Bentley Motors has launched the company’s 2017 trainee recruitment campaign with 60 positions available for apprentices, undergraduates and graduates to start in autumn 2017

Applications are now open at www.bentleycareers.com until November 27^th, with vacancies covering commercial areas including Sales and Marketing, Human Resources, Finance and Purchasing, as well as the traditional Engineering and Manufacturing opportunities.  

Commenting on the latest recruitment drive, Marlies Rogait, Member of the Board for Human Resources, said:

Bentley has recently received national recognition for its future talent and skills development programmes after being named as a Top Employer for the fifth consecutive year.

Bentley’s apprenticeship programme, with 22 positions available, offers an invaluable way of gaining recognised qualifications while undertaking key training at Bentley, for three or four years, dependent on which area the apprentice is working in.  

The majority of apprentices will be undertaking the manufacturing programme, learning skills within areas such as wood, paint and mechatronics. The first year of their programme will include theoretical learning at South Cheshire College, before working in practical areas of manufacturing at Bentley.  

The graduate scheme, offering 13 vacancies, is a two-year development programme where recruits are given the opportunity to work on business projects, working in a specific department, or across a number of functions.

The undergraduate scheme, of which there are 25 places, is a 12-month development programme focused on undergraduate degree students looking to complete a year out in industry as part of their studies.

In a further sign of commitment to future talent, Bentley is playing a pivotal role in the recently opened University Technical College in Crewe. Focused on Engineering and Design, the school offers an inspiring education for 14-18 year olds seeking a pathway to future employment.

Bentley Motors today launches its 2016 apprentice recruitment campaign with 42 positions available on the latest intake, starting with the company in September this year. 

Applications open from 12^th March at www.bentleycareers.com for six weeks, with an open day to be held on the same day at Bentley’s headquarters in Crewe, where prospective apprentices can find out more.

Bentley has created over 100 apprentice opportunities in the past two years, maintaining the company’s future talent focus. Commenting on the latest recruitment drive, Marlies Rogait, Member of the Board for Human Resources, said:

Bentley’s apprentice scheme has been running for more than 40 years and offers an invaluable way of gaining nationally recognised academic and vocational qualifications, while undertaking tailored development at Bentley.         

Nearly half of the new apprentices (20) will be starting the recently developed manufacturing apprenticeship programme. The curriculum is designed and delivered by Bentley Master Trainers, during which apprentices will develop skills in areas such as leather, wood, paint, mechatronics and production maintenance.     

A further 22 apprentices will be based in business areas at Bentley’s headquarters in Crewe, including Engineering, Sales and Marketing, Purchasing and Human Resources.

Bentley’s Apprentice of Year in 2015 was Matthew Farrell, a former Production Apprentice, and now Production Engineer at Bentley Motors. Matthew summed up why he found the Bentley apprenticeship scheme so valuable:

“The Apprenticeship was a great opportunity to really pursue my technical, academic and personal development goals in a structured way. From learning about manual engineering operations to developing the next generation of designs for body and trim, each part of the programme helped me to enhance my professional and personal skills. I have been able to own my development goals and benefit from structured input and feedback from peers and managers along the way.”

Bentley Motors was recently named one of Britain’s top employers by the Top Employers Institute for the fifth consecutive year. Bentley – awarded for its commitment and dedication to the 4,000 colleagues working at the Crewe headquarters - was particularly praised for its focus on the talent and personal development of its workforce.     

Bentley is also playing a pivotal role in bringing a University Technical College to Crewe later this year. Focused on Engineering and Design, the college will offer an inspiring education for 14-18 year olds seeking a pathway to future employment.

Bentley recently completed in the 17th jochpass Oldtimer Memorial and Historic-Rallye.

Bentley Motors enjoyed an exciting and successful weekend at the 17^thJochpass Oldtimer Memorial and Historic-Rallye in Bad Hindelang, Germany.

