Purpose

I will try my best to provide detailed info on various cars and what is like to live with them, I have already produced a few for Jaguar-car-forums, I will do my best to be unbiased, but it will be hard for some cars. I will re-produce press releases and copy from other motoring news.

New flagship SUV celebrates ‘Shackleton’s Return’ the recent 30-day Antarctic expedition by Sir Ernest Shackleton’s Great Grandson.

  • New flagship SUV celebrates ‘Shackleton’s Return’ the recent 30-day Antarctic expedition by Sir Ernest Shackleton’s Great Grandson, which was completed in a Hyundai Santa Fe
  • Initially limited to 500 models, the Santa Fe Endurance will be based on the 7-seat Premium SE 2.2-litre diesel with Convenience Pack and automatic transmission and will feature 19-inch alloy wheels and ‘Endurance’ logos. The Endurance edition sits at the top of the range and will be priced at £38,995. Customers can order from 18 May 2017.
  • The Expedition saw standard 2.2-litre diesel Hyundai Santa Fe with limited modifications traverse the Antarctic continent from Union Camp to McMurdo and back again driven by Patrick Bergel, great-grandson of Sir Ernest Shackleton
Hyundai Motor UK announces the launch of a highly-equipped SUV perfect for those who consider every drive an expedition – the Sante Fe Endurance Edition.
Sitting at the top of Hyundai’s range, it celebrates a recent history-making drive by Patrick Bergel, the Great Grandson of legendary polar explorer, Sir Ernest Shackleton.
In December 2016, Bergel completed a 30-day expedition in a near-standard 2.2-litre diesel Santa Fe, driving across Antarctica from Union Camp to McMurdo and back again, commemorating the centenary of Shackleton’s heroic Trans-Antarctic expedition of 1914-16.
This was the first time a passenger vehicle had ever traversed the Antarctic continent and the standard 2.2-litre Santa Fe used by Bergel featured only a handful of modifications to counter the tough Antarctic conditions, such as the fitment of large, low-pressure tyres, a 250-litre fuel tank and a pre-heater for the cold.
To commemorate this incredible achievement, Hyundai Motor UK will make just 500 Endurance Edition models available.
Each car is based on the 2.2 diesel 7 seat 4WD Automatic Sante Fe in Premium SE trim with Convenience Pack, which boasts Smart Electric Tailgate, Panoramic Sunroof, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Smart Cruise Control and Around View Monitor. In addition, the Santa Fe Endurance will also feature additional special equipment.
Customers can choose from five limited colours: solid Creamy White, pearl White Crystal, metallic Titanium Silver, pearl Phantom Black and metallic Mineral Blue - the same colour as that of Bergel’s expedition car.
Endurance Editions are further marked out by 19-inch alloy wheels – wrapped in 235/55 R19 tyres – Side Bar Sport running steps. The final touch is a special Endurance logo, which can be found on the B-pillar and interior floor mats. The eye-catching logo commemorates Shackleton’s Endurance expedition and features the Shackleton Family Motto and a 28-point compass representing the 28 crew that survived.
The Santa Fe Endurance will be priced at £38,995, representing a saving of £2,400 over a standard Premium SE with Convenience Pack and Automatic transmission and can be ordered from 18 May 2017.
Tony Whitehorn, President and CEO of Hyundai UK said: “This new Endurance Edition offers customers an incredibly well-equipped Santa Fe, one that will be able to tackle everything family life throws at it….and more. As Sir Ernest Shackleton’s Great Grandson, Patrick Bergel proved just a few months ago, with just a few choice modifications, you could even traverse Antartica!”

A wide range, which includes different powertrains, drivetrains and capacities, offers maximum flexibility, while a suite of innovative technologies is available – not for technology’s sake, but to provide customers with solutions to real-world problems.

Mercedes-Benz Vans has introduced dual-clutch automatic transmission versions of the Citan.

Mercedes-Benz Vans has introduced dual-clutch automatic transmission versions of the Citan. From June 2016, selected Citan 112 variants will be available to order with the new 6G-DCT automatic transmission.
Citan panel van and Tourer models with the 112 petrol engine can benefit from the double clutch transmission, which combines the comfort of a six-speed automatic transmission with the driving dynamics of a manual gearbox in a compact and light-weight design.

