Outlander from Mitsubishi takes another awards this time from the Scotsman National newspaper.

Mitsubishi’s best-selling game-changer the Outlander PHEV has been named Plug-In Vehicle of the Year by Scotland’s national newspaper.
The Scotsman, which has been testing one of the vehicles over the long term, said the world’s first 4x4 plug-in hybrid SUV had ‘lived up to its ecocredentials and impressed as a genuinely practical motor’.

The title’s Steven Chisholm called the Outlander PHEV ‘an exciting prospect for anyone looking for an SUV that’s easy on the wallet as well as the environment’.
He praised the vehicle’s material and build quality as well as the cabin’s planning and space plus ‘huge boot’. In addition, he highlighted how – thanks to the Outlander PHEV’s all-electric range of 32½ miles – staff would ‘relish the challenge of hyper-miling the battery’ on their 30-mile round trips from home to the office and back again without using any petrol at all.
And it was the Outlander PHEV’s great fuel consumption as well as its SUV practicality that combined to make it the newspaper’s winner.
The Outlander PHEV currently accounts for around half of all Plug-in Car Grant applications and is the UK’s favourite choice of plug-in vehicle, with Mitsubishi having sold more than 15,000 of them since it was launched last year.
The new Outlander PHEV, which was unveiled in Tokyo in October 2015, has seen the fuel economy improved – up from 148mpg to 156mpg – while the CO2 emissions are down from 44g/km to 42g/km.
Those ultra-low emissions mean that no vehicle tax is payable, and its electric power combined with the efficient 2.0-litre petrol engine deliver an anxiety-free driving range of 541 miles.
What’s more, because the Benefit In Kind is just five per cent, it means a virtual pay rise of several thousand pounds a year for company car drivers, while for business owners there are savings on National Insurance contributions to be had, plus the Outlander PHEV qualifies for 100 per cent First Year Allowance against business profits.
This is the latest in a long line of awards for the Outlander PHEV. Last year, for example, it won Diesel Car’s Best Alternative Fuel Vehicle award as well as Business Car’s Best Green Development trophy in its Techie Awards, while in May this year it was named Best Ultra Low Emission Vehicle at the Fleet World Honours.

Mitsubishi targets company car drivers with all high specification Outlander PHEV

Sumptuous leather seats that are individually hand crafted, low level mood lighting, a sound system dynamically optimised with the vehicle’s interior acoustics and all-essential multiple USB charging ports are prerequisite in a luxury company car – and standard in the newly launched Outlander GX5h and GX5hs plug-in hybrid electric vehicle.

Externally the new models have full length side steps for easier access and the addition of a rear spoiler.

Moreover the new Outlander GX5h and GX5hs invite very little interest from HM Revenue and Customs. The top of the range GX5hs priced at £44,999 attracts just £75 a month in personal benefit-in-kind tax and is exempt from road tax.

Mitsubishi now offers the Outlander PHEV to its motability customers.

For the first time Motability drivers can get behind the wheel of the exciting all-new Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV – the country’s best-selling plug-in hybrid electric vehicle.

Mitsubishi takes title as UK best seller for PHEV vehicles with the new Outlander SUV.

Figures released today by The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) confirm the new Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is now the country’s best selling plug-in hybrid vehicle.
Lance Bradley, Managing Director of Mitsubishi Motors in the UK, said:
“The new Outlander PHEV has quickly established its credentials. We have reached a defining moment in vehicle drivetrain technology which challenges conventional wisdom. Few would have predicted that a family-sized 4 x 4 sports utility vehicle could become the UK’s best-selling plug-in hybrid based on economy, on and off road performance and practicality”.
The Outlander PHEV uses both electric and petrol power. Unlike non plug-in hybrid vehicles, the Outlander PHEV can travel substantially further on battery power – 32.5 miles - more than enough to accommodate most daily average journey distances. As such it rarely needs to visit a petrol pump. The impressive electric range gives the vehicle significant environmental credentials. It emits just 44g/km of CO2 and the official combined fuel consumption figure is 148mpg. The vehicle is exempt from road tax, London Congestion Charge and qualifies for the Government’s £5,000 Plug-in Car Grant. For company car drivers Outlander PHEV attracts just 5% taxable benefit in kind, saving £8,216 over three years compared to a similar size 4x4 SUV.
The sales success of The Outlander PHEV is having a positive effect on other Mitsubishi models. The company’s passenger car sales are up 164% in August and 36% year to date. The award winning Mitsubishi L200 is the best-selling pick-up range in August. The Mitsubishi ASX (active sports cross-over) and Mitsubishi Shogun are both out performing YTD.

