Nicky Hayden 69
This weekend I’ll be at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, an event I took part in back in 2005. This time I will be riding my Fireblade up the hill and this is something I am looking forward to because it’s truly a great event. There are so many legendary machines there as well as drivers and riders who have made history. It’s definitely going to be quite different from a racing weekend and I’ll surely try to have some fun!

UK pricing for the all-new Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio has been announced at a press conference today, June 23, at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Powered by a new 510hp, 600Nm Bi-Turbo V6 petrol engine, with an eight-speed paddle shift automatic transmission as standard, the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio is capable of sprinting to 62mph in just 3.9* seconds and on to a top speed of more than 190mph*^ while still being cable of up to 49mpg* on the official extra-urban fuel efficiency cycle, with low emissions of 189g/km*.

Careful management of weights and materials has resulted in perfect 50/50 weight distribution across its axles, while the sophisticated four-arm Alfa™ Link rear suspension (with an Alfa Romeo-patented solution for toe adjustment) and new double-wishbone front set up have been specifically tuned to maximise its dynamic abilities and enhance driving comfort.
Also débuting on the Giulia is a new semi-virtual steering axis which optimises the filtering effect and guarantees rapid, accurate steering by keeping a constant caster trail in corners, while the advanced Alfa™ Torque Vectoring double-clutch rear differential system precisely controls the torque delivery to each rear wheel to improve traction in low grip conditions without having to run up against an invasive stability control system.
To obtain an excellent weight-to-power ratio and outstanding torsional rigidity, the new Giulia utilises an array of high-strength and ultra-lightweight materials including, for example, carbon fibre for the driveshaft, aluminium composite and plastic for the rear crossmember and aluminium for the doors, wings, engines (petrol and diesel), brakes and suspensions - including the front suspension domes and front and rear subframes.
The Giulia Quadrifoglio takes this attention to detail a stage further with its carbon fibre bonnet, roof, front splitter, rear spoiler and body inserts, as well as aluminium for the doors and wings.
The braking system has been tweaked using aluminium elements, while carbon ceramic brake discs and front seats with a carbon fibre structural frame can also be specified as options.

The Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio will be available to order shortly with details of the rest of the Alfa Romeo Giulia range to be announced closer to the vehicle's on sale date.

GOODWOOD - Rolls Royce continues to suply the course car as well as two new special "Black Badge" Editions.

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars will celebrate the 2016 Goodwood Festival of Speed with a dark and edgy presence on the famous Hillclimb. Wraith Black Badge and Ghost Black Badge will be on familiar turf, with Goodwood House in sight of the Home of Rolls-Royce.
Wraith Black Badge
Wraith Black Badge can be seen on the Supercar Run up the hill and in between Hillclimbs in the Supercar Paddock. Already the most powerful Rolls-Royce in the world at 624hp (465kw), Wraith now benefits from 70Nm more torque, tweaked air suspension and upgraded gearbox leading to more spirited driving.

The car presented is finished in Black Badge Black, with the interior in Black and Mugello Red contrast leather, and the facia in aerospace-grade aluminium-threaded carbon fibre composite surfacing. Wraith Black Badge will be driven by Festival of Speed favourite, Justin Law.
Ghost Black Badge
The Rolls-Royce Course Car this year will be a Ghost Black Badge. The car is finished in Black Badge Black, with the interior in Black and Cobalto Blue contrast leather and the facia in aerospace-grade aluminium-threaded carbon fibre composite surfacing.

Ghost Black Badge benefits from a power increase of 40hp (30kw) to 603hp (450kw) and torque increase of 60Nm compared to current Ghost, whilst upgrades to the 8-speed automatic transmission give Ghost Black Badge an added sense of urgency in how it delivers its power.
The Rolls-Royce Course Car will be driven by a team from Rolls-Royce Motor Cars and can be seen on the course between each Hillclimb Run throughout the weekend.
Both cars were built specifically for the event and feature a Spirit of Ecstasy in high-gloss black vamp, Double R badges inverted to become silver on black and black starlight headliner. Surfaces that are traditionally chrome have turned dark, such as the front grille surround, boot lid finisher, lower air inlet finisher and exhaust pipes.
The Black Badge ‘Unlimited’ infinity logo is embroidered on the upholstery and both cars are shod with 21” Carbon Alloy Composite Wheels.
Black Badge
Rolls-Royce Black Badge speaks to the darker, more assertive, confident and demanding aesthetic of a new breed of Rolls-Royce customer. As a truly Bespoke response to their desires, the interplay of brand and customer has had a transformative effect on the appearance and substance of Rolls-Royce Ghost and Wraith. The result is Ghost Black Badge and Wraith Black Badge.
Black Badge also brings the colour black to new levels of intensity. The multiple layers of paint and lacquer that go into creating Black Badge Black are repeatedly hand polished – the most exacting painting and polishing process ever used for a solid paint colour. The result is the deepest, darkest and most intense black ever seen on a production car surface.
In addition to Wraith Black Badge and Ghost Black Badge, an exclusive fleet of Rolls-Royce motor cars will also be evident in the Goodwood area during the Festival of Speed, with invited VIP guests being conveyed in luxury from the Company’s manufacturing plant and head office on the South-Eastern corner of the Goodwood Estate to the heart of the event.