Four historic Bentleys competed in the world-renowned classics event between 9 and 11 October, including the Team ‘Blower’, R-Type Continental, Speed 6 and a Bentley 4,5 Litre Le Mans. 

About 18.000 enthusiastic spectators were in attendance to admire the 280 classic cars on show. The drivers travelled from all over Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the Netherlands.

We were delighted to have raced our historic models this weekend to classic car enthusiasts and Bentley fans. Our appetite for competition is one of the reasons we go racing and our growing motorsport programme now successfully competes on four continents.”

The scenic rallye took the drivers on course around the picturesque town of Bad Hindelang. The Oldtimer Memorial race ran a 7,9 kilometre route to the which covered an ascent of over 360 metres and 105 turns up the mountain turns.  

Robert Engstler, Regional Director Europe at Bentley Motors commented: “The Jochpass Oldtimer Memorial is just the starting point for Bentley’s heritage race participation. We are already committed to classic rallies all over Europe in 2016, including the Monaco Historic Grand Prix, Le Mans Classic, Ennstal-Classic and Kitzbueheler Alpenrallye.”

At the same time, the final race of the Blancpain Sprint Series took place in Zandvoort, The Netherlands. Bentley’s latest race car, the Continental GT3, and the Bentley Team HTP Motorsport celebrated the Driver’s Title for Maximilian Buhk and Vincent Abril.

Bentley’s EXP 10 Speed 6 makes its debut today in China at 2015 Auto Shanghai. The concept shows the future direction of luxury and performance using the finest materials and advanced hybrid technology.

EXP 10 Speed 6 is a British interpretation of a high performance two-seater sportscar. From the racing success of the company’s early years to the international motorsport success of today, ‘speed’ is part of Bentley’s DNA. This inspiration is expressed throughout the EXP 10 Speed 6, where iconic Bentley design cues are fused with progressive craftsmanship techniques and modern technologies.

New style and technology for luxury grand touring

Bentley is unveiling a suite of new luxury design upgrades and features to its Continental family of grand tourers in Shanghai.

The Bentley Continental GT is refreshed with a complement of new exterior design features, aimed at sharpening the on-road presence of the iconic Grand Tourer. A new front bumper combines with a smaller radiator shell and new, more pronounced fenders to lend a more assertive and confident stance to the front of the car. Enhancing the GT’s iconic silhouette further, three new paint colours are available.

The upgrades continue inside the luxury cabin of the Continental range with a new and contemporary interior including new seat patterns, brightware elements, driver instruments, steering wheel and gear paddles. New material options and hide colours complete the refresh. Onboard WiFi, providing connectivity to all handheld devices in the car is also now available across the Continental family.

The mighty 6.0-litre twin turbo W12 engine receives a power and torque increase, from 575 PS (567 bhp / 423 kW) and 700 Nm (516 lb.ft) to 590 PS (582 bhp / 434 kW) and 720 Nm (531 lb.ft), to maintain the model’s reputation of effortless performance. The power upgrade is accompanied by improvements to fuel economy and efficiency.  

Luxury of choice extended on Flying Spur

The Flying Spur, Bentley’s best-selling model in China, is on display in Shanghai showcasing additional features and offering even more bespoke choice.

The exquisite cabin of the Flying Spur gains modern and tactile new features for 2015 to maintain Bentley’s reputation for interior style and usability. Complementing the feature upgrades are new paint colours in the hues of Marlin, Camel and Jetstream – as per the Continental GT – and the addition of Shortbread and Camel hides to the extensive range of leathers.

Pinnacle luxury with enhanced efficiency

The updated Mulsanne also joins the line-up at Auto Shanghai. Tailored for the driver, the Mulsanne is the flagship of the Bentley range with its exquisite blend of effortless driveability and unrivled luxury.

For 2015 the Mulsanne receives efficiency upgrades through new engine hardware, with its 512 PS (505 bhp / 377 kW), 1,020 Nm (752 lb.ft) 6¾-litre twin turbo V8 engine now 13% more efficient.

