Purpose

I will try my best to provide detailed info on various cars and what is like to live with them, I have already produced a few for Jaguar-car-forums, I will do my best to be unbiased, but it will be hard for some cars. I will re-produce press releases and copy from other motoring news.

  • Customer saving of £1,250

As the cold winter weather starts to bite, SsangYong is introducing a 4x4 winter upgrade offer on its 1.6 litre turbo diesel Tivoli SUV and extended bodied Tivoli XLV models.
The offer applies to current EX and ELX models, manual and automatic, and registered before 31st January 2017.

Comprehensively equipped, the Tivoli EX 4x4 features cruise control, smart steering (normal, comfort and sport modes), an RDS/Bluetooth radio and seven airbags, grey or beige leather upholstery, 18” alloy Spiral wheels, dual zone climate control, 7” touch screen smart audio system with rear view camera, heated front seats, front fog lights and a luggage load cover.
The top of the range ELX 4x4 adds the choice of manual and automatic transmission, and features Diamond cut alloy wheels, a smart instrument cluster, smart keyless starting, front & rear parking sensors, privacy glass, rear spoiler, automatic headlamps, rain sensing wipers, full TomTom navigation system with 7” touch screen, rear view camera, and the option of the styling pack and red leather pack with My Tivoli.
Sharing the same platform and 2,600mm wheelbase as the Tivoli, the Tivoli XLV SUV estate features a lengthened body from behind the C pillar, an increase of 238mm over the standard car, expanding the load capacity to a huge 720 cubic litres of space.
Four-wheel drive performance
The SsangYong Tivoli 4x4 employs an intelligent and advanced all-wheel drive torque on demand system that senses the road surface and driving conditions, and distributes the power to the wheels that need it most.
Under normal driving conditions, 100 per cent of the engine’s torque is delivered to the front wheels so that the car runs with optimised fuel efficiency.  On icy or slippery roads or when driving on wet off-road conditions, power is distributed to both the front and rear wheels to ensure a safe, stable and dependable drive.  The technology operates to give a smooth and safe departure when driving away from a standstill on a steep slope, while a lock mode distributes power equally between the front and rear wheels at speeds below 25mph to optimise traction.
In conjunction with the standard electronic stability program (ESP) with hydraulic brake assist and 4-channel anti-lock braking system (ABS), the four-wheel drive system provides the best possible grip and control whatever the conditions.  Hill start assist (HSA) and active roll-over protection (ARP) also feature.
The Tivoli 4x4 also features multi-link rear suspension for a comfortable drive on the road, and increased wheel articulation for optimum grip off-road.

THE Yamaha MT-07 is ready for new riders.

The new MT-07 has already impressed the world’s press with its blend of light weight, compact dimensions and responsive, 689cc twin cylinder engine. The MT-07 offers a unique blend of performance and handling that will satisfy even the most experienced riders and with a recommended price of £5199 it redefines the word ‘value’ in this competitive middleweight class.

The chassis specifications, narrow seat and low dry weight of only 164kg, also make the MT-07 very attractive to new A2 licence holders and motorcycle training centers as a machines that offers the perfect introduction to the world of motorcycling.
Free 35KW Restrictor Kit for new MT-07s
Yamaha are therefore pleased to confirm the availability of an A2 35KW Restrictor Kit for the new MT-07 and MT-07 ABS models which complies with the 3rd Directive for Category A2 motorcycles.

The 35KW Restrictor Kit can be provided and fitted free of charge as part of the normal PDI on all new MT-07’s, at the time of purchase by the supplying Yamaha dealer. The new owner receives a 35KW Certificate to confirm that the kit has been fitted and the new machine complies with the current A2 licence legislation.

And of course the beauty of having a restrictor kit available is that once a rider has qualified for a full licence they can get their MT-07 derestricted and then experience the full potential of the MT engine. The M-07/ABS should therefore be able to satisfy the changing needs of new riders as they gain experience, without the need to sell and replace their machine for many years.

The MT-07/ABS restrictor kit can also be ordered as a spare part from Yamaha dealers, so that secondhand machines can be restricted if purchased by an A2 licence holder. The kit has a recommended retail price of £124.99 ex VAT.

MT-07 RSK – Riding School Kit
Recognising that the restricted A2 version of the MT-07 also looks set to become a favourite with motorcycle training centres Yamaha has also developed a special RSK – Riding School Kit – package that turns the new MT into the perfect training machine.

The kit includes a handlebar/levers protective cage and six heavy duty sliders to protect the frame and engine. These parts have been developed by Yamaha engineers having consulted schools across Europe and the parts are positioned in such a way as to protect all the vital components if a bike is dropped during low speed manoeuvring.

