Bentley is looking to take on 60 intakes for the coming year, more than last year, and the recruitment starts now.

  • 60 opportunities for 2017 intake
  • Vacancies at apprentice, undergraduate and graduate level
  • Applications now open at www.bentleycareers.com
Bentley Motors has launched the company’s 2017 trainee recruitment campaign with 60 positions available for apprentices, undergraduates and graduates to start in autumn 2017
Applications are now open at www.bentleycareers.com until November 27th, with vacancies covering commercial areas including Sales and Marketing, Human Resources, Finance and Purchasing, as well as the traditional Engineering and Manufacturing opportunities.

Commenting on the latest recruitment drive, Marlies Rogait, Member of the Board for Human Resources, said:

“Each of our schemes offer a solid foundation upon which to build the skills and knowledge required to become experts and professionals in their chosen field.

“We continue to demonstrate our commitment to future talent by recruiting in significant numbers and 2017 is no exception. We are looking to attract extraordinary candidates – Bentley experts of tomorrow – who can add to our already highly-skilled and passionate workforce.”

Bentley has recently received national recognition for its future talent and skills development programmes after being named as a Top Employer for the fifth consecutive year.

Bentley’s apprenticeship programme, with 22 positions available, offers an invaluable way of gaining recognised qualifications while undertaking key training at Bentley, for three or four years, dependent on which area the apprentice is working in.

The majority of apprentices will be undertaking the manufacturing programme, learning skills within areas such as wood, paint and mechatronics. The first year of their programme will include theoretical learning at South Cheshire College, before working in practical areas of manufacturing at Bentley.
The graduate scheme, offering 13 vacancies, is a two-year development programme where recruits are given the opportunity to work on business projects, working in a specific department, or across a number of functions.
The undergraduate scheme, of which there are 25 places, is a 12-month development programme focused on undergraduate degree students looking to complete a year out in industry as part of their studies.

In a further sign of commitment to future talent, Bentley is playing a pivotal role in the recently opened University Technical College in Crewe. Focused on Engineering and Design, the school offers an inspiring education for 14-18 year olds seeking a pathway to future employment.

Bentley Motors launches its 2016 apprentice recruitment campaign with 42 positions available.

  • 42 apprenticeship opportunities for 2016 intake
  • 100 apprentice positions created in past two years
  • Applications open on 12th March at www.bentleycareers.com
  • Apprentice open day on 12th March at Bentley Motors
Bentley Motors today launches its 2016 apprentice recruitment campaign with 42 positions available on the latest intake, starting with the company in September this year.

Applications open from 12th March at www.bentleycareers.com for six weeks, with an open day to be held on the same day at Bentley’s headquarters in Crewe, where prospective apprentices can find out more.

Bentley has created over 100 apprentice opportunities in the past two years, maintaining the company’s future talent focus. Commenting on the latest recruitment drive, Marlies Rogait, Member of the Board for Human Resources, said:
“Bentley’s apprenticeship scheme offers a solid foundation upon which to build the skills and knowledge required to become skilled experts and professionals in their chosen field.

“As our business continues to grow, we continue to invest - in our people, our products, and our network. We want to attract extraordinary candidates - the Bentley experts of tomorrow - who aren’t afraid to challenge and can add to our highly-skilled and passionate workforce.”

Bentley’s apprentice scheme has been running for more than 40 years and offers an invaluable way of gaining nationally recognised academic and vocational qualifications, while undertaking tailored development at Bentley.

Nearly half of the new apprentices (20) will be starting the recently developed manufacturing apprenticeship programme. The curriculum is designed and delivered by Bentley Master Trainers, during which apprentices will develop skills in areas such as leather, wood, paint, mechatronics and production maintenance.

A further 22 apprentices will be based in business areas at Bentley’s headquarters in Crewe, including Engineering, Sales and Marketing, Purchasing and Human Resources.

Bentley’s Apprentice of Year in 2015 was Matthew Farrell, a former Production Apprentice, and now Production Engineer at Bentley Motors. Matthew summed up why he found the Bentley apprenticeship scheme so valuable:

“The Apprenticeship was a great opportunity to really pursue my technical, academic and personal development goals in a structured way. From learning about manual engineering operations to developing the next generation of designs for body and trim, each part of the programme helped me to enhance my professional and personal skills. I have been able to own my development goals and benefit from structured input and feedback from peers and managers along the way.”

