Nissan announces a range of trim level changes with a new N-Connecta replacing n-tec and n-tec+.

• Trim changes, new option packs and equipment upgrades introduced to the multi-award-winning Nissan Qashqai range in 2016

Nissan is pleased to announce a series of changes to the multi-award-winning Qashqai line-up to further enhance the model within the crossover segment and align the grade line-up with other vehicles in the Nissan range.

The introduction of the N-Connecta grade will be a direct replacement for the existing n-tec and n-tec+* model versions, with both grades closed to ordering as supply runs out. Pricing and model specification remain unchanged.

To simplify the range further, Acenta Premium will be closed to ordering once supply runs out. The Visa, Acenta and Tekna trim levels remain unchanged.

In addition to the N-Connecta grade change, an increased number of option packs will be offered across the Qashqai range which add a greater level of customer choice and premium personalisation.

Further enhancing the Qashqai range for 2016, all DiG-T 163 versions (N-Connecta and Tekna trims) will gain multi-link rear suspension as standard with no price increase. This upgrade brings greater levels of ride comfort and refinement to the DiG-T 163 powertrain.

DiG-T 163 variants will also benefit from an increased fuel tank capacity from 55 to 65 litres, offering a longer range between fill-ups. Pricing, fuel consumption and performance figures remain unchanged.

Buyers of the all-new X-Trail are set to receive a double dose of good news with the arrival of a new DIG-T 163 engine option. Not only will new owners benefit from one of the most advanced and fuel-efficient petrol engines on the market, they will also find that X-Trail ownership is now even more affordable.

The introduction of the new DIG-T 163 engine reduces the award-winning X-Trail’s entry price to £21,995 – that’s £1,460 lower than the current dCi 130 entry grade model.

Available to order now, with the first deliveries expected next month, the X-Trail’s new 1.6-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol unit combines sharp performance with low CO₂ output and exceptional fuel economy. Fuel consumption for Visia and Acenta models is an impressive 45.6mpg (44.1mpg for n-tec and Tekna), while CO₂ emissions are just 145g/km  (149g/km for n-tec and Tekna). In terms of performance, the new X-Trail DIG-T 163 can sprint from 0-62mph in 9.7 seconds and has a top speed of 124mph.

Already a popular choice in the Qashqai range, the new DIG-T 163 engine is the most powerful engine in the new X-Trail range, and sits alongside the existing dCi 130PS unit.

Featuring advanced turbocharging technology and a host of features designed to maximise performance and economy, the new unit develops 163PS of power at 5,600rpm and 240Nm of torque between 2,000 and 4,000rpm. It is offered in two-wheel drive form only and a six-speed manual transmission is fitted as standard. These impressive figures highlight Nissan's downsizing philosophy and prove that you don't need a large capacity to deliver strong acceleration and in-gear flexibility.

To help drivers go further for less, the new DIG-T 163 is equipped with Start/Stop ignition system and delivers the kind of smooth, responsive and high quality driving experience that Nissan customers have come to expect.

The new DIG-T 163 engine is available across all standard X-Trail grades, with Acenta, n-tec and Tekna offering seven seater options.

Following on from the launch of the n-tec trim on X-Trail, Qashqai and Pulsar, Nissan has now introduced the popular trim to the British-built Note model range.

The new Note n-tec sits between the range-topping Tekna and mid-grade Acenta Premium featuring a number of technology, safety and design upgrades while still delivering maximum customer value for the £15,365 OTR price.

Starting on the outside, the Note n-tec is an attractive compact family car thanks to an enhanced styling package including new 16-inch alloy wheels, satin silver door handles and wing mirror covers plus the choice of eight paint colours – including a new metallic Ink Blue finish exclusive to n-tec.

Upgraded styling extends to the black bezel headlamps, aerodynamic front bumper, carbon-look rear bumper, unique blue stitch on the leather steering wheel and rear privacy glass. The Note n-tec is available with a six-speed manual 1.2-litre 80PS petrol engine that emits 109g/km with a combined fuel consumption figure of 60.1mpg.

Moving inside, Nissan has enhanced the Note’s value proposition further by including New NissanConnect – featuring 5.8” touchscreen satellite navigation – DAB radio and a Rear View Camera. Previously only available on Tekna and now standard on n-tec is Nissan’s award-winning Safety Shield suite of technologies including Blind Spot Warning, Moving Object Detection and Lane Departure Warning.