Mitusbishi expands workforce across the board in huge sales growth.

Reflecting today’s employment figures announcement, continued growth of Mitsubishi Motors in the UK is creating 400 new showroom, technical and head office jobs. Sales at the company are up 32 per cent on last year and up 197 per cent in July, according to SMMT figures.
A £20 million investment in marketing to support the arrival of the much anticipated Outlander plug in 4x4 is driving the company’s sales success.
The ground breaking vehicle is now the Government’s Plug-in Car Grant best seller, accounting for 43% of successful applications. The plug-in Outlander, which is receiving huge levels of public interest, has outstanding fuel economy of 148mpg and Congestion Charge busting emission credentials of 44g/km.

Lance Bradley, Managing Director of Mitsubishi Motors in the UK says: “We are preparing the business for an extended period of growth with the recruitment of new staff and investment in training and dealer support. The business is performing extremely well, based on the introduction of new models and exciting growth plans over the next five years.”
Mitsubishi Motors in the UK employs 200 staff at its head office in Cirencester and a further 60 at its vehicle import handling facility at the Royal Portbury docks, Bristol. The business supports the employment of around 2000 staff at UK dealerships and service centres.

AUDI TT Offroad makes world debut in China.

Rugged reinterpretation of all-new Audi sports car with hybrid drive makes its world public debut in China

The Audi TT offroad concept breaks the mould, combining the visual and dynamic appeal of a coupe with the practicality and adaptability of a compact SUV. The four-door model, which Audi is presenting at the Beijing International Automobile Exhibition, adds an entirely new dimension to the Audi design language. Its plug-in hybrid drive with two electric motors and a system output of 408PS ensures that it can deliver in performance terms while also potentially returning in excess of 148mpg.

“The Audi TT offroad concept provides a glimpse of how we might imagine a new model in the future TT family,” says Prof. Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg, Member of the Board of Management for Technical Development. “It combines the sporty genes of the TT with the strengths of a compact Audi SUV. Its plug-in hybrid drive with the option of inductive charging is a major step toward the mobility of the future. We chose to present the Audi TT offroad concept in China, our second domestic market, because it represents the urban mobility of tomorrow: It is sustainable, dynamic, intelligent and connected.”
The plug-in hybrid drive
The plug-in hybrid drive in the Audi TT offroad concept delivers 408PS of system output and 650 Nm (479.2 lb-ft) of system torque. The show car accelerates from 0 to 62mph in 5.2 seconds and reaches its electronically governed top speed of 155mph without any trouble. Its 148.6mpg economy potential equates to a CO2 output of 45 grams per kilometre. The Audi TT offroad concept can travel for over 50 kilometres solely on electric power and thus with zero local emissions, and has a total range of up to 546 miles.
The combustion engine is a 2.0-litre TFSI producing 292PS and 380 Nm (280.3 lb-ft) of torque. The four-cylinder unit with its large turbocharger is packed with Audi's proven efficiency technology. At part load, indirect injection supplements petrol direct injection for lower fuel consumption. The exhaust manifold is integrated into the cylinder head – the foundation for the high-performance thermal management system.
A separating clutch links the transverse 2.0-litre TFSI unit to an electric motor producing 40 kW and 220 Nm (162.3 lb-ft) of torque. The slim, disc-shaped electric motor is integrated into the six-speed e-S tronic transmission. The dual-clutch transmission sends the torque to the front wheels. Mounted on the rear axle of the Audi TT offroad concept is a second electric motor independent of this drive unit. This produces a maximum of 85 kW and 270 Nm (199.1 lb-ft).

