Purpose

I will try my best to provide detailed info on various cars and what is like to live with them, I have already produced a few for Jaguar-car-forums, I will do my best to be unbiased, but it will be hard for some cars. I will re-produce press releases and copy from other motoring news.

MG, Well, what can you say, they have tried with the new advert, shame it has not worked for the MG6.

TMW THOUGHTS -

I am not sure what MG UK are trying to achieve here with the new MG6, the car is not in the same class as the MG3, which they are pushing as the "fun" model of the range, and for them to then, re-hash the old MG3 advert and superimpose a few MG6 pictures on that, confuses the car.

The MG6 is not a fun car, not in the same vein as the MG3, so why are they trying to make it look like it is, perhaps they cant afford to produce a proper advert for the new MG6, so this effort will have to do, the way the MG3 is marketed looks like it is a toy car, with lots of bright colours and stickers, and a price to tempt the kids out of the Clio's and Fiesta's, why then tarnish the MG6 with this brush.

They want the car to be a fleet model, but who would want to be seen in this car, why the brand it's self market it this way, MG in the UK, still have not gotten it, go back to the old MG-Rover days, and look at the way they did the MG range of Zeds, that worked really really well, stop with the kiddy colour scheme, that's so last year, get with the modern gentleman, and advertise your products with class and panache, then you might sell a few more MG6 cars.

The latest MG advert, launching the new MG6, will be popping up on TV screens across the country throughout May as part of the latest marketing campaign. The new commercial features the newest addition to the growing marque; the MG6, and incorporates the popular MG3.

The advert will appear on channels from tomorrow and will run until the end of May. The new MG6 offers market leading specification from only £13,995 on the road.

Those tuning into channels including ITV Central, Channel 4 Midlands, as well as a range of national satellite channels including GOLD, Film4, More4 and Dave, will find the new, vibrant advert appearing in the breaks of popular programmes.

Throughout the rest of the month the advert will feature throughout the day appearing between programmes such as This Morning, Emmerdale, Coronation Street, Countdown, Deal or No Deal, Homes Under the Hammer, re-runs of Top Gear and Escape to the Country.

The new model, which launched earlier this month, is available in three trim levels, the S, TS and TL. Even for the base level, customers will find they are getting more for their money with heated seated, front LED daytime running lamps and an electronic parking brake. As low as $14,995 after full federal and state tax credits and Chevrolet Bonus Cash

Chevrolet announced today Spark EV 1LT’s new manufacturer’s suggested retail price would start at $25,995. Depending on an individual’s tax situation, the Spark EV is eligible for federal tax credit up to $7,500.

“Chevrolet is committed to making EV driving more accessible, affordable and fun” said Steve Majoros, director of Chevrolet Car and Crossover Marketing.

“The Spark EV is already the most efficient – and one of the most affordable – EVs you can buy. 2015 Spark EV customers will benefit from an impressive blend of technology, capability and low cost of ownership, now at an even more impressive price.”

California and Maryland Spark EV owners may also qualify for a $2,500 California state rebate or $2,300 Maryland excise tax exemption. Additional Chevrolet bonus cash is also available: $1,000 in California, $1,200 in Maryland, and $3,500 in Oregon.

After full federal and state tax credits and Chevrolet bonus cash, the Spark EV could be as low as $14,995. Individuals should consult a tax professional prior to claiming any credits to confirm eligibility for tax benefits.

Spark EV owners in California and Maryland are also eligible for High-Occupancy Vehicle, or carpool lane, access
A $139 per month* sign-and-drive lease for 39  months with $0 due at lease signing including security deposit but excluding tax, title, license and dealer fees, is also available, making the Chevrolet Spark EV one of the most affordable EVs on the market.

Compared to the average new gas-powered vehicle, the Spark EV can save drivers, on average, about $83 per month in fuel costs according to EPA assessments based on 24 mpg highway for an average vehicle and 12 cents per kWh of electricity cost.  More details are available at fueleconomy.gov.

Currently available at select Chevrolet dealers throughout California and Oregon, select Chevrolet dealers in Maryland will have Spark EV’s available beginning in mid-2015.

More than 90 percent of Spark EV owners are trading in a non-GM nameplate or adding a new car to the household.
“The Chevrolet Spark EV is helping us reach new buyers in critical markets like Los Angeles,” said Majoros.

“Spark EV owners recognize the car as an opportunity to drive an all-electric vehicle that fits their budget and lifestyle.” The Spark EV features a combined city/highway EPA estimated range of 82 miles when fully charged and an EPA-estimated combined city/highway 119 MPGe fuel economy equivalent.

The Spark EV is compatible with the SAE combo charger for DC Fast Charging as an available option. The capability enables the Spark EV to recharge up to 80 percent of its capacity in approximately 20 minutes at select DC Fast Charging stations based on charging levels and outside temperature.

Unlike most competitors, the Spark EV’s battery system is capable of handling multiple compatible DC Fast Charges daily. Charging can also be completed in less than seven hours using a dedicated 240V charge.

A 120V charge cord set comes standard.  Charging can be managed and monitored remotely using the Spark EV’s smart phone application, provided by OnStar, which is standard for three years. The vehicle’s 19 kWh lithium-ion battery pack offers limited warranty protection of eight years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first.

Subaru drops price of the BRZ sports car by £2,500

  • £2500 price reduction announced for May 1
  • BRZ SE Lux just £23,995 (on-the-road)
  • £2,500 saving ensures clear differentiation from new WRX STI performance flagship
  • Subaru UK determined to pass on benefits of favourable exchange rate to customers
Renowned for its accessible driving thrills, the Subaru BRZ is now even more affordable thanks to a £2,500 reduction in its on-the-road price. From 1 May the BRZ range will start at just £23,995 (on-the-road) for the SE Lux model with manual transmission and £25,495 for automatic models.

Powered by a 2.0-litre horizontally-opposed Boxer petrol engine and boasting a low centre of gravity and rear-wheel drive for engaging driving thrills, the BRZ has been reduced in price to ensure clear differentiation from the all-new All-Wheel Drive WRX STI saloon, Subaru’s flagship performance model.
The WRX STI arrives in showrooms during May, priced from £28,995 (OTR) – £4,000 less than the
previous model.
The well-specced BRZ SE Lux is equipped as standard with Alcantara and leather trimmed seats and Torsen rear-axle differential which allows the keen driver to better exploit the sports car’s fine handling characteristics. Auto models feature steering wheel-mounted gear shift paddles.
The changes in prices are possible thanks to improvements in currency exchange, explains Paul Tunnicliffe, Managing Director of Subaru UK. “A more favourable exchange rate between the pound and yen has allowed us to reduce the price of a number of models in recent years, and our performance range – the BRZ and WRX STI – are the latest to benefit. Together, they represent outstanding value for enthusiast drivers seeking a high level of performance, driver interaction and entertainment on the road.”
In the last twelve months Subaru UK has also reduced the price of the All-Wheel Drive XV compact crossover range, while the new Forester has seen its price unchanged over previous versions.