Bentley Motors was recently named one of Britain’s top employers by the Top Employers Institute for the fifth consecutive year. Bentley – awarded for its commitment and dedication to the 4,000 colleagues working at the Crewe headquarters - was particularly praised for its focus on the talent and personal development of its workforce.

Bentley is also playing a pivotal role in bringing a University Technical College to Crewe later this year. Focused on Engineering and Design, the college will offer an inspiring education for 14-18 year olds seeking a pathway to future employment.

Jaguar Land Rover opens search for over 200 apprentices in 2016

  • Jaguar Land Rover opens search for over 200 apprentices in 2016
  • A record 245 Advanced and Degree apprentices joined the company in 2015; 900 over the past five years
  • Skills Minister praises Jaguar Land Rover for backing the next generation of British talent
  • Apprentices “learn and earn” with sponsored degrees and NVQs
  • Opportunities in the Midlands and North West
  • New Jaguar Land Rover Academy offers recruits the chance of lifelong learning through their career with the company
Jaguar Land Rover has launched its recruitment drive for over 200 apprentices to join the company in September 2016.  The Government’s Skills Minister, Nick Boles, praised the UK’s largest automotive apprenticeship provider saying:
“Jaguar Land Rover is playing a leading role in backing the next generation of highly skilled workers. Their new apprentice intake will learn highly sought after skills whilst benefiting from earning a wage and some will even gain a degree.

“Jaguar Land Rover recognises the value apprenticeships bring to their business and productivity, this is why we are committed to delivering 3 million quality apprenticeships by 2020.”
Jaguar Land Rover is the largest apprenticeship provider in the UK automotive sector, currently accounting for approximately half of the total apprentices employed in that industry.  Applicants can choose from either the four year Advanced Apprenticeship aimed at GCSE students, leading to qualifications that include NVQ3; or the six year Degree Apprenticeship aimed at A-Level entrants and leading to a fully sponsored BEng degree in Applied Engineering from the University of Warwick.
Nick Rogers, Jaguar Land Rover's Engineering Director, is an inspirational role model for those considering an apprenticeship with the company.  Having joined Jaguar Land Rover straight from school as an apprentice, Nick went on to gain a degree in mechanical engineering and has risen through the company to his current position in charge of over 8,500 engineers and a place on the company's executive committee.  Reflecting on the apprenticeship scheme, Nick said:
“There has never been a better time to join Jaguar Land Rover as we continue to grow on the global stage.  We want to meet the next generation of engineers who are going to change the car industry in the next thirty years.  The Jaguar Land Rover apprenticeship programme offers a great mix of on-the-job experience and learning.  In order to continue our success, we are investing in the next generation of problem solvers, creative thinkers and future leaders.  Our engineers make the impossible possible.  Passionate, inquisitive and open-minded candidates are encouraged to join us and help shape the exciting future of Jaguar Land Rover."
Britain’s 2015 Apprentice of the Year is Alex Tomlinson, a fourth year Powertrain Degree Apprentice at Jaguar Land Rover's Whitley engineering centre in Coventry.  Further evidence of the company’s determination to find the very best apprentices, Alex was also named overall Best of British Engineering by sector skills council SEMTA.  Alex said:
“When I discovered Jaguar Land Rover ran a degree apprenticeship, it seemed too good to be true and I applied like a shot.  Not only is there the opportunity to gain sought-after qualifications without ending up with student debt, but you are paid at the same time.  It is much more suited to my style of learning – I can apply what we are being taught in the real world. And it is a huge bonus to be surrounded by people with many years of workplace experience who are keen to share their knowledge.”
The start of the 2016 recruitment campaign follows hot on the heels of the 2015 intake of 245 apprentices, who joined the company in September.  With some 900 advanced and degree apprentices having started their career with the company over the past five years, this year’s recruits were the first to start their training as part of the newly-launched Jaguar Land Rover Academy.  The Academy will offer training for employees at all stages of their working lives with Jaguar Land Rover, whether they are new recruits or more experienced employees seeking to move to the next level in the organisation.  Reflecting on the launch of the Academy and the start of the recruitment of apprentices, Kirsty Scott, HR Director, Organisation and Talent Development, said:
“We are investing heavily in employing and developing the highly skilled people that will help ensure our continued success.  Our Jaguar Land Rover Academy gives focus to that investment and we are proud to be leading the industry in this field.”

Bentley Motors has welcomed 139 graduates, apprentices and industrial placement students this week, the company’s highest intake in history.
The new recruits cover roles in every Bentley department, from engineering to manufacturing, and sales and marketing to human resources. All new trainees will begin with a formal induction, before commencing their respective programmes.

