UK SALES JUNE - RENAULT - Huge Growth from the French giant continues in June and the year to date.

  • Renault car and van sales surpass 48,000 in first half of 2015 – up 16.3 per cent on same period last year
  • Renault’s volume growth is almost double that of the market
  • Renault car sales up 14.9 per cent on same period last year to 2.7 per cent of the car market
  • Renault van sales up 21.4 per cent to 11,169 vehicles to 5.8 per cent of the van market
  • Renault Group sales - including Renault cars, Renault vans and the Dacia brand - records 62,476 sales in H1 with a share of 4.0 per cent, volume up 15.2 per cent
Renault UK car sales were up 14.9 per cent for the first six months of 2015 – outpacing the car market growth of 7.0 per cent, according the official figures released today from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).

Sales of 6,654 cars in the month of June secured a year-to-date first-half performance of 36,840 Renault cars – a market share increase of 0.2 percentage points against the same period in 2014.
Renault’s B-segment range - the Clio hatchback, the Captur crossover and 100% electric ZOE - accumulated 4,868 sales in June, meaning a rise of 12.2 per cent in June of this year compared to 2014. This contributed towards a total of 27,264 B-segment sales for the first six months of 2015, representing a 12.2 per cent increase on the same period in 2014.
In an increasing electric vehicle market that was up 83.0 per cent in the first half of the year compared to 2014, sales of Renault’s electric vehicle range, comprising of ZOE, Twizy and Kangoo Z.E., rose by 145.9 per cent across the same period, with 949 EVs sold. ZOE contributed strongly to this performance, with 767 examples of the all-electric hatchback being sold – a 244.0 per cent increase on the first six months of 2014.
Renault’s van range maintained its momentum in the LCV market, amassing 11,169 sales across the first six months of 2015.  This was 21.4 per cent up on the same period last year, increasing Renault’s share of the van market by 0.1 percentage point to 5.8 per cent.
The Renault Group, which comprises Renault cars, vans and Dacia, has experienced an unprecedented period of ahead-of-the-market growth over the last two years. This growth has continued into 2015 with 62,476 Group vehicles being sold in the first six months of the year for a market share of 4.0 per cent – up 15.2 per cent, almost double the total market growth rate of 8.3 per cent.
Commenting on the results, Ken Ramirez, Renault UK Managing Director, said: “The extraordinary Renault Group growth has been fuelled by customer demand for our stunning new car and van models, supported by our dealer network’s commitment to customer satisfaction. We are on track to deliver our GO5+ mid-term plan objectives, leveraging a showroom-full of already-successful new products, with Clio, Captur, ZOE, Twingo, Trafic and from this summer the All-New Renault Kadjar crossover which will further boost the brand appeal entering into an important segment of the market.”
