+ meanwhile, adds the more powerful 190PS 2.3-litre dCi engine, 18” alloy wheels, automatic air conditioning with dual zone climate control, rear colour reversing camera (shown in the rear view mirror), side steps, electric folding heated door mirrors and rear privacy glass.

Moving up the range, the new N-Connecta trim grade puts entertainment to the fore, with the addition of the NissanConnect 2.0 7” touchscreen satellite navigation and entertainment system. This incorporates features including DAB digital radio, a rear colour reversing camera, Bluetooth audio streaming, app integration and live traffic updates.

Topping the range, the Tekna – priced from £24,293* – adds Nissan’s Around View Monitor, which uses cameras to give the driver a bird’s eye view of the car, as well as rear parking sensors, leather seats with heated front seats, roof rails and LED headlights.

In addition, all models in the range benefit from a full manufacturer five-year/100,000 mile manufacturer warranty – providing additional peace of mind as standard.
