Purpose

I will try my best to provide detailed info on various cars and what is like to live with them, I have already produced a few for Jaguar-car-forums, I will do my best to be unbiased, but it will be hard for some cars. I will re-produce press releases and copy from other motoring news.

The International Ford Show will have a bespoke Ford auction, with most models up for auction.

The famous blue oval will be seen everywhere in Barons’ Sandown Park saleroom on April 30th, as Barons stages a dedicated Ford auction as part of the International Ford Show.
Barons has a fine selection of entries that really showcase the diversity of the Ford offering over the decades, from charming little Anglias to potent, American-built muscle cars and from a 1949 Thames van to an F150 Supercharged pick-up originally owned by David Beckham.

Ford’s muscle car heritage will certainly make itself felt at Sandown Park. The iconic Mustang is represented by four examples, including a rare right-hand drive 1971 Convertible 302. This unique machine was built in Dearborn as a special order for the UK, as a New Year’s present for the MD of Ford. (£30,000-£34,000). The sale also includes a 1965, ex-ICS Series racing car which has run very successfully in the Aston Martin Owners Club Intermarque Challenge (£55,000-£70,000).
Other representatives of Ford’s production from the other side of ‘the pond’ include a mighty 1969 Talladega (£32,000-£35,000) a 1972 Gran Torino Sport (£9,000-£11,000) and a rare, RHD 1963 Galaxie 500 Convertible.  All chrome and sweeping lines, this is a fantastic cruising car (£8,000-£10,000).
Ford’s commercial vehicle and pick-up side is highlighted through a number of entries. The 2002 F150 Supercharged Harley Davidson edition pick-up is a relatively modern example, with the interesting provenance of having originally been owned by David Beckham (£10,000-£12,000).  The 1958 F1 SWB pick-up is highly original, almost ‘time-warp’ (£10,000-£12,000), while the 1958 Ranchero V8 pick-up is a spectacular example of 1950s fins and chrome styling (£11,000-£14,000). In contrast, the 1949 Thames Van E83W is a charismatic and very British little machine. It has just one owner on the V5C, and was recently discovered having been tucked away unused for 20 years (£12,000-£15,000).
Numerous variations on the Cortina theme are on offer at Barons, including two Crayford Convertible conversions (£18,000-£22,000 and £7,000-£9,000), a handsome 1977 Ghia Mk 4 (£3,500-£4,500), an exceptionally rare Cortina De Tomaso (£20,000-£25,000) and a superb 1963 Mk1 Consul Cortina (£7,000-£9,000).
Two stately Consul Farnham Estates will also go under the hammer at Sandown Park. The 1960 example was supplied new to South Africa. It is highly original and in splendid condition (£17,000-£20,000). The 1957 Hi Line example is one of only two known to survive worldwide. It has an extremely rare Raymond Mays cylinder head and Handa overdrive (£17,000-£20,000).
Fans of Fiestas and Escorts won’t be disappointed either, with several on offer, from XR3i Cabriolets and RS Turbos to a sporty Fiesta XR2.

A very special Range Rover Sport first owned by David Beckham will be offered by Classic Car Auctions.

A very special Range Rover Sport first owned by David Beckham will be offered by Classic Car Auctions (CCA) in its sale on 5th December at the Warwickshire Exhibition Centre.
The 2007 car was exclusively designed and upgraded for the ex-England football captain by Kahn Conversions at a cost of £100,000. It’s now offered for sale at auction, estimated at between £23,000 and £25,000.

This car is powered by a throaty 4.2 litre supercharged V8 petrol engine and on the outside presented in Beckham’s favourite black with a striking Kahn body kit and black five spoke alloy wheels.
With every optional extra conceivable included, inside the Range Rover features a unique interior with hand-stitched quilted leather seats, good enough to please Victoria, twin rear screens for Brooklyn and Romeo to play their PlayStation and a bespoke Genesis sound system. There is also plaque bearing the moniker "Designed for David Beckham", as well as the Beckham name embroidered into the floor mats.
The car has covered just over 62,000 miles and offers a superb driving experience. First registered with the number plate "DB1001" the history file includes a speeding summons in the name of David’s sister Joanne, to whom he subsequently gifted the car with the V5C listing David as the first owner and the current vendor as the second.
Commenting on the car, classic car specialist at CCA, Arwel Richards, said: “This amazing personalised Range Rover with its impeccable provenance offers a unique future investment opportunity. David Beckham is arguably one of the most famous personalities on earth, and certainly a titan of sport. Recent sales of celebrity owned cars have far exceeded the true market values of contemporary models and so we expect great excitement around the sale.”
David isn’t the only Beckham to lend a hand in designing a Range Rover. Notably his wife Victoria helped support the design of the hugely popular Range Rover Evoque, perhaps inspired by the additions to this very car.
Arwel added: “Everyone should get the chance to drive and own a supercharged petrol Range Rover at some point, so why not one driven by one of the icons of the 21st Century?”