Changes have also been made to the gearbox calibration of the Mulsanne, focusing on smoother, relaxed gear changes that promote a comfortable and refined driving experience.

New paint colours, hide and veneers options are also available across the Mulsanne family.     

Bentley’s international GT3 racing programme expands in 2015

The 2015 season will see the continued growth of the Bentley international motorsport programme, with Works-supported teams racing in six different series across four continents and customers taking their Continental GT3s to an ever-expanding selection of new countries and GT races.

Bentley’s Continental GT3 takes a break from 2015 season preparation to join the new Bentley model range at Auto Shanghai. Bentley entered into the GT Asia Series last year with Bentley Team Absolute Racing and enjoyed a promising start. This season, the calendar has been expanded to incorporate 12 races across Korea, Japan, China, Malaysia and Thailand.

The Continental GT3 is Bentley’s purest expression of speed. The racecar explores the potential of the Continental GT in its most extreme form, exploiting the performance and endurance DNA in every road-going Bentley.

His Royal Highness The Duke of York today visited Bentley's headquarters in Crewe to meet apprentices and find out more about Bentley's innovative approach to training young people and continuously improving the skills of Colleagues throughout their careers at Bentley.

His Royal Highness, who as Patron of the Baker Dearing Trust is a strong supporter of University Technical Colleges, also heard how Bentley is working with partners in the South Cheshire area to open Crewe Engineering & Design UTC in September 2016.

Bentley’s new manufacturing apprenticeship is based on the proven dual education model and includes competence profiles and dedicated placements with expert Master Trainers within chosen professional areas such as Bentley specialisms in wood, leather and mechatronics. Bentley also announced today that its latest apprentice intake, to start in September this year, is its biggest in 25 years, with 63 positions.    

         

The Duke met both apprentices and Colleagues working on some of the brand new and bespoke training islands in wood, leather and engine production.

Combining theory and practical learning will also be the focus for learners at Crewe Engineering & Design UTC which will help ensure a steady pipeline of young people needed to sustain the unique skills and quality levels required to sustain Bentley’s growth plans.

Speaking about the visit, Wolfgang Dürheimer Bentley Chairman and CEO, said: “Bentley is the pinnacle of luxury and performance. To deliver on our exceptionally high standards requires a highly skilled and motivated workforce. We therefore invest in their training throughout their careers at Bentley.

Bentley has also recently announced its expansion plans in Crewe with a new £40million R&D centre and 300 new roles being created in engineering, manufacturing, quality, sales and marketing and project management. This is part of a wider £840 million investment plan by Bentley over three years to 2016.

Bentley has today underlined its commitment to future skills development by announcing the company’s largest intake of apprentices in 25 years.        

63 apprentices are to be recruited for positions starting in September 2015. Applications will open today at www.bentleycareers.com for six weeks, with an open day held for prospective apprentices at its headquarters in Crewe on Saturday 14^th March 2015.          

The majority of the new apprentices, 40, will be undertaking the newly developed manufacturing apprenticeship programme. Launched in 2014, the curriculum is designed and delivered by Bentley Master Trainers, during which apprentices will develop skills in areas such as Leather, Wood, Paint, and Mechatronics.    

        

The scheme provides a dual education system of learning, a tailored method based on competence profiles with approximately 70 per cent of time devoted to practical and 30 per cent to theoretical learning within chosen professional areas.

A further 23 apprentices will be based in business areas at Bentley’s global headquarters in Crewe, including Engineering, Sales and Marketing, Purchasing and Human Resources.

Megan Aucott, third year Junior Engineer and current apprentice, said: “The real benefit of an apprenticeship is that I am able to start full-time employment without having to compromise my education. I work within Whole Vehicle Engineering – Design Check, and what I love about the role is I don’t just have to work on the products in the virtual world, but I can physically go into the workshop and help to build prototype concepts.

“The role offers something different every day, a constant learning curve, keeping it fresh and interesting. As I get more experience I can see myself becoming more independent, taking on more responsibility and developing into a technical specialist in my department.”
