Porsche pushes out the boat with the World Premiere of the new Panamera Sports Saloon.

Porsche CEO Oliver Blume presents the latest generation in Berlin
On Tuesday, June 28th, Porsche celebrated the world premiere of the new 2017 Panamera in Berlin accompanied by a spectacular display of lights, music and choreography. Over 300 international media representatives – as well as guests from business, sports and the entertainment industry – were able to view the second generation of the sports sedan for the first time.

The new 2017 Porsche Panamera, which has been redeveloped from the ground up, combines two contrasting characteristics better than ever before: it offers both the performance of a sports car and the comfort of a luxury sedan.
"We have tapped into the segment of luxury sport sedans with the Panamera. Since it launched in 2009, over 150,000 units of the Panamera have been sold.
The new model represents a completely redeveloped automobile – with new engines, a new design and new technologies. Furthermore, we are now manufacturing the second generation of the vehicle entirely at our Leipzig production site.
To this end, we have invested a sum of 500 million Euros – which includes a completely new body manufacturing facility," Oliver Blume, Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche AG, emphasized.
The design language of the new Panamera creates a link to the Porsche 911 through its even more dynamic flyline and by using specific design elements of the iconic sports car.
"An observer will immediately recognize the coupĂ©-like roof line, but it is much 'faster', even more dynamic and includes a new side window look that emphasizes the coupe-like side view even more," said Michael Mauer, Head of Style Porsche AG, who explained the design objectives that were set for the new model.
"The new Panamera can be identified as a Panamera at first glance, but also as the new Panamera.
Its strengths have been reinforced, its weaknesses have been eradicated and above all its distinctive character has been preserved."
The new twin-turbo engines of the Panamera are more powerful than before, and thanks to the new eight-speed dual-clutch transmission (PDK II) they are up to 16 percent more fuel-efficient according to the New European Driving Cycle.
The Panamera will launch with two engines: the 550 hp Panamera Turbo and the 440 hp Panamera 4S. Both models will be equipped with all-wheel drive as standard.
To provide an even larger spread between supple ride comfort and agile handling, the Panamera now offers features such as the new three-chamber air suspension, rear axle steering and the new electronic 4D Chassis Control chassis management sys-tem. Many new assistance systems also enhance ride comfort as well as safety.
In the new Panamera, Porsche is also introducing a future-oriented display and control concept. The new Porsche Advanced Cockpit with its smartphone-like user interfaces and configurable LED screens impresses with its intuitive functionality.
Furthermore, the new Porsche Communication Management (PCM 4.1) offers an entirely new range of connectivity by its intelligent digital functions and online services.
In the new Panamera, Porsche Connect is being introduced in all models. It extends existing vehicle functions by adding digital services and apps such as those used to control certain vehicle functions remotely by smartphone – and others to make more efficient use of the driver's time on the go.

Porsche show significant gains across the world, with Panamera showing strongest growth.

Panamera sport sedan shows strongest sales growth
The Stuttgart-based sports car manufacturer has delivered 120,000 new vehicles to customers worldwide from January to August 2014, thus achieving an increase of 12 percent in comparison to the same period last year. In August 2014, Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG delivered around 15,000 vehicles – a jump of 30 percent in comparison to the same month last year.
"Over the course of this year, we have achieved quite a strong growth worldwide,” Bernhard Maier, Member of the Executive Board Sales and Marketing of Porsche AG, stated. “We posted two-digit growth in Europe as well – despite existing uncertainties in several markets. The new Cayenne will provide further stimulus for growth during the next few months and support our qualitative growth strategy."

So far this year, Porsche has recorded similar growth rates in its three biggest sales regions. The sports car maker has announced an increase of 16 percent in Europe, with a little less than 39,000 new cars delivered to customers. In China, more than 28,000 vehicles were handed over in the period from January to August 2014, surpassing the figure of the previous year by 15 percent. In the U.S. market, the deliveries rose 12 percent, to reach a sales figure of nearly 32,000 units sold.
With an increase of 23 percent, the Panamera posted the highest growth in the on-going year: 16,700 sport sedans were delivered to customers all over the world. The second generation of the Cayman mid-engine sports car coupé was also very popular and outdid last year's figure by 16 percent, with 7,200 vehicle deliveries.

At this year’s Geneva Motor Show (3 - 16 March) Porsche is putting the emphasis on its return to the highest level of international sports car racing.

The highlight is the world premiere of the new Porsche 919 Hybrid for the top LMP1 category of the World Endurance Championship (WEC) in 2014, with the 24 Hours of Le Mans as the undisputed highlight of the season.

The new efficiency-based regulations of the WEC stipulate innovative hybrid drives; the 919 Hybrid can therefore be regarded as a research laboratory for the technology of future Porsche production vehicles.

The innovative LMP1 race car will be flanked on the stage in Geneva by the Porsche 911 RSR which will also be racing in all eight rounds of the WEC this season, in the GT category.

Following the global unveiling of the Macan compact SUV last November at the Los Angeles Auto Show, Porsche is presenting the S Diesel model to the public for the first time in Geneva. The Macan S Diesel features a turbocharged 258 hp engine with PDK transmission, and lines up alongside the two petrol-engined models, the 340 hp 3.0-litre V6 Macan S and 400 hp 3.6-litre V6 Macan Turbo. Active all-wheel drive with Porsche Traction Management is standard on all models.

The 911 Targa is also celebrating its European debut next week. The styling cues of this new model pay homage to the original 911 Targa design from 1960s. It features an innovative electric folding centre roof section, and curved glass rear window.

USA - Porsche announces new 911 Targa at the NAIAS in Detroit.

At the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit, Porsche is introducing two new models to the 911 range: the 911 Targa 4 and 911 Targa 4S. These models are the first to combine the classic Targa concept with cutting edge, innovative roof technology. Just like the legendary original 911 Targa of 1965, the new models feature the distinctive Targa roof bar, a movable front roof section, and a wraparound rear window. But unlike the classic 911 Targa, the roof segment can be opened and closed at the push of a button. The fully automatic roof system stows the Targa top behind the rear seats.

Both 911 Targa models exclusively come in AWD version, featuring the wider rear track and body, and the same Porsche Traction Management (PTM), found in all 911 all-wheel-drive models. It is an active all-wheel-drive system that helps to ensure the optimal distribution of drive power for optimum traction in most road scenarios, whether on long straights, through tight corners, or on surfaces with different friction coefficients. The combination of the wide body, the Targa bar, and the wraparound rear window results in an extremely sporty and low-slung profile.

The 911 Targa 4 is powered by a horizontally opposed 3.4-liter 6-cylinder engine with 350 hp. Equipped with the optional Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) and Sport Chrono package, the 911 Targa 4 accelerates from zero to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds and is capable of a top track speed of 174 mph (175 mph with the manual transmission). The 911 Targa 4S delivers 400 hp from its 3.8-liter horizontally opposed 6-cylinder engine, and accelerates from zero to 60 mph in 4.2 seconds when equipped with optional PDK and Sport Chrono package. The 911 Targa 4S is capable of reaching a top track speed of 183 mph when equipped with a manual transmission and 182 mph with PDK.

The 911 Targa 4 will have an MSRP of $101,600 while the 911 Targa 4S model will have an MSRP of $116,200. Both cars also have a destination charge of $995. Deliveries of the 911 Targa in the U.S. are scheduled to begin this summer.
