The Bentley 41/2-litre Blower emerged from a particularly gruelling tussle with the Bugatti Type 43 and Mercedes-Benz SSK, taking 50 per cent of the votes in the 1914-1929 category. The McLaren F1 had no such trouble in its 1990s showdown with the Jaguar XJ220 and Bugatti EB110, though, with 80 per cent of voters putting it through.
Voting for the overall winner takes place throughout September ahead of the event, where all finalists will be on show in all their glory. The greatest supercar of all time will then be revealed in a spectacular multi-million-pound display.

Bugatti’s long-term partner in the United Kingdom, H.R.Owen Bugatti, has had the showroom, which is exclusively devoted to the French luxury brand from Alsace for the first time, completed in the new Bugatti brand design.

This is the first dedicated Bugatti showroom to be opened in the UK and will be the only place in the UK to view and order the new Bugatti Chiron.
The showroom is located on Bruton Street in Mayfair, adjacent to H.R. Owen’s famous Bentley dealership – Jack Barclay and other dealerships of the company and delivers the perfect environment in which to view the new Bugatti and discuss personalisation options with the factory trained team. It allows customers a private and secluded buying experience, out of view from the outside world, and allows them to get up close with the car.
The showroom features the very latest Bugatti branding, with the legendary Bugatti blue playing a prominent part in the modern and clean styling around the room. H.R. Owen Bugatti is furnished with items from the recently launched Bugatti Home Collection.
The specially designed armchairs are made using the finest leather and blue carbon fibre, the same high-spec materials that feature in Bugatti’s cars. As well as the present and future, the showroom will also reflect Bugatti’s history and heritage, with a selection of art installations and sculptures that celebrate the brand beyond the cars. H.R. Owen Bugatti is more than just a car showroom, and is designed to convey a shared passion for the Bugatti brand and everything it stands for.
The launch of the new showroom is an important moment for both Bugatti and H.R. Owen, with senior figures from both companies present at the official opening. Dr Stefan Brungs, Member of the Board of Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S. for Sales, Marketing and Customer Service, and Anita Krizsan, H.R. Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse World Record Edition for sale at H.R. Owen in London.

  • Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse World Record Edition for sale at H.R. Owen in London and on display at the Jack Barclay Bugatti showroom in Berkeley Square
  • The world’s fastest roadster, with a record top speed of 254.04mph
  • H.R. Owen is the only place to buy the new Bugatti Chiron in the UK when it goes on sale later this year
  • H.R. Owen Bugatti Brand Director Anita Krizsan has sold more Veyrons than anyone else in Europe
H.R. Owen has a unique opportunity to buy the world’s fastest roadster, the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse World Record Edition, with a low mileage example going on sale at the flagship showroom in London. The eye-catching black and orange car is currently available for viewing at the dealership in Berkeley Square, which is the only official UK dealer for Bugatti sales and servicing.

Now that production has stopped of the Bugatti Veyron, this is a unique opportunity to acquire one of the most desirable cars ever made. The open-top example up for sale at H.R. Owen is finished in Black Carbon Fibre, with Orange painted Arancia Carbon Fibre details.
The black and orange theme continues inside, with black and orange leather combining with Arancia Mira Alcantara. The colour scheme was conceived for the car’s record-breaking speed attempt, which took place in April 2013 when it reached a speed of 254.04mph (408.84km/h). This run made the 1200PS (1184bhp) car officially the world’s fastest open top car.
This car is the ultimate incarnation of the Veyron. Of the 450 Veyrons made, there were only 150 roadsters produced and of those, only eight were world record editions, making this a truly rare car.
This particular version is a UK car, and was originally registered in October 2013. It has only had the one owner since then, and has covered just 1130 miles in its lifetime.
With the Veyron only ever being made in limited numbers – only 450 were made over nine years of production – values of this car are set to be strong in the future. This Grand Sport Vitesse is offered for sale at £1,795,000.
The Veyron remains the most exclusive Bugatti ever made, until the release of the Chiron later this year. When the Chiron goes on sale, it will only be available in the UK at H.R. Owen’s London showroom.
Anita Krizsan, Bugatti Brand Director for H.R. Owen, says: “It was a pleasure to sell this car to its first owner the first time around, and we are delighted that our unique relationship with our clients means that we have the opportunity to help the car find its second owner. This is a fantastic example of an iconic car, which has been meticulously cared for in its life so far. It will make for a wonderful investment for collectors and enthusiast alike.”
Anita is a leading authority on all things to do with the brand, and is one of the most successful Bugatti sales people in the world. She sold a record 11 Bugatti Veyrons in 2012.

