Volvo cars continues to grow throughout the world, and with new models this wil continue.

Volvo Cars, the premium car maker, remains firmly on course for another record year in retail sales after posting an 8.2 per cent increase for the first six months of the year. Total sales in the first half of 2017 amounted to 277,641 cars, compared with 256,563 cars a year earlier.
Global retail sales in June came in at 54,351 cars, an increase of 5.7 per cent compared with the same month last year.
Strong demand for the new 90 series cars continues to be an important factor in Volvo's positive sales performance, while the first-generation XC60 remains the best-selling model overall.
The United Kingdom recorded sales of 5,018 in June, up 4.0 per cent over the same month in 2016. Sales for the first half of 2017 amounted to 24,519 cars, an increase of 8.4 per cent versus the same period last year. The XC60 is the best-selling model in the UK so far this year, followed by the V40, XC90 and the V90.
Jon Wakefield, Managing Director of Volvo Car UK, said: "These fantastic figures are a result of all the hard work from everyone at Volvo Car UK and our dealer network, and show that we're well on track for another record-breaking year of sales and growth for Volvo in the UK."
The Asia Pacific region reported sales growth of 27.3 per cent in June to 13,769 cars. Sales in China, Volvo's largest market, increased by a very healthy 30.9 per cent to 10,113 cars.
For the first six months, growth in the Asia Pacific region amounted to 22.6 per cent, while China was up 27.6 per cent for the period. The result was supported by strong demand for the locally produced XC60, S60L and S90 models.

First-half sales in the EMEA region were up by 6.6 per cent to 164,128 cars sold, as the region continued to see strong demand for the new V90 and XC90, as well as the XC60. Strong-performing markets include Sweden, the United Kingdom, France and Germany. June sales in the region were up 3.9 per cent.
The Americas region reported sales of 41,277 cars for the first six months of 2017, of which 34,102 were in the United States. The most popular model in the region is the XC60, followed closely by the XC90.

Volvo, from 2019, will end cars that have only an internal combustion engine.

Volvo Cars, the premium car maker, has announced that every Volvo it launches from 2019 will have an electric motor, marking the historic end of cars that have only an internal combustion engine (ICE) and placing electrification at the core of its future business.
The announcement represents one of the most significant moves by any car maker to embrace electrification, and highlights how, over a century after the invention of the internal combustion engine, electrification is paving the way for a new chapter in automotive history.
“This is about the customer,” said HÃ¥kan Samuelsson, President and Chief Executive of Volvo Cars. “People increasingly demand electrified cars, and we want to respond to our customers’ current and future needs. You can now pick and choose whichever electrified Volvo you wish.”
Volvo Cars will introduce a portfolio of electrified cars across its model range, embracing fully electric cars, plug-in hybrid cars and mild-hybrid cars.
It will launch five fully electric cars between 2019 and 2021, three of which will be Volvo models and two of which will be high-performance electrified cars from Polestar, Volvo Cars’ performance car arm. Full details of these models will be announced at a later date.
These five cars will be supplemented by a range of petrol and diesel plug-in hybrid and mild-hybrid 48-volt options on all models, representing one of the broadest electrified car offerings of any car maker.
This means that there will in future be no Volvo cars without an electric motor, as pure ICE cars are gradually phased out and replaced by ICE cars that are enhanced with electrified options.
“This announcement marks the end of the solely combustion engine-powered car,” said Mr Samuelsson. “Volvo Cars has stated that it plans to have sold a total of 1m electrified cars by 2025. When we said it we meant it. This is how we are going to do it.”
The announcement underlines Volvo Cars’ commitment to minimising its environmental impact and making the cities of the future cleaner. Volvo Cars is focused on reducing the carbon emissions of both its products as well as its operations. It aims to have climate-neutral manufacturing operations by 2025.
The decision also follows this month’s announcement that Volvo Cars will turn Polestar into a new separately branded electrified global high-performance car company. Thomas Ingenlath, Senior Vice President Design at Volvo Cars, will lead Polestar as Chief Executive Officer.

Volvo see's sales, revenues and profits all raise in the first half of the year, January-June

Volvo Cars, the premium car maker, has reported strong growth in operating profit of SEK6.8bn in the first half of 2017, compared with SEK5.6bn for the same period last year, after taking market share across Europe and experiencing a robust sales increase in China.
Revenues rose to SEK99.1bn from SEK84.2bn in the first six months of 2016, while the operating profit margin improved to 6.8 per cent from 6.6 per cent a year earlier, even as the company continues to invest heavily in new cars and technologies.
Sales for the first six months of the year increased 8.2 per cent compared with the same period last year to 277,641 cars. The first-half increase in sales means Volvo Cars remains firmly on course for a fourth consecutive record year.
“We have reported strong profits at the same time as making ongoing investments in our transformation,” said HÃ¥kan Samuelsson, president and chief executive. “Our momentum continues to build.”
During the first half of 2017, the company took market share in the EMEA region, following healthy growth in several key markets. Sales were up by 6.6 per cent during the period.
In the Asia Pacific region and China in particular, Volvo outperformed the market. Sales in the region increased by 22.6 per cent, while China sales were up 27.6 per cent.
In the US, Volvo Cars expects to report solid full-year growth after a strong second half of the year. Delivery constraints affected first-quarter sales, but a return to growth during the second quarter and the impending start of delivery of the new XC60 mid-size SUV point to a stronger finish.
“Globally, we expect the pace of growth generated in the first half of the year to continue. We are confident we will report another record year in terms of sales,” said Mr. Samuelsson.
Later this year, Volvo Cars will launch its all-new XC40, its first entry into the fast-growing small premium SUV segment, completing the company’s SUV line-up

The polestar brand works it's magic on the upcoming new XC-60 Sports Utility Vehicle.