Latest Poll puts Prince Harry as the best passenger, Harry Styles has dropped down.

In a poll conducted to celebrate the launch of the fashion-inspired special edition SEAT Mii by MANGO city car, it seems that the women of the UK have very clear ideas about who they want to have travelling alongside them.

Prince Harry rises to the top, with a quarter of those questioned wanting the handsome Royal next to them as they drive around the city. Some things don’t change though, as David Beckham shows his undying appeal, coming a close second with 21%. Victoria on the other hand didn’t fair so well, near bottom with 6%.

It seems no one wants to take the chance of having their driving judged, with Simon Cowell getting a mere 8%. The big shock is so-called ‘dream boy’ Harry Styles, who received a measly 5%, which goes to show that looks don’t always count. Embattled PM David Cameron can find no comfort in the fact that he gained only 3% of the vote, though some might say ‘as expected’.

Jennifer Lawrence leads the way with 18% of those asked choosing the Hunger Games star as their ultimate female car companion. Amazingly, Prince Harry’s sister-in-law Kate Middleton (17%) beat BeyoncĂ© (10%) of those polled. Perhaps UK women are hoping Kate will spill the beans on her Royal brother-in-law.

When questioned about the age-old driving battle of the sexes, the poll goes on to show that women are more confident than they have ever been about their motoring abilities, with 70% considering themselves to be far more skilled drivers than the men in their lives.

And to add insult to injury to the men who still think they’re King of the road, 49% of women believe they have a better sense of direction than their male counterparts.

David Beckham becomes Brand Ambassador for Jaguar Cars in China.

  • British sporting icon David Beckham to front new marketing campaign across China
  • Jaguar commissions Peter Lindbergh for new Beckham campaign photography
David Beckham has joined Jaguar as a brand ambassador and will support significant forthcoming Jaguar product launches in China. British sporting icon Beckham will feature in above-the-line marketing campaigns for the brand in one of its most significant international markets.
Bob Grace, Jaguar Land Rover China Managing Director, said: “We are absolutely thrilled that David will be an ambassador for Jaguar in China. David Beckham is a Briton whose achievements mean he has global popularity and he is someone who embodies contemporary British style and sophistication. He is a truly modern, British individual with a genuine passion for design, innovation, performance and driving.”
As part of a long-term partnership, former international footballer Beckham will star in a series of print adverts and TV commercials exclusively in China.

David’s role will initially see him feature alongside the new Jaguar F-TYPE CoupĂ©, a sports car that is already regarded as a modern classic and one that is the perfect expression of Jaguar’s vision of modern British style and elegance. His role will develop and will see him feature in many Jaguar brand and product communication campaigns in the coming years, including those for the Jaguar XJ, the company’s award winning large luxury saloon.
On the start of this new partnership, David commented: “I’ve always been an admirer of Jaguar – from the styling and design to the feel and roar of the engine, every element feels uniquely British. I love the classic E-Type of the 60s and today this legacy is alive in the phenomenal F-TYPE CoupĂ©, a car that epitomises British craftsmanship. It’s an honour to support a brand with such an amazing heritage and I look forward to being part of Jaguar’s exciting future in China.”
The print creative material to be used in this ambitious new marketing campaign is revealed exclusively today. Renowned fashion photographer and filmmaker Peter Lindbergh was commissioned by Jaguar to produce exclusive campaign imagery. Peter has worked closely with David Beckham in the past and their involvement in the Jaguar campaign will see the two figures continue their collaborative relationship. Recognised for the distinctive cinematic quality of his work, Peter has also shot iconic images of some of the world’s most famous cultural icons.
The new F-TYPE Coupé will be a prominent feature of the first phase of the campaign. The new F-TYPE Coupé is the most dynamically capable, performance-focused, production Jaguar ever made and is headlined by the F-TYPE R Coupé, a 550PS/680Nm 5.0-litre V8 supercharged sports car like no other. The all-aluminium F-TYPE Coupé is the embodiment of the uncompromised design vision of the award-winning C-X16 concept. Other Jaguar models, including XF and XJ saloons will also feature in the Beckham campaign to present the full brand line-up to the Chinese consumer.
The print campaign will appear in magazines and on billboards across China, with a TV advertising campaign appearing later in the year.