Despite the massive cost savings at Volkswagen Group, the next Bugatti is definitely coming soon.

Volkswagen Group's Bugatti will survive for at least one more supercar generation in the wake of the emissions scandal.
Bugatti said it will introduce a new supercar soon. Interest in the successor of the sold-out Veyron is "phenomenal" among North American customers, sales chief Stefan Brungs said after opening revamped showrooms in Manhattan and Miami. More outlets will follow in Munich, Monaco and Tokyo.

Bugatti's new showroom concept is a "fundamental investment in the future of the brand," Brungs said in a statement on Friday.
VW's widening scandal over rigged diesel engines and understated carbon dioxide emissions has drawn scrutiny over whether the company will stick to extravagant operations such as Bugatti as the parent company plans wide-ranging spending cuts to become leaner and more efficient.
Cleanup will cost at least 8.7 billion euros ($9.3 billion), Volkswagen has said. CEO Matthias Mueller said last week the group will scrutinize its vast lineup of more than 300 vehicles and weed out the least profitable.
Gold Veyron
Profitability was never the opulent, highly-engineered Veyron’s strong suit. Though the two-seat sports car sold for an average of 2.3 million euros, the cost of developing and building it -- in everything from gold and titanium to porcelain -- meant Volkswagen may have lost about 4.6 million euros on each Veyron it sold, according to estimates from analysts at Sanford C. Bernstein.
A spokeswoman for Bugatti declined to comment on speculation over the company’s prospects, saying that like all brands in the group, it needs to watch its costs. Bugatti has already started showing the Veyron successor to selected customers and will unveil it to everyone else in the near future, she said.
VW bought the rights to the brand founded by designer Ettore Bugatti in 1998, aiming to make a car powerful enough to drive faster than 400 kilometers (250 miles) per hour and civilized enough for a trip to the opera. In February it sold the 450th and final Veyron, an open-top Grand Sport Vitesse variant with 1,200 horsepower.
VW has hinted since then that a successor is coming -- the next iteration will be even faster, brand chief Wolfgang Duerheimer said at the Frankfurt auto show in September.
The Friday announcement is the first confirmation that Bugatti will survive the cuts.

Bugatti thanks its millions of fans across the globe with a new virtual product for the Playstation GT Game.

  • Bugatti releases the first design renderings of the virtual project for PlayStation® video racing franchise Gran Turismo®
  • The car’s design celebrates Bugatti’s racing history and is based on state of-the-art motor sport technology
  • A tribute to the Bugatti victories in Le Mans in 1937 and 1939
Bugatti fans, petrol heads and gamers have reason to look forward to the 66th International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt. Specifically for the motor show, Bugatti has transformed a virtual project into tangible reality.

For the French super sports car brand will be presenting its virtual concept Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo, which it developed in cooperation with Polyphony Digital Inc., creator of the Gran Turismo video game franchise, as a real show car. Now Bugatti has published the first digital renderings of the car.

The design of the virtual race car is celebrating Bugatti’s racing history and is based on state-of-the-art motor sport technology. The project is the brand’s tribute to its great racing tradition of the 1920s and 1930s and its victories in Le Mans 24-hour races.

“The Bugatti design team normally works only for the exclusive and very distinguished circle of the brand’s customers.

Now Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo has given us the opportunity, for the first time, to do something special for our fans as well,” explained Achim Anscheidt, the head of Bugatti Design. “When the target group suddenly grows from 450 Veyron owners to several million fans, gamers and high performance aficionados, it is a very exciting matter. We had a lot of fun with this project.”

The designers drew their inspiration from the brand’s successful racing tradition. Bugatti enjoyed great success in racing in the 1920s and 1930s. The historical theme for the design of the Vision Gran Turismo virtual modern race car was, in particular, the Bugatti Type 57 Tank and its victories in the 24-hour Le Mans race in 1937 and 1939.

Consequently, the Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo makes its appearance in the classic blue two-tone finish of the Type 57 G Tank, the winning car in 1937, simultaneously evoking the colours of the historical French race cars of that period. Since then, blue has also been Bugatti’s brand colour.