Ford today revealed the sporty new Ford Mondeo ST‑Line at the 2016 Goodwood Festival of Speed.

The Mondeo ST-Line is the newest addition to Ford’s recently unveiled ST-Line model range that delivers bold styling inspired by Ford Performance models and features sport suspension and body styling; unique alloy wheel designs; and sport seats, perforated leather steering wheel and alloy pedals for the interior.
The new model joins the Fiesta ST-Line and Focus ST-Line on display at Goodwood, where Ford is showing a range of performance vehicles from the Ford GT Le Mans race car to the new Fiesta ST200 hot hatch.
Fiesta ST-Line and Focus ST-Line are both available to order since earlier this month and are designed for customers who aspire to the sporty image of the Ford Performance Fiesta ST and Focus ST hot-hatch models – but do not require the full performance delivered by optimised ST engines and chassis with sports technologies.
“The new Mondeo ST-Line is our sportiest Mondeo since we introduced the Mondeo ST220 model in 2002,” said Roelant de Waard, vice president, Marketing, Sales and Service, Ford of Europe. “Mondeo ST-Line adds another dimension to the broad Mondeo line-up that offers options from the fuel-efficient Mondeo ECOnetic and Mondeo Hybrid models, to the exclusive and upscale Mondeo Vignale.”
The new Mondeo ST-Line is available in five-door and estate bodystyles and delivers Ford Performance-inspired styling that includes:
  • A honeycomb design for the upper and lower front grilles in high-gloss black; LED daytime running lamps with light tube styling and new rectangular fog lamps
  • Front bumper lip spoiler and sculptured side-skirts in body colour; a sports rear bumper with high-gloss black diffuser-style insert; silver tailpipe surrounds*

  • Standard rear roof spoiler for the estate, and an optional rear roof spoiler for the five-door
As with all models in the new Ford ST-Line range, the Mondeo ST-Line is available only with high-power engine derivatives that complement the enhanced driving dynamics delivered by sport suspension – lowered by 10mm.
Diesel engine options include:
  • 150PS 2.0-litre TDCi with six-speed manual or six-speed PowerShift automatic transmission offering from 112g/km CO2 and 65.7mpg
  • 180PS and 180PS 2.0-litre TDCi with six-speed manual or six-speed PowerShift automatic transmission offering from 117g/km CO2 and 62.8mpg
The Mondeo ST-Line will feature steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters when Ford’s six-speed PowerShift automatic transmission is specified, and also is offered with Ford Intelligent All Wheel Drive.
The technology delivers a seamless transition of torque between all four wheels to provide a more secure footing on the road especially in slippery conditions and can adjust torque delivery up to 50/50 between the front and rear wheels in under 20 milliseconds – twenty times quicker than it takes to blink.
“With our new ST-Line range even more customers can experience sporty style and driving dynamics inspired by our most exciting Ford Performance line-up ever, that includes models such as the Focus RS, new Fiesta ST200 and Ford GT supercar” de Waard said. “This year we expect to sell 40,000 performance cars in Europe, a 50 per cent increase compared with 2015, which in turn saw performance car sales rise by 61 per cent compared with 2014.”

  • See custom-built GT-R drone capable of 0-62mph in 1.3 seconds
The new Nissan GT-R will be a genuine crowd-pleaser at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed.
The iconic supercar has been significantly enhanced to keep it where it belongs – on the ‘most wanted’ list of car fans around the world – and will be out to greet its adoring public this weekend (23-26 June).

Leading the charge up the famous Goodwood Hill Climb will be Brit NISMO driver Jann Mardenborough, who is returning to an event where his ‘legend’ status is already confirmed. In June 2014 the gamer-turned-racer shattered the all-time production car record for the 1.16-mile track, when his Nissan GT-R NISMO Time Attack car crossed the line in 49.27 seconds.
This year Mardenborough will be piloting the new 2017 Nissan GT-R, which has benefited from significant enhancements in key areas. Power from the 3.8-litre V6 twin-turbo engine has been hiked to 570PS, while a number of dynamic changes have made its performance more refined than ever. The most obvious upgrade to the cabin, which has a more sophisticated and premium feel to it, while the exterior styling has been enhanced front and rear to provide a more contemporary look.
Thousands of Festival guests will have their chance to get close to the Mardenborough experience – by sitting in the passenger seat of the new GT-R while he gives them the thrill ride of their lives in the virtual world. Nissan has created the world’s first 4D VR driving simulator, using the latest Samsung Gear VR headsets and state-of-the-art dynamic chairs. Up to 15 guests at a time will be on board as the Welsh race ace puts the iconic GT-R through its paces.
Back in the real world, another record breaker will be burning rubber for Festival guests with the Guinness World Record-holding GT-R NISMO. In April this year, the car broke the record for the fastest ever drift – a 30 degree angle at a staggering 304.96 km/h or 189.5mph. Nissan’s long-time partner on the project is Motul, worldwide specialist of high-performance lubricants. Motul developed and supplied NISMO competition oil to optimise performance of the drift car.
Also on display will be the Nissan GT-R drone – one of the fastest accelerating FPV (First Person View) racing drones in the world. Custom-built for a Silverstone head-to-head race with the new GT-R,it can hit 62mph in just 1.3 seconds. See a film of the battle by visiting the Nissan stand.