Welcoming the new recruits, Marlies Rogait, Member of the Board for Human Resources at Bentley Motors, said: “I join the rest of the business in welcoming our new trainees to Bentley and I feel proud that this is our largest ever intake, demonstrating our dedication and commitment to skills development and investing in the talent of the future.
“These programmes will give them a solid foundation upon which to build the skills and knowledge required to become skilled professionals and experts in their chosen field.”
Bentley has created over 1,000 jobs in the past two years and was recently named as a Top Employer for the fourth consecutive year, praised for its focus on skills development within its workforce.
Annabelle Wain, who joined this week as an apprentice working in the manufacturing department, commented: “I’m really pleased to be joining Bentley and begin the next step in my career. I’ve read all about the new SUV, Bentley Bentayga and after the initial time in the classroom as part of the apprenticeship, I can’t wait to get started working on the new car.”

The apprenticeship programme offers an invaluable way of gaining recognised qualifications while undertaking key training at Bentley, for three or four years, dependent on which area the apprentice is working in.

Jaguar Land Rover celebrate nearly 600 new gradulates and apprentices beginning their career with JLR.

  • Nearly 600 new graduates and apprentices begin their careers with Jaguar Land Rover
  • The recruits are the first to start their training as part of the newly-formed Jaguar Land Rover Academy
  • Business Secretary praises Jaguar Land Rover for backing the next generation of British talent
  • Some 2,500 have joined tailored graduate and apprenticeship programmes in last five years
  • Search for 2016 graduate and undergraduate intake launched this week
Jaguar Land Rover has welcomed nearly 600 new graduates and apprentices to the business this week, the company’s highest intake to date.  Today the Government’s Business Secretary, Sajid Javid, met some of the company’s trainees and praised Jaguar Land Rover for backing the next generation of British talent.

Sajid Javid said: “It is great for Britain that we have got such a successful automotive industry and the graduates and apprentices joining Jaguar Land Rover this week will have an important role to play in building on that success in the future.  I congratulate the new intake on securing the opportunity to work at the heart of the renaissance of the British car industry.  Companies like Jaguar Land Rover are backing the next generation of British talent, helping people to build careers and boosting the country’s productivity.”
With some 2,500 employees having started their careers on Jaguar Land Rover’s graduate, advanced and higher apprentice programmes over the past five years, this year’s intake is the largest to date and more than 100 up on last year.
Dr Ralf Speth, Jaguar Land Rover Chief Executive Officer, met the new recruits on Monday.  He commented: “I am proud to welcome tomorrow’s engineers, technicians and innovators at the very beginning of their career with the company.  This is an exciting time to join our business.  We are investing significantly in the future of Jaguar Land Rover by creating very special vehicles for our discerning customers and, just as importantly by employing and developing the highly skilled people that will help ensure our continued success.”
The new graduates and apprentices are the first to start their training as part of the Jaguar Land Rover Academy, which was officially launched this week.  The new Academy will offer learning and development for employees at all stages of their working lives with the company, whether they are new recruits or more experienced employees seeking to move to the next level in the organisation.  This “lifelong learning” will follow a structured plan, delivering training that is relevant to changing business requirements and enabling employees to progress their careers at Jaguar Land Rover.
The Business Secretary met the apprentices and graduates at a UK car industry event held by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) today, ahead of next week’s Frankfurt international motor show.  At Frankfurt, Jaguar Land Rover will be showcasing its British designed, engineered and produced vehicles.  As part of this, the company promises a dramatic reveal of the all-new Jaguar F-PACE, the brand’s first performance crossover.
The graduates and apprentices have begun their programmes with a joint formal induction week at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry.  Designed to inspire participants, the induction has included motivational talks from Richard Noble, the former land speed record holder and Kenton Cool, one of the world’s leading high-altitude climbers.  Those attending have also had the chance to put questions to Dr Speth and other members of the company’s executive committee, familiarise themselves with the latest vehicles and have a glimpse at the future line-up.
Jaguar Land Rover’s undergraduate placement scheme is increasingly becoming a feeder for the graduate programme, with 85 of the 333 graduates joining this week previously having been on paid undergraduate placements with the company.
Similarly, the company’s Young Women In The Know course has led to an increase in the number of females taking up advanced and higher apprenticeships at Jaguar Land Rover.  14 of the girls who took the course last year are amongst the 46 new female apprentices.  The Young Women In The Know initiative, launched in August 2013 as part of Jaguar Land Rover’s wider education outreach, offers female students aged 15 – 18 a unique insight into engineering, technology and manufacturing careers.
Danella Bagnall, Vehicle Programme Director at Jaguar Land Rover is a great role model: "I started my career as an apprentice 26 years ago which was a great way of continuing education, developing skills, and getting into industry.  I am now an engineering director, which demonstrates the excellent career progression opportunities available to women in a modern engineering-led business like Jaguar Land Rover.  I would thoroughly recommend a career in engineering to girls."