Although the Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo will be racing in a class in which the cars generally have little or no relationship to real road vehicles, and their designs therefore are far more extreme and performance-oriented than that of a street-legal car, two things were important to the design team: First, the virtual car should look unmistakably like a Bugatti and completely embody the brand values of ‘Art, Forme, Technique’, and second, every part of the vehicle should have a real function.

Consequently, the virtual race car was developed in close cooperation with the Bugatti engineers and is based on cutting-edge racing technology and precise aerodynamic analyses.

“In the Bugatti Veyron, we have developed a super sports car which unites two characteristics, the beauty and the beast,” explained Anscheidt. “The Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo embodies the performance beast. It has a more radical and extreme style. This is a thorough-bred Bugatti for the virtual race track, not for the street.”

“Under no circumstances did we want to create a retro-style race car in memory of the successes in Le Mans, but rather to transfer the feeling and mood of these special moments in Bugatti’s history to a modern vehicle,” said Sasha Selipanov, the Head of Exterior Design Creative Development.

“As an acknowledged Gran Turismo fan, it is a great adventure for me to bring a brand which was once so successful in racing back to the virtual track.”

“We are taking Bugatti back to its roots,” he added. The Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo’s expressive form language is dominated by large convex surfaces in contrast to concave transitions and strong lines. This lends the vehicle styling precision and surface tensions of the highest quality. The proportions of the car are uncompromisingly athletic and shaped to meet the car’s performance goals.

The designers have unmistakably transferred the most important characteristics of Bugatti’s design DNA into the styling of the virtual race car. Consequently, the side view of the Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo is characterised by the famous Bugatti line. And the virtual race car has also been furnished with the most recognisable symbol of a Bugatti, the horse shoe on the front grille.

It is placed in the centre of the central front air intake as three-dimensional sculpture and supports the structure between the wings and the aerodynamic front splitter. The horse shoe is flanked by the eight-eyed headlights, which were developed especially for the Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo.

Another typical Bugatti design element is the centre fin, which originated on the legendary Type 57 Atlantic from 1936.

The designers employ two versions of the fin on the Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo: one on the front and rear wings, where they contribute to the appearance of the vehicle and the other running the length of the roof, where it makes an important contribution to the car’s dynamic stability.

An interesting detail on the roof is the NACA air intake, which, with its contrasting light blue finish, not only has a strikingly beautiful shape but also makes a crucial contribution to the control of the aerodynamic conditions on top of and at the rear of the car without compromising the effectiveness of the impressive rear wing.

The car has a strong trailing edge which provides great longitudinal-dynamic stability, exhausts the hot air from the engine compartment and, no less important, communicates to the pursuer in the video game that a Bugatti is getting away from him.

“We wanted to create a project as realistic as possible for our fans and put a real Bugatti in the virtual world of the PlayStation video game franchise,” explained Frank Heyl, the head of Exterior Design for Production Development at Bugatti.

“Every design characteristic is defined by its function. Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo is the perfect symbiosis of engineering and aesthetics.”

Just as in the exterior design, no concessions were made in the design of the car’s interior. “This is an uncompromising race car,” emphasised Etienne Salome, the head of Interior Design at Bugatti.

The interior is designed to meet racing requirements. All indicators, displays and controls are located where a race-car driver expects them – easy to read and easy to reach.

“We wanted to develop a virtual race car for our fans which is a genuine Bugatti down to the last detail and radiates the unrestricted values of the brand,” the designers said. “We hope that the gamers will have just as much fun racing the car as we did in developing it.”

The Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo show car will be displayed from 17–27 September 2015 at the Bugatti exhibit in hall 3.0 of the IAA grounds in Frankfurt am Main.

Bugatti celebrated in style at this years Concours d'Elegance at Pebble Beach.

  • The most successful racing car ever built, the Type 35, and the fastest production car in the world, the Veyron 16.4 Super Sport, are two of the record holders featured in the Bugatti line-up
  • Other highlights include a Type 57SC Roadster and Type 55 Super Sport Roadster
  • Super sports cars past and present form the basis of the brand’s future and the next Bugatti super sports car
  • Bugatti complements the sold-out Veyron fleet with the “Bugatti Certified” program
Bugatti staged a parade of special vehicles from its history as part of this year’s Monterey Car Week (10 to 16 August). The French luxury brand presents two record holders at the prestigious automotive events “The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering” on Friday and “Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance” on Sunday.