In front of the rear axle is a liquid-cooled, lithium-ion battery comprising eight modules. It contributes to the balanced 54:46 weight distribution between the front and rear axles and to the low centre of gravity. The battery stores up to 12 kWh of energy, enough for an electric range of 31 miles. An Audi wall box, which manages the energy feed conveniently and intelligently and can deal with a variety of voltages and outlets, is used for stationary charging.
The show car is also designed for use with Audi Wireless Charging technology for contactless inductive charging. The infrastructure side – a plate with a coil and an inverter (AC/AC converter) – is placed on the parking spot of the Audi TT offroad concept and connected to the power grid. The charging process begins automatically when the car drives onto the plate. The alternating magnetic field of the infrastructure side induces a 3.3 kW alternating current across the air gap in the secondary coil, which is integrated into the vehicle. The current is inverted and fed into the electrical system.
Charging stops automatically when the battery is fully charged. It takes about as long as charging via a cable, and the driver can interrupt the process at any time. The Audi Wireless Charging technology is more than 90 per cent efficient, and is not affected by weather factors such as rain, snow or ice. The alternating field, which is only generated when a car is on the plate, is not harmful to people or animals.
The intelligent plug-in hybrid concept of the Audi TT offroad concept makes the show car as efficient as it is fittingly responsive. The Audi drive select management system offers three driving modes. EV mode gives priority to electric driving. In this case, the front drive unit is inactive, and the electric motor at the rear axle with its powerful torque can rapidly accelerate the four-door car to a maximum of 80mph. In Hybrid mode, all three drive systems work together in various ways as necessary. In many situations the front electric motor assumes the role of a generator. Powered by the engine, it recharges the battery and thus extends the electric range. Full system output is available in Sport mode. During “boosting,” i.e. strong acceleration, the rear electric motor works together with the TFSI petrol engine. The same thing happens when the hybrid management system decides that all-wheel drive is appropriate. In such situations, e.g. on a slippery road or in light off-road conditions, this essentially makes the Audi TT offroad concept an e-tron quattro.
When the driver takes his or her foot off the accelerator, free-wheeling or “coasting” is activated. Recuperation occurs here at low speeds and when braking. The driver can use the “Hold” and “Charge” functions in the MMI system to specifically influence the battery's charge state, e.g. to increase storage of electric energy so that it can be used over the final miles to the destination.

Chassis
The Audi TT offroad concept shows its strong character on any road surface and in any terrain. On tarmac the show car is dynamic and composed, and it can easily handle more rugged terrain thanks to its high ground clearance, short overhangs and e‑tron quattro all-wheel drive. 255/40-series tyres are mounted on 21-inch wheels, whose delicate five-arm design draws on the look of the Audi e-tron models. Dark trim provides contrast.
Many of the components of the McPherson front suspension are made of aluminium; the four-link rear axle handles longitudinal and transverse forces separately. The ratio of the progressive steering changes with the steering input. The Audi drive select system allows the driver to modify the function of various technical modules in multiple steps.
Driver assistance systems
The Audi TT offroad concept show car features two Audi driver assistance systems that are almost ready for production: the junction assistant and online traffic light information technology. The junction assistant aims to help with avoidance of side-impact collisions, or to reduce their severity, where lanes merge and at junctions. Radar sensors and a wide-angle video camera scan zones to the front and sides of the car. If the system detects a vehicle approaching from the side and assesses it to be critical, graduated warnings are displayed in the Audi virtual cockpit.
Online traffic light information is a technology that connects the Audi TT offroad concept via the mobile phone network to the central traffic computer, which controls the traffic light systems in the city. Based on the information from this system, the Audi virtual cockpit shows the driver what speed to drive at in order to reach the next traffic light while it is green. The cockpit displays the time remaining when waiting for the light to turn green.
Body
Like many of the brand's new production models, the Audi TT offroad concept is also based on the versatile modular transverse matrix (MQB). The body of the show car is based on the ASF (Audi Space Frame) principle and features a hybrid concept with both steel and aluminium components. Together with the battery package of the plug-in hybrid drive system, it gives the compact crossover a low centre of gravity, which is a prerequisite for its strong performance and agile handling.
Exterior design
4.39 metres long, 1.85 metres wide and with a wheelbase of 2.63 metres – in these dimensions the Audi TT offroad concept resembles today's compact SUV, the Audi Q3. At 1.53 metres tall, however, it is 8 centimetres lower. The Sonora Yellow outer skin appears to have been modelled from a solid block; the interplay of the clearly drawn lines and the taut surfaces produces a highly dramatic design. It uses the design language of the Audi TT, but places its elements in a new context.
Horizontal lines dominate at the front of the new Audi TT offroad concept. The broad Singleframe grille bearing the four rings is sculpturally embedded in the body. Two subtle indents in the lower region make the grille appear lighter. Narrow louvres in the grille insert form a structure typical of the Audi e-tron models.