The Note range enhancements extend to the mid-grade Acenta Premium too, where it benefits from the addition of the New NissanConnect system with DAB radio and Bluetooth handsfree with audio streaming.

Prices for Note Acenta Premium trim start from £14,465 OTR with a choice of one diesel engine and three petrol engines. The new Note n-tec and updated Acenta Premium trims are available from all participating Nissan franchised dealers nationwide.

More silverware for Qashqai as Recombu.com names best-selling Nissan crossover as its 2014 Family Car of the Year

The new Nissan Qashqai has added to its impressive haul of industry awards accolades with another title. Online tech review site Recombu.com has named the Qashqai its Best Family Car 2014 at its annual awards ceremony.

The Recombu.com judging panel highlighted the Qashqai’s exterior design, family-focused cabin and high levels of technology – qualities that helped the British-built crossover become one of the most in-demand cars of 2014.

Rory Reid, Editor in Chief of Recombu.com said: “The original Nissan Qashqai almost single-handedly defined the crossover market, and although wannabes have tried to cash in on its success, it continues to rule head and shoulders above its rivals.”

Recombu.com’s award is the latest in a long line of titles won by the Qashqai since its launch in January. Among the silverware already collected is the 2014 What Car? Car of the Year award, 2014 Auto ExpressCrossover of the Year and eBay Motors Car of the Year 2014. The Qashqai’s advanced Safety Shield technology also scooped the prestigious Auto Express Safety Award earlier this year. 

Commenting on the Qashqai’s latest award, Rachael Gregory from Nissan Motor GB added: “We’re delighted to accept this Recombu.com award for the Qashqai. Launched in January, the new Qashqai is available from £18,265 and is offered with five trim grade options. Engine outputs range from 110PS in the 1.5dCi to 163PS in the new 1.6-litre DIG-T petrol engines, while technology features include Nissan Safety Shield Technologies, Around View Monitor, New NissanConnect infotainment system and Intelligent Park Assist*.

Nissan Pulsar awarded full five stars in latest round of EuroNCAP tests.

• Follows five-star rating awards for new X-Trail and Qashqai

Nissan has strengthened its credentials as a brand you can trust to offer the highest levels of safety, following another five-star star rating by independent testing organisation EuroNCAP. The  Pulsar's rating makes a hat-trick of five star ratings for the brand, coming just weeks after the new X-Trail and new Qashqai were also awarded the  maximum five-star safety ratings.

In its crash test report, EuroNCAP highlighted the Pulsar's impressive strength, rating leg and femur protection as good and adding that even in EuroNCAP's most severe pole tests, dummies were found to be well protected against injury. The report also awarded maximum points for Child Occupant protection (1 ½ year old dummy) and praised the Pulsar's pedestrian impact protection levels.  

Safety built into the core of every Pulsar

EuroNCAP's findings confirm Nissan's own analysis of the Pulsar's safety credentials, and serve to highlight the car's exceptional levels of protection for driver and passengers. Safety has long been a cornerstone of Nissan's design and engineering philosophy, and brand's commitment to advancing both passive and active safety systems continues to mark it apart from the competition.

The Pulsar showcases sector-first safety technologies, including Moving Object Detection.  This advanced system builds on the capabilities of the acclaimed Around View Monitor, and gives the driver a ‘digital co-pilot' to help them look at what might be approaching the path of their reversing Pulsar. Other safety systems available to Pulsar buyers include Forward Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Warning and highly-efficient LED headlamps.

Pulsar - introducing quality and Nissan innovation to the C-segment

Officially unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in October and now on sale across Europe, the Pulsar combines practicality, technology and quality in a package that redefines sector standards for value. Created with the same DNA as Nissan's celebrated and best-selling crossover models, the all-new Pulsar has been designed to specifically to meet the demands of C-segment buyers, and features exceptional levels of practicality - including sector-best rear legroom.

Less than eight years after inventing the crossover segment, (HEAVEN FORBID THEY DONT MENTION THE FREELANDER, RAV4, VITARA AND DOZENS OF OTHERS) the Nissan Qashqai has once again made automotive history after production passed two million units in record time.

With Nissan’s unrivalled package of quality, styling and technology, the Qashqai has reached its latest manufacturing milestone quicker than any other model in the history of the UK car industry.