The first is the Type 35, which is the most successful racing car of all time with nearly 2,000 victories and podiums. The second is the Veyron 16.4 Super Sport, which drove 431.072 km/h (268 mph), making it the fastest production car in the world.

Another two exceptional examples of Bugatti’s super sports car heritage will also be included: a Type 57SC Roadster and a Type 55 Super Sport Roadster.

The French car maker’s attendance at this event underlines its commitment to the ideals of company founder Ettore Bugatti, which finds a modern interpretation in the brand values of “Art, Forme, Technique”.

In keeping with tradition, all vehicles will be exhibited in blue, the historic racing colour of France. Bugatti has also shown its commitment to preserving the Veyron’s status as a coveted collector’s item and investment through the “Bugatti Certified” program.

“Monterey Car Week is an event that Bugatti will not miss under any circumstances,” according to Wolfgang Dürheimer, President of Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S.

“Bugatti is one of the acclaimed highlights of the annual event, which features the most exclusive and valuable classic automobiles in the world. We meet a huge number of customers and admirers of our brand. North America is one of our key markets.”

Bugatti successfully completed the first chapter of its recent history with the sale of the 450th and final Veyron earlier this year.

When Bugatti introduced this vehicle full of superlatives a decade ago, it created a new vehicle segment. Never before had there been a production sports car with more than 1,000 horsepower under the hood and a top speed in excess of 400 km/h (248 mph).

Bugatti currently holds two world speed records, one for the fastest production car at 431.072 km/h, set in 2010, and another for the fastest production roadster, which reached 408.84 km/h (254 mph) with its roof down in 2013.

The market segment that Bugatti created was also new, because the starting price of €1 million was a real sensation at the time. The average price of the vehicles sold to date was €2.3 million.

“The Veyron is an amazing success story in the automotive world”, said Dürheimer. “Now, having sold all 450 vehicles, a new chapter has begun for the Veyron fleet, which we will actively support with the “Bugatti Certified” program.

It will enable us to achieve our commitment to maintaining the high standards of Bugatti for the complete lifecycle of a Veyron, both for the brand and for our customers.”

Bugatti launched the “Bugatti Certified” program in 2014 as a way to provide a full service for owners of a new or used Veyron. This includes the technical inspection and preparation of vehicles, technical updates and an extended warranty of at least one year.

With the “Bugatti Certified” seal, the vehicle owner is not only guaranteed visibly and technically flawless condition of the vehicle, but also the certainty of having contributed to the long-term value of the car.

In addition, the French luxury brand is using its appearance in Pebble Beach to look to the future. Dürheimer continues, “Bugatti will showcase amazing vehicles to represent its impressive super sports car tradition. We intend to continue this tradition as a matter of course.”

“The next Bugatti will once again be the epitome of a super sports car and will redefine the segment”, Dürheimer announced. “The vehicle will be in a class of its own, with impressive power statistics, performance and design. We plan to stay at the top.”

The Bugatti line-up in Pebble Beach – a parade of superlatives

Type 57SC Corsica Roadster – one of the fastest roadsters of its era

Bugatti has undoubtedly brought a highlight of its history to Monterey in the shape of the Type 57SC Corsica Roadster (chassis 57531).

The two-seater roadster, whose body was engineered by renowned French company Corsica, belonged to Sir Malcolm Campbell, who played a key role in co-designing the body and took ownership of the car on 22 April 1937.

The model is the sporty version of the standard Type 57 touring car and was launched at the Paris Motor Show in 1935. The chassis was 32 cm shorter and sat lower, the “S” in the model name stands for “Surbaissé”, which is French for “lowered”. The “C” stands for “Compressor”.

As a successor to the Type 55, the last of which was delivered in July 1935, only 43 Type 57S vehicles were manufactured until production ceased in 1938. The most interesting detail of this car was undoubtedly the rear axle, which passed through the chassis rather than riding under the longitudinal frame members, as in the standard Type 57.

The front axle was also new. It was split down the middle and can be considered a precursor of front single-wheel suspension.

In terms of powertrain technology, the S-versions differ from the standard versions as the 57S engines have dry sump lubrication. Instead of a standard coil ignition with a vertical distributor, a Scintilla magneto driven by the left camshaft was housed in the bulkhead.