Skoda Apprentices produce another stunning one off for the Worthersee GTi Meeting.

  • 23 Å KODA trainees build pickup based on the Å KODA Fabia
  • Vehicle project in close cooperation with the Å KODA Design department
    and Å KODA Production
  • Premiere at the 34th GTI Meeting at Wörthersee in mid-May
The new dream car of 23 trainees from the Å KODA AUTO Vocational School: the Å KODA FUNstar pickup. The fun vehicle concept, based on the new Å KODA Fabia, is the result of Å KODA’s ‘trainee car’ project, which was run for the first time last year.

The ŠKODA FUNstar will be making its public debut at the 34th GTI Meeting at Wörthersee from 13 to 16 May 2015.

The two young women and 21 young men have been tinkering on their own vehicle project since November 2014.  Developing ideas and discussing possible solutions, drawing, designing and they have built a very special, unique car. Inventiveness and flexibility are just as important as pragmatism and implementation skills.

The trainees have been supported in their work by Å KODA chief designer Jozef Kabaň and Å KODA AUTO Production Director Michael Oeljeklaus. The new ‘Trainee Car’ is almost ready; the premiere takes place at the legendary GTI Meeting at Wörthersee in Austria in mid-May.

This is the second year in a row that the Czech manufacturer has given selected trainees the opportunity to create their dream car. The company’s goal with this programme is to promote and strengthen the vocational students’ creativity and expertise.

“After the excellent results of the Å KODA Trainee Car premiere last year, it was clear that we would continue the project,” said Å KODA HR Director Bohdan Wojnar.

“We are once again delighted with our students’ creative ideas and their goal-oriented implementation. We would like to thank everyone who has supported the project, especially the teachers at the Å KODA AUTO Vocational School. The Å KODA FUNstar is a great concept car that is going to surprise and inspire visitors at the GTI Meeting.”

The Å KODA FUNstar is a funky pickup based on the new Å KODA Fabia – cheeky, fresh and surprising. This is a bright, sharp pickup with a real fun factor, not only in name. The Å KODA FUNstar stands out with its metallic colours steel-grey and moon-white.

The sills, grille surround and the rear spoiler form a striking contrast in reflex-green. One special feature is the LED lights mounted below the sidebars. The dual-lens headlights also feature LED technology, with green LED light strips serving as daytime running lights. LEDs are also used in the rear lights.

“Through this project, our apprentices have really shown what they are capable of,” said Å KODA Production Board member Michael Oeljeklaus whose department has taken the junior employees under their wing in production technology. “The project has been great fun. The students have really got on board with the task, showing great zeal and developing their expertise.”

The Å KODA FUNstar drives up on 18-inch ‘Gemini’ alloys from the Octavia RS. The engine is a 1.2 TSI petrol with 90 kW. The transmission features a modern seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox.

The sporty look continues in the interior. Individual elements are also finished in steel-grey and moon-white. It goes without saying that the students used one of the best sports steering wheels Å KODA has to offer, and the 1400-Watt sound system offers a fantastic music experience.

The ‘Trainee Car’ project once again demonstrates the high quality of Å KODA’s vocational training, and the importance of combining theoretical education with practical experience. The Å KODA Vocational School offers young adults three- or four-year training programmes in technical subjects.

The students graduate with an apprenticeship diploma or NVQ level 3 respectively. There are currently 13 training courses, on which 880 full-time trainees are enrolled. Some 12.5 per cent of these apprentices are young women. In addition, 65 current employees are supplementing their qualifications at a post-graduate level.

The ŠKODA Vocational School in Mladá Boleslav was established in 1927. Since then, almost 22,000 students have completed their training there.

Training young people is a key part of the Czech car manufacturer’s social responsibility. The training is free; moreover, students are paid for their work during their apprentices. After successfully completing the training, Å KODA offers all graduates a permanent job.