The Polestar optimisation improves five key areas of the powertrain while retaining the Volvo warranty, class-leading emission levels, consumption of 2.1 l/100 km and a pure electric range of 45 kilometres for the T8.

Experience from more than two decades on the track with Cyan Racing, the motorsport partner of Polestar, has transformed the engine performance, throttle response, off-throttle response, gearshift speed and hold, taking the XC60 to a new level of driving pleasure.
”Our goal is to create usable performance in everyday driving situations for Volvo owners who want an enhanced driving experience,” said Henrik Fries, Vice President, Research and Development at Polestar. “The new XC60 has provided us with an excellent base to work on with a dynamic chassis and a state of the art powertrain. With the Polestar optimisation, it makes the new Volvo XC60 a true drivers’ car.”
Two key features of the optimisation are the improved engine performance and gearbox functionality.
The enhancements for the engine are made to provide greater power and torque in the mid-range of the engine, the area most often used in everyday-driving, for example when joining a highway, overtaking or exiting a corner.
The gearbox shifts faster, gearshift points have been calibrated to utilise the optimised mid-range engine performance, and the gear-hold function maintains the same gear when cornering with high lateral g-force in order to avoid unsettling the balance of the car.
A total of five XC60 models are available* for Polestar optimisation, including the T8, T6, T5, D5 and D4.

Volvo and it's Performance arm, Polestar will become a totally new electrified brand

Volvo Cars, the premium car maker, has announced that Polestar, its performance car arm, is to become a new separately-branded electrified global high performance car company, marking the latest stage in Volvo’s ongoing transformation.
In order to drive the development of the brand, Volvo Cars also announced today that Thomas Ingenlath, Senior Vice President Design at Volvo, will assume the position of Chief Executive Officer at Polestar. Mr Ingenlath has been the inspiration behind Volvo’s award winning design renaissance in recent years.

“Thomas heading up the Polestar organisation shows our commitment to establishing a truly differentiated stand-alone brand within the Volvo Car Group,” said HÃ¥kan Samuelsson, president and chief executive of Volvo Cars.
Mr Ingenlath will be joined at Polestar by Jonathan Goodman, who will become Chief Operating Officer. Mr Goodman moves from his position as Senior Vice President Corporate Communication at Volvo Cars.
“With 25 years of commercial experience in the automotive industry, Jonathan is ideally placed to provide operational experience alongside Thomas’s vision, building on the experienced management team that will drive the Polestar brand forwards” said Mr Samuelsson.
“Polestar will be a credible competitor in the emerging global market for high performance electrified cars. With Polestar, we are able to offer electrified cars to the world’s most demanding, progressive drivers in all market segments.”
Volvo Cars acquired 100 per cent of Polestar Performance in July 2015, having worked together in motorsport since 1996. In the future, Polestar will offer Polestar branded cars that will no longer carry a Volvo logo, as well as optimisation packages for Volvo’s range of cars under the Polestar Engineered brand.
Polestar will enjoy specific technological and engineering synergies with Volvo Cars and benefit from significant economies of scale as a result of its connection to Volvo. These synergies will allow it to design, develop and build world beating electrified high performance cars.
Mr Ingenlath said: “I am really excited to take up the challenge of establishing this exciting brand, developing a fabulous portfolio of bespoke products and channelling the passion we have throughout the Polestar team. The next chapter in Polestar’s history is just beginning.”
Polestar will make further announcements about its products, industrialization and commercial plans in the autumn

The brand of Volvo, continues to grow at a great rate in all markets of the world.

Polestar, the performance brand of Volvo Cars, has reached the milestone of one hundred thousand powertrain optimisations for Volvo cars around the globe since its introduction. The milestone is reached as sales hits an all-time high in the first five months of 2017 with more than 12,000 cars optimised - a growth of over 30 per cent compared to last year.
High demand on the latest generation Polestar optimisations for the Volvo Cars Drive-E powertrain is a key factor to the increase, with the all-new Volvo XC60 set to be included in the optimisation range from July.
“This is an important milestone for Polestar and proof of the increasing demand from performance-oriented Volvo customers around the world,” said Johan Lindqvist, Head of Global Sales at Polestar. “We are well on our way to our best year in terms of sales and we have further exciting products just around the corner.”
The most popular Volvo model for optimisation is the XC60, closely followed by the XC90 and V60, with China, Sweden and the United States as the top three markets in terms of sales volumes.
The latest generation Polestar optimisation affects five key areas of the powertrain in standard Volvo road cars, including engine performance, throttle response, gearshift speed, gear hold functionality and off-throttle response. The changes are made to increase driving pleasure and performance, based on learnings from thousands of laps on racing circuits all over the world by Cyan Racing, the motorsport partner of Polestar.
All changes of the Polestar Optimisation are made with certified emissions, fuel consumption, service intervals and Volvo warranties unchanged.