The Type 57S engine also had a higher compression ratio of 8:5:1 rather than 6:7:1, resulting in greater power. With a displacement of 3,257 cm3 at 5,500 rpm, the engine delivered an impressive 170 PS.

The top speed was 200 km/h, which was extremely impressive for a roadster at the time. The car nicknamed “Bluebird” has been in the possession of a Californian car collector since October 2002.

Type 55 Super Sport Roadster – the acceleration marvel

Bugatti will also be showcasing a Type 55 Super Sport Roadster (chassis 55208) at the Pebble Beach weekend. The Type 55 succeeded the Type 43 in 1931 as a touring car with a Grand Prix engine. Ettore Bugatti used the relatively lightweight Type 51 engine and the extremely rigid chassis from the Type 47, which was capable of holding a heavy engine.

In the process, he combined the ingredients to create one of the most finely honed Bugatti chassis. The brakes and wheels on the 55 were identical to those of the Type 51. The transmission was carried over from the Type 49, but the Type 55 had a newly developed housing featuring long cantilevers mounted on the side members to further increase the rigidity of the chassis.

The acceleration of the Type 55 was impressive, taking less than ten seconds to get from 0 to 100 km/h. At 5,500 rpm its 10-cylinder engine achieved a solid 135 PS.

This vehicle is still considered to be an unbeatable combination of Grand Prix racing car performance with the luxurious and comfortable driving characteristics of a touring car. A total of 38 Type 55s were built between 1932 and 1935, of which 28 are still in existence.

The displayed chassis 55208 was ordered by Parisian Bugatti agent Dominique Lamberjack in February 1932 and delivered in April of the same year.

The buyer was the amateur racing driver Charles Brunet, who commissioned a “Roadster Luxe” body by coachbuilder Georges Gangloff and actively competed in races with it. The vehicle has been in the possession of the Mullin Automotive Museum in Oxnard, California since 2012.

Type 35 – the most successful racing car in automotive history

The third vehicle in the Bugatti parade is a Grand Prix racing car in its purest form: a Type 35 from 1926. With over 2,000 victories and podium positions, the Type 35 is one of the most successful racing cars in automobile history.

Between the mid-1920s and 1930s, it won all the major races, including five consecutive victories in the Targa Florio, which was the toughest road race in the world at the time.

In keeping with the philosophy of “Race on Sunday, sell on Monday”, company founder Ettore Bugatti sold countless Type 35s directly to wealthy customers following successful race weekends.

This business idea brought commercial success for the Molsheim car maker. In its time, the Type 35 was the only car that could be driven both on the race track and on the roads.

The Type 35 is powered by a 120 PS 2.3l in-line eight-cylinder engine. Its 750 kilogrammes are distributed perfectly across the axles (50 to 50 per cent), giving the car incredible dynamics. The vehicle on display in Monterey comes from the car manufacturer’s own archive.

Veyron 16.4 Super Sport – the fastest production car in the world

Bugatti will also showcase the Veyron 16.4 Super Sport, the youngest member of the super sports car range. The car was manufactured at the company’s historic Molsheim headquarters in 2011. In 2010, the 1,200 PS Super Sport set a world record for the fastest production car with a top speed of 431.072 km/h, and remains unbeaten to this day.

The Veyron 16.4 Super Sport is the 1,200 PS derivative of the 1,001 PS Veyron 16.4, which marked the beginning of Bugatti’s most recent success story in 2005. Only 450 Veyrons were built, of which 300 were coupés and 150 were roadsters.

As of the start of this year, all vehicles have been sold. No other automotive manufacturer has previously managed to sell an exceptional vehicle of this kind in a comparable price/volume range.
The development of the Veyron was one of the most significant technical challenges ever undertaken by the automobile industry.

It was the first production car with over 1,000 PS, the first to exceed 400 km/h and accelerate from nought to one hundred km/h in less than three seconds – while remaining suitable to drive to the opera in comfort and style in the same configuration.

Even ten years after it was launched, the Veyron is a superlative in every respect. When developing the Veyron, the designers also strove to continue the aesthetic tradition of Ettore Bugatti. And they certainly succeeded.

The exterior has a modern style which incorporates Bugatti’s classic design features. The Veyron is an example of timeless automotive design and at the same time an automotive work of art. The vehicle shown here is on loan from a customer in the USA.
