One of the most outragious Mitsubishi Pick Ups has been developed for some outrageous challenges ahead.

Mitsubishi Motors in the UK will showcase the one-off Mitsubishi L200 that has been built in conjunction with Top Gear magazine at the 2017 Commercial Vehicle Show, held at the NEC, Birmingham from April 25 - 27.

Developed in secret by the world’s biggest-selling enthusiast magazine and codenamed ‘Project Swarm’, the totally unique Mitsubishi L200 will take centre stage on the brand’s eye-catching stand (Hall 4, stand 4G90).

Fully exploring the potential of the Mitsubishi L200, ‘Project Swarm’ is built in the style of a ‘Pre-Runner’ off-road vehicle – specially modified production vehicles that are beefed-up to ‘pre-run’ stages of off-road desert racers.

Tom Ford, Associate Editor for Top Gear magazine, recently named as one of Top Gear America’s hosts, joined forces with renowned engineer Ralph Hosier of RH Engineering, best known for his work on National Geographic Channel show Supercar Megabuild, to transform his standard Mitsubishi L200 long-term test vehicle into one of the wildest Mitsubishi vehicles on the road.

While it still has the interior comfort of a production L200, enhanced by a set of bespoke Cobra racing seats, the Desert Warrior has been made even more capable thanks to a range of additions, including an external roll cage, heavily modified suspension, oversized wheels with self-inflating tyres, long range LED lights and some extra kit that will be needed to negotiate some of the world’s harshest terrain.

Top Gear is planning to use the Mitsubishi L200 Desert Warrior for a very special upcoming challenge which will feature in the magazine, and online, and detail many of the trucks additional features.

Commenting on his radical Mitsubishi L200, Tom Ford, said: “I’ve always had an obsession with ‘Pre-runners’ and this is my idea of the perfect desert truck. It’s a very serious truck but it’s got that little bit of theatre that makes me think it’s got something extra to it. It’s still an L200, but it has been made to be max-attack and it will not break. It’s exactly what I wanted – something that has the appearance of a Hot Wheels toy and is every bit as tough as it looks!”

The Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio, the most powerful Alfa Romeo ever created for road use, has been crowned winner of one of the most coveted awards in the motoring industry.

It may be a few more tantalising weeks before the new ŠKODA Kodiaq reaches British shores, but the acclaimed SUV has already secured its first key UK award – scooping the Best Car for Big Families accolade by TopGear Magazine.

TopGear Magazine and website were so impressed with the new Kodiaq – ŠKODA’s first ever seven-seater – that they named it Best Family Car in the title’s Best Cars in the World issue. 

The Kodiaq saw off tough opposition to take the title, with the judging panel heaping praise on the new model’s design, practicality and incredible value for money.

TopGear Magazine said: "Minimising stress is at the heart of the Kodiaq’s mission. 

That’s what its versatility is all about, because you never fear it won’t ably put its shoulder to any task family life throws at it: fetching and carrying of people and stuff, hauling or going mildly off-road or defeating slippery roads. It’s reassuring and safe, but it manages to avoid tedium.”

The Kodiaq, along with the other category winners, appears in the January issue of TopGear Magazine that hits the newsstands from 30th November. 

The Kodiaq will be available in 24 different variants when order books open on 1 December. The range comprises four trim levels; S, SE, SE L, and a new Edition grade that celebrates the car’s arrival.

The Ford Focus RS, has claimed the title of BBC Top Gear Magazine’s Car of the Year, beating off serious competition from the significantly higher priced models, such as Porsche and Ferrari, to be the overall winner for one of the most coveted awards in the motoring industry.

Every year, Top Gear Magazine rates and reviews over 300 new cars. Each award winner is selected by Top Gear's expert motoring journalists – including some help from The Stig - and now the top 18 have been named.

The Focus is the latest in the long line of fast Fords to carry the iconic RS badge and the judges described it as a car that “combines such vivid personality with real practicality and serves it up at such a tempting price”. Naturally, it also picked up a second award in the Hot Hatch category. With a £29,995 price tag, the Ford Focus RS is one of cheapest cars on the list with a top speed of 165mph and hitting 0-62mph in 4.7 seconds. Winning Car of the Year is no stranger to Ford; the Fiesta ST also won the award in 2013.

Charlie Turner, Editor-In-Chief, Top Gear Magazine says “The Focus RS really is the complete package and claims our top award ahead of other category winners costing ten times as much. It delivers accessible performance and entertainment, with looks and practicality thrown in, and proves you don’t always need to spend big money to have a huge amount of fun. Other notable winners include: Mazda, who picked up the Roadster of the Year Award for the new version of the iconic MX-5; and Urban Warrior of the Year for the CX-3, described as an “urban SUV with a sense of humour”.

Porsche once again demonstrated their performance pedigree; picking up two awards; the Hardcore Car of the Year with the Porsche 911 GT3 RS and Sports Car of the Year for the Porsche Cayman GT4.

Top Gear magazine has had a complete overhaul, with a fresh look and re-design. There are new sections, layouts and feature formats. Plus, some of the new presenters from the show are featured in the Awards Issue with Chris Evans, Eddie Jordan, Chris Harris and Rory Reid all contributing.

The Jaguar XF has been named the BBC Top Gear magazine, Saloon Car Of The Year in their Awards ceremony.

The Jaguar XF has been crowned BBC Top Gear’s Saloon Car of the Year, praised for its ‘immaculate blend of comfort and verve’. It’s the latest in a series of major awards for the new XF, having been named Best Executive Car at the Fleet News Awards and Best Director’s Car at the SME Company Car Awards in the last month alone.

Top Gear Magazine praised the XF’s stiff, lightweight aluminium-intensive construction in particular, which enables the highest standards of performance, efficiency, safety and dynamics. More importantly for the Top Gear judges, it gives the XF a critical edge in the formidably competitive Saloon Car category.

Each of the Top Gear Magazine Awards winners is picked by the publication’s expert motoring journalists – and The Stig – who rate and review more than 300 cars each year, before announcing the best in each category.

McLaren Automotive is named as Manufacturer Of The Year from the BBC Top Gear Magazine.

McLaren Automotive has been presented with the accolade of Manufacturer of Year in the 2016 BBC Top Gear Magazine Awards in recognition of the rapid growth and global success of the company, both achieved in so short a time. 

The announcement follows a ’vintage’ year for McLaren, its most successful to-date, with five new cars launched and another sales record achieved. McLaren also predicts 2015 will be its third consecutive year of profitability.

Models across the three-tier McLaren range also received praise with the overall strength and breadth of the line-up highlighted as key to the award: ‘We’re not evaluating them as a product line-up, but assessing each in its own competitive environment. 

All of them are exceptional, arguably the very best in their class. That McLaren has got to this stage in such a short time frame speaks volumes for the company.’

Particular attention is drawn to one model in the Sports Series, Super Series and Ultimate Series, all launched during 2015: the 570S Coupé, 675LT Coupé and McLaren P1™ GTR.  Each is individually commended. Of the 570S Coupé, Top Gear states: ‘It might actually be the strongest – and certainly the most important.’

BBC Top Gear Magazine names the new Rolls Royce Dawn as its 2016 Luxury Car Of The Year.

The Rolls-Royce Dawn has earned BBC Top Gear Magazine’s coveted 2016 ‘Luxury Car of the Year’ award, just days after the international launch of the car began in the winelands around Cape Town, South Africa.

The most uncompromised open-top motoring experience in the world, Dawn has won plaudits from some of the most highly respected international commentators, with many declaring that the new Rolls-Royce redefines the notion of a true super-luxury drophead.