The six-speed dual-clutch transmission consists of two sub-transmissions, each with its own clutch. As one transmits drive to the wheels, the other has pre-selected the next gear. This allows for near seamless gear changes without loss of tractive power, high levels of driving comfort and convenience.
Priced from £15,820 excluding VAT for the 112 panel van long 6G-DCT, and £17,900 for the Tourer long variant, Citan is now more versatile than ever before.

The Special Limited Run Isuzu Centurion marks 100 years of the brand, happy Birthday & here's to the next 100.

  • Limited-run D-Max ‘Centurion’ marks 100 years of Isuzu
  • Centurion limited to 100 vehicles
  • Lavish spec to include £11,000-worth of extras
  • On sale across the UK from 9 April at £30,999 CVOTR
Isuzu continues to celebrate its centenary in style with a new Centurion special edition of the award-winning D-Max, released to mark 100 years since the company set up operations in Tokyo, Japan. Fittingly, for the centenary-themed pick-up, only 100 of the Centurion models will be produced and it goes on sale on 9 April - the 100th day of the year.

Making a bold impression as the ultimate pick-up, the Centurion boasts striking exterior enhancements and all-new in-car entertainment features. Ranking as the best-equipped D-Max ever to be available on sale in the UK, the automatic transmission, double-cab Centurion is finished in a sophisticated, cool Fjord Blue colour.
In addition to the comprehensive spec list included within the £30,999 (CVOTR) price tag, every Centurion features a unique plaque numbered 1-100. As a memento, a branded presentation box will be awarded to every customer picking up their new D-Max Centurion, within which a unique items list and personalised collection certificate will be included.
All in, the Centurion includes more than £11,000-worth of additional bespoke features. The exterior is proudly adorned with all-new tailor-made 19-inch black and silver Hurricane alloys fitted with Pirelli Scorpion Zero tyres. Bold front and rear spoiler fitments create the impression of a more planted stance, without compromising ride-height or ground clearance.
Robust stainless steel side bars and sidesteps along with black and silver roof bars add further practicality and convenience as well as enhancing the pick-up’s visual appeal.
The overall profile of the Centurion is also unique, thanks to the load bed’s eye-catching Alpha Sports tonneau cover – with remote tailgate locking – which adds eye-catching rear buttresses to the trailing edge of the passenger cabin. The unique exterior features go onto include a pair of combination LEDs incorporating daytime running lamps and fog lamps which are neatly integrated into the front bumper.
Inside, the commanding centenary special D-Max is further refined with a Centurion leather trim upgrade, making for sleek leather upholstery on the seats, front centre arm rest and steering wheel. The front and rear door entry guards display an illuminated Isuzu logo, with each model containing a Centurion-branded Bed Rug dedicated to the brand’s centenary.
Keeping up with the latest technology, the Centurion is kitted out with an all-new Alpine in-car entertainment system accessed through an eight-inch touch-screen display, while audio output is delivered through six Alpine speakers (complete with an active subwoofer). Rear passengers are entertained by a drop-down, ceiling-mounted 10.2-inch Alpine monitor, with two wireless headphone sets so they can enjoy DVDs without disturbing the driver. A rear camera aids parking and manoeuvring with the image cleverly displayed within the rear view mirror when reversing.
The powerful beating heart of the Centurion remains the highly efficient 2.5-litre twin-turbo diesel engine, producing 163 PS and 400 Nm of torque. Isuzu’s robust diesel returns a highly impressive fuel economy of 38.7 mpg (NEDC combined). Like the rest of the D-Max range, the new Centurion also benefits from a heavyweight towing capacity of 3.5 tonnes.
William Brown, Operations Director at Isuzu UK, said: “This year with the celebration of the company’s centenary, and the release of the Centurion is one of the major highlights. We felt it appropriate to offer customers the pinnacle in robust, dependable and yet highly refined pick-ups, and this new limited run model demonstrates just how versatile our award-winning Isuzu D-Max is.”
Like all new Isuzu pick-ups sold in the UK, the D-Max Centurion comes with the company’s five-year / 125,000 mile warranty.