The large air inlets below the Matrix LED headlights are framed in sharp edges and structured with louvres. A third, flat inlet below the grille joins them together. Inside is a blade that increases downforce on the front axle and makes the front of the Audi TT offroad concept appear even wider.
When viewed from the side, the relationship between the show car and the Audi TT is even more apparent. The overhangs are short; the greenhouse is low and drawn in sharply toward the top. The height ratio is 30:70. The window design follows the sleek coupe-like line. The roof contour drops down again early; fine light-refracting edges make the powerful, very flat C-pillars appear lighter.
The Audi TT offroad concept has a powerful, hunkered-down stance on the road. The broad semi-circles of the wheel wells form separate geometric bodies, sharply accentuating the massive wheels. The front wheel well intersects the joint of the bonnet, which runs above the door as a tornado line and continues to the rear of the car.
The inner arc segments of the wheel wells are painted in contrasting grey. Together with the bottom zone of the sill strips, which is also grey, they reduce the visual weight of the body and underscore the robust character of the show car. Adorned with a quattro logo, the sill itself forms a bold light-refracting edge.
At the rear, horizontal lines frame athletically taut surfaces. The offset bumper envelops the two round tailpipes of the exhaust system. A blade with a quattro logo connects them and provides for visual width.
Interior
The interior of the Audi TT offroad concept offers space for four. The rear seat can accommodate two adults comfortably. The slim sports seats with integrated head restraints ensure lateral hold. The side bolsters of the front seats are very strongly contoured.
The design ideas behind the new TT were also the inspiration for the interior of the show car. The top of the instrument panel is designed as a wing. This is supported by a visible aluminium structure that as a horizontal design element incorporates the air vents and underscores the width of the interior. The round air vents are reminiscent of jet engines and incorporate the air conditioning controls. The slender instrument panel is focused on the driver.
Besides elements from the TT, the design of the centre console and the doors of the show car also include numerous elements from the Q family, such as a robustly designed tunnel support and functional cup holders in front of the shift lever.
A large number of functions can be controlled via the multifunction steering wheel or the MMI terminal on the centre tunnel console. The menu structure is oriented on a smart phone, with all key functions easy to reach. The driver can use finger gestures on the touchpad of the MMI terminal to zoom or scroll in lists and maps. All other functions can be easily controlled via the multifunction steering wheel without having to look away from the road.

Serving as the display instrument is the Audi virtual cockpit. The 12.3-inch TFT display produces high-quality 3D graphics. The driver can customise the display at the touch of a button. The classic view is dominated by the speedometer and the power meter for the plug-in hybrid drive. In Infotainment mode, elements such as the navigation map or online traffic information displays take centre stage. The Audi virtual cockpit also displays detailed information on charging with the Audi Wireless Charging technology.
The centre tunnel console, which extends all the way to the back seat, contains numerous cup holders and storage bins. One of these is reserved for the Audi phone box, which connects the driver's mobile phone to the on-board electronics and also charges it inductively, when necessary.
The show car's ventilation system also includes an ionizer – an updated version of the system used in the A6 and the A8. Ionization significantly improves the quality of the air in the cabin. The standard cabin air filters also remove particulates from the air and are unmatched by the immediate competition. Thanks to the systematic further development of these filters, even allergens will be neutralised in the future.

The show car is equipped with three Audi Smart Displays. The fast tablets serve as a mobile infotainment system for use inside and outside the car. From DVD or TV streaming to controlling the radio or navigation planning, the Audi Smart Display is extremely versatile. One click on the “more” button in the start menu establishes an Internet connection via Audi connect at LTE speed. The user now has access to all of the functions of the Android operating system, from browsing with Google Chrome to visiting the Google Play store.
The Audi Smart Display was systematically developed for use in cars and can easily withstand even extreme temperatures. Rear seat passengers can place the display in special mountings on the backs of the front seats. All three displays can be used simultaneously. When not using the displays, passengers in the rear seat can stow them in a specially designed slot between the seats, where the displays are also recharged. The front seat passenger can store the display in the glove compartment.
Two loudspeakers for the Bang & Olufsen Advanced Sound System are installed in the head restraints of the individual seats. They provide for optimal surround sound throughout the cabin to create a special sound experience. The head restraint speakers are also used for voice announcements and telephony. This guarantees extraordinarily good sound quality and outstanding speech transmission even during fast, sporty driving.
A custom-designed box in the load area contains a 1:8-scale radio-controlled (RC) car. There is also space for the battery and tools. The power-folding individual rear seats allow for a nearly flat cargo floor.
In keeping with the character of the show car, the interior features fine materials and a combination of light and dark grey tones. Granite Grey Fine Nappa leather is used on the rim of the steering wheel and in the outer zones of the door liners. The headliner, the pillar covers, the door panels and the centre tunnel are covered with matching Alcantara. The door armrests, the centre tunnel console and the seats with diamond-patterned stitching are covered in very soft, luxurious Stone Grey leather from the Italian company Poltrona Frau.