There are many advantages of the official RSK kits:

1.        The kit is made up of Yamaha Genuine Quality Parts
2.        No modifications are required to the motorcycle
3.        Quick and easy to fit to the motorcycle
4.        Vital protection of the key engine and chassis components during a drop or fall over
5.        The look and visual identity of the MT-07 is preserved.
6.        Durable engineering and high quality materials are used
7.        Kit and parts are available form Yamaha Europe central parts warehouse.
8.        The four individual components of the kit can be ordered as spare parts
The RSK kit will be available from authorised Yamaha dealerships during April 2014. The expected recommended retail price for the complete kit is £312.00 ex VAT. Individual prices for each of the four separate items in the kit will be published at a later date.

Mitsubishi to give away a Mirage at every dealer (for one year only though)

Mitsubishi Motors in the UK has launched a competition today that will see every one of its dealerships give away a brand new Mitsubishi Mirage to a lucky customer for a whole year.

The UK’s fastest growing car brand is running the competition throughout the summer to celebrate the success of the fantastic new super-mini.
Sales of the Mirage, which are already at 1,300 since its launch earlier this year, have given the company a great start to 2013.

And interest in the all-new Mirage, which combines great styling, excellent fuel economy and real-life practicality, is set to continue with the launch of this exciting competition.

Anyone who takes the Mirage for a test drive between 1st July and 30th November this year can enter into a prize draw for a chance to win[1].

Lance Bradley, Managing Director of Mitsubishi Motors in the UK, said:

“The new Mirage is the perfect car for its time and thanks to this competition people all over the country will be driving away from a Mitsubishi dealership with a vehicle that will be theirs for a whole year.

“The Mirage is a compact family car which delivers comfort, performance, excellent environmental credentials and superb fuel economy.

“The response to the car has already been fantastic and we’re sure this competition will prove popular.”

The light and nimble Mirage is Mitsubishi’s latest model and it has been engineered from the wheels up to offer a winning blend of chic styling, exceptional comfort and low running costs. It boasts exceptional fuel economy across the range of between 65.7 and 68.9mpg (combined). And with CO2 emission levels across the whole line-up equal to or lower than 100g/km, no Vehicle Excise Duty is payable.

Leon SC debuts at London Motorexpo

  • SEAT gives the stunning Leon SC its UK debut at the London Motorexpo
  • First time SEAT has attended the vibrant Canary Wharf event
  • London Motorexpo is free to attend, opening 10 June 2013
  • Leon SC on sale now, with first customer deliveries due in July

The SEAT Leon SC will get its UK debut at the London Motorexpo next week. The beautiful new three-door Sports Coupé will be a star attraction at the event, which opens Monday 10 June at London’s Canary Wharf.

Unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March, the Leon SC is the second member of the Leon family and the first ever three-door Leon. It will soon be joined by an ST estate.

Designed to combine the striking road presence of a coupé with the practicality of a family hatchback, the Leon SC is unique from the A-pillars back compared to its five-door namesake.

With a shorter wheelbase, a slightly lower roofline, a more sloped rear hatch, broader rear ‘shoulders’ and distinct rear three-quarter windows, the SC demonstrates SEAT ‘arrow head’ design in its purest form.

Despite this, it loses so little headroom that only giraffes need be concerned, and it remains a full five-seat car – with exactly the same large 380-litre boot as the five-door Leon. Order books are open now for the Leon SC, with first cars expected in showrooms in July.

The Leon SC will be joined at the Motorexpo by five-door versions of the Leon, and thanks to the unique format of the show, attendees will have the chance to get behind the wheel; petrol and diesel Leon five-door models in both SE and FR specification will be available to try, while an Ibiza FR TDI 143 PS will also be on display.

Priced from just £15,370, the Leon SC boasts remarkable value and an extremely generous specification from base level. Beginning with S, every Leon SC comes with air conditioning, sports-shaped front seats, a colour touchscreen display for the media system, steering wheel mounted audio controls, seven airbags, remote central locking, anti-lock brakes and electronic stability control.

SE trim adds, among other things, 16-inch alloy wheels, front fog lights with cornering function, cruise control, leather steering wheel and gear knob, XDS electronic differential lock, and hill hold control.

Top-of-the range Leon models come wearing SEAT’s iconic FR badge, and only the more powerful engines in the line-up qualify. All FR cars get 17-inch alloy wheels, LED rear lights, dual-zone climate control, dark tinted rear windows, and FR-specific front- and rear bumpers.

The Leon is also the first family hatchback in the world available with full-LED headlights, which are optional on SE and FR cars. Full-LEDs provide a powerful light beam that’s closer to natural daylight than any other sort of headlamp, which aids visibility and therefore safety, while reducing the risk of eye strain. They also look great.

They’re staggering value too – particularly at the moment, because SEAT has bundled them with satellite navigation and DAB digital radio into a Technology Pack, the contents of which would cost close to £2,000 when specified as individual options. The pack’s retail price is £1,075, but until the end of this month it’s priced at just £500.

The London Motorexpo takes place 10 – 16 June and is one third of what its organisers call “a revolutionary format” and “the world’s biggest free-to-visit motoring event.” London is the first of three Motorexpo events, with the second taking place in Toronto, Canada, in June, and the third in New York during December.