The new Outlander PHEV, the best hybrid 4x4 on the market.

Mitsubishi Motors is pleased to announce the arrival of the game changing Outlander Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV).
The Mitsubishi Outlander is a car with an impeccable pedigree – and now there is an exciting addition to the range. The Outlander PHEV is, quite simply, the best 4x4 SUV PHEV available in the UK market: the product of years of research and a passion to create a car that can fulfil the promise of a true hybrid.
Representing a hugely exciting opportunity for Mitsubishi Motors, the all-new Outlander PHEV will make a dramatic entrance into Mitsubishi showrooms all across the UK in May although customers can place an order from this week. Eagerly awaited, this SUV is the greenest yet.

The Outlander PHEV is the most practical vehicle that qualifies for the Government’s £5,000 Plug-in Car Grant (P-iCG) with 5 seats, 4WD capability and a very large boot. The car is kind to the planet emitting just 44 g/km which means that there is no Vehicle Excise Duty (VED) payable.
Pricing
Mitsubishi Motors is delighted to announce that the Outlander PHEV is the only plug-in hybrid in the UK market that does not carry a price premium for its hybrid technology. In other words customers can choose between a diesel or PHEV Outlander for the same price. The entry-level GX3hOutlander PHEV is on sale for £28,249 after the grant. This is the same price as the Outlander diesel GX3 auto.
There are two other Outlander PHEV variants, GX4h priced at £32,899 and GX4hs which is £34,999 (after the grant). There is no charge for the PHEV equipment, but these two variants are £1,000 more than their diesel equivalent due to added specification.
Benefit in Kind
Outlander PHEV’s extremely low emissions mean that the car is perfect for company car drivers. Attracting a benefit in kind rate of 5%, a 40% tax payer will pay just £665 in this tax year, less than some of the smallest cars in the market.
A typical company car driver keeps their vehicle for three years. Over three years a 40% tax payer will save the following money by choosing Outlander PHEV over any of the vehicles listed below:

Fuel Efficiency
Put simply, the Outlander PHEV offers environmentally friendly, all –electric operation for everyday use and engine power for longer journeys. The vehicle’s unique combination of electric motors and a 2.0 petrol engine give it amazing flexibility in optimising fuel efficiency and environmental performance whilst providing a cruising range of 512 miles.
On electric power only, the Outlander PHEV can travel up to 32.5 miles, enabling it to function entirely as an electric vehicle in most everyday situations – it more than covers the UK’s average daily commute of 25 miles.1
The official fuel consumption figure for PHEV is 148mpg, based on industry standards set by European law. Unlike non-hybrid vehicles, it is hard to predict what MPG the vehicle will return in real life. A lot depends on journey length and speed – for instance, for the average daily commute of 25 miles most people will achieve much higher than 148mpg. For longer journeys at higher speeds it may achieve less than 148mpg.

Despite the Outlander PHEV’s ultra-low emissions and outstanding fuel economy this vehicle is still a fully competitive SUV with no compromises.
No Compromise on Safety
Careful development of the Outlander PHEV’s architecture and safety equipment means that the all-new vehicle achieves an impressive 5 star Euro NCAP safety rating. Super All Wheel Control (S-AWC) is standard on all models along with 7 SRS airbags and Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution (RISE) safety body, so the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is fully equipped to protect occupants in the event of a collision.
The range topping GX4hs comes with the advanced e-assist safety system: Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Mitigation and clever Adaptive Cruise Control technology.
It also has an Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System (AVAS), which produces an audible warning sound to alert pedestrians when in EV mode. This can be heard whenever the vehicle is in motion, up to a speed of 22mph.
No Compromise on Space and Quality
The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV offers style and substance. Benefitting from advanced specifications, the ‘peaceful’ Outlander PHEV has good positioning of sound proofing materials, the exhaust noise has been reduced and extra ‘engine room’ soundproofing added in order to ensure the vehicle remains as quiet as EV Drive Mode, even when the engine is in use.
Style and substance are also reflected in the interior of the vehicle. A simple, tasteful design with smooth lines made from high-quality materials gives the Outlander PHEV a rich, premium feel. 
The crystal fibre-like dashboard ‘envelopes’ the driver, and there are ergonomic steering wheel controls and high-resolution, easy-to-read instrument displays including a hi-definition LCD multi information display system which provides easy access to a range e-Assist and eco-driving support data, including vehicle energy flow. On the GX4h and GX4hs, the Mitsubishi Multi Communications System also shows this information.
There is certainly no compromise on room with masses on interior cabin space and a 463L volume to the cargo area.
No Compromise on Performance, Ride and Handling
Storing the drive battery under the floor improves safety by lowering the centre of gravity and reducing roll movement, without affecting SUV functionality.
Twin Motors
Smaller, lighter, higher output versions of the permanent magnet synchronous motors used in the i-MiEV are located front and rear. These have a maximum output of 60 kW each and maximum torques of 137 Nm (front) and 195 Nm (rear), and deliver high torque and power from the outset.
Twin Motor 4WD
Leveraging its proven expertise in 4WD control technology, Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) has developed a new Twin Motor 4WD system that delivers power independently to the front wheels (from the front motor and/or engine) and rear wheels (from the rear motor). The use of motors and absence of mechanical connections such as a propeller shaft mean the Twin Motor 4WD delivers better response and finer control than conventional 4WD systems and reduces friction loss.
Twin Motor 4WD is coupled with MMC’s S-AWC (Super-All Wheel Control) integrated vehicle dynamics control system, which combines front- and rear-wheel-drive control and left- and right-wheel-brake control to provide consistent handling and unbeatable stability on the road. Two modes are offered, selectable at the flick of a switch: Normal Mode for ordinary conditions and Lock Mode for enhanced all-terrain performance.
Drive Modes
The Outlander PHEV has three drive modes:
1. EV Drive Mode
EV Drive Mode is an all-electric mode in which the front and rear motors drive the vehicle using only electricity from the drive battery.
2. Series Hybrid Mode
In Series Hybrid Mode, the petrol engine operates as a generator supplying electricity to the electric motors.
3. Parallel Hybrid Mode
The system switches to Parallel Hybrid Mode when the vehicle reaches high speeds. In this mode the high- efficiency petrol engine provides most of the motive power, assisted by the electric motors as required
2.0-litre Petrol Engine
The Outlander PHEV also comes with an efficient 2.0-litre petrol engine. It is fitted with MMC’s MIVEC (Mitsubishi Innovative Valve Timing Electronic Control) technology, which keeps the engine in optimal efficiency ranges by continuously varying the timing of the air intake valves according to engine speed in Parallel Hybrid Mode.
Drive Battery
The drive battery is a high-capacity lithium-ion battery developed for the PHEV system based on the technology used in the i-MiEV. It consists of 80 cells housed in a battery pack enclosed in a secure frame, and has a total voltage of 300V and total storage capacity of 12.0 kWh.
Transaxles
Taking advantage of the fact that electric motors require no complex transmission mechanisms, the front and rear transaxles incorporate simple single-speed fixed-reduction gears for smoother travel, free from ‘shift shock’. The front transaxle also has a built-in clutch that switches the system to Parallel Drive Mode mainly for engine-powered travel at high speeds.
Regenerative Braking
During deceleration, the motors function as generators so that electricity can be generated to charge the drive battery. The regenerative braking can be increased when the brake pedal is pressed. The strength of regenerative braking is adjustable using the selector lever, which has three strength settings, and a paddle selector on the steering wheel, which offers six strength settings.

Warranty
The all-new Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV offers a 3-year / unlimited mileage warranty on all ICE components and a 5-year / 100,000 mile warranty on EV components. As with all Mitsubishi models, the Outlander PHEV will come with a pan-European roadside assistance package valid for 3-years. The service interval for the new Outlander PHEV is 12,500 miles/12 months (whichever occurs first) and Mitsubishi’s extremely competitive service plan (MSP), covering the first three scheduled services is available for just £500.