Designed, engineered and built in Nissan’s UK facilities for European customers, this latest landmark caps a remarkable 2014 for the Qashqai, with January’s launch of the new generation model sparking a string of accolades including What Car? magazine’s coveted Car of the Year.

The two millionth Qashqai to roll off the production line was a magnetic red model in the new n-tec grade which is destined for a UK customer. Introduced last month, the new grade includes unique new styling features as well as Nissan Safety Shield technologies like Forward Emergency Braking, Traffic Sign Recognition, Lane Departure Warning and High Beam Assist.

Nissan has invested £534 million in the design, development and production of Qashqai in the UK, supporting more than 11,000 jobs in the UK car industry. Of the two million Qashqais made in Sunderland since December 2006, 85% (1,706,633) have been exported to 132 international markets, from the Congo to Qatar.

UK Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills, the Rt Hon Dr Vince Cable MP, said: “Nissan is one of the driving forces behind the UK’s world-renowned automotive industry. They currently employ more than 11,000 people across the UK and have invested more than £500m in the innovation, design and production of this car, directly supporting the local and national economies. The UK automotive industry is thriving. Last year, we increased our production to more than 1.5 million cars in the UK – that’s a car rolling off the production line every 20 seconds.

Qashqai is made alongside the all-electric LEAF on Line 1 at Nissan Sunderland Plant, which has been on round-the-clock, three-shift production since 2010 in order to meet customer demand, with a car currently rolling off the production line every 62 seconds, or 58 per hour.

As well as What Car? magazine’s Car of the Year, awards for Qashqai in 2014 include Tow Car’s 'Car of the Year', ebay customers' 'New Car of the Year' and the Prize for Quality from prestigious Spanish business magazine Ejecutivos.

Fundamental to the Qashqai’s development were Nissan's European Design Centre in Paddington and European Technical Centre in Cranfield, Bedfordshire. The popularity of Qashqai has also helped Nissan to reach record market share in the UK, with sales and marketing operations based in Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire. More than 11,500 people are employed in total at these sites and in UK dealerships, supporting a further 26,000 jobs in the UK supply chain.

Total global production of the Qashqai now tops 2.5 million, with the first generation Qashqai also made by Nissan in China and Japan. From 2015 the new Qashqai will also be manufactured in Nissan’s plant in St. Petersburg for domestic sales in Russia.

The Qashqai is now closing in on the Micra as the highest volume car in the history of Nissan Sunderland Plant, with 2,368,704 Micras made in Sunderland over an 18-year period from 1992 to 2010.

Nissan has updated its multi-award winning Qashqai range with the launch of a brand new n-tec trim plus a new Xtronic DIG-T 115 model. The new n-tec grade replaces Acenta Premium in the Qashqai line-up and is positioned between the existing Acenta and Tekna grades.

It now makes Nissan’s advanced driver and safety technology even more accessible and further enhances the vehicle’s overall value proposition with starting prices for the grade identical to Acenta Premium at £21,700.

Outside, the new n-tec grade features unique 18-inch alloy wheels with a stylish and distinctive black diamond-cut finish. Customers wanting to add even more features can choose an optional n-tec+ trim that include a full-length Panoramic glassroof and roofrails for an additional £550.

Taking centre stage is the acclaimed Around View Monitor (AVM) – Nissan’s driving and parking aid that provides driver with a ‘helicopter view’ of the area immediately surrounding the car.

AVM is fully integrated into the Qashqai’s latest NissanConnect entertainment system – a collection of technologies that includes smartphone connectivity and advanced satellite navigation system featuring Google Send to Car route planning.

Other comfort features included as standard on the Qashqai n-tec include Nissan’s Intelligent Keywith push-button start, front and rear parking sensors, automatic folding mirrors and an auto dimming rear view mirror.

Customers choosing the n-tec model also benefit from a comprehensive safety package. Nissan’s collection of Safety Shield technologies is fitted as standard – bringing peace of mind and segment-first technologies to an even wider audience. These include Forward Emergency braking, Traffic Sign Recognition, Lane Departure Warning and High Beam Assist.

To complete the Qashqai range enhancements, Nissan has added a new model in the form of a DIG-T 115 Xtronic featuring a six-speed automatic transmission option for the first time from Acenta upwards. The new model emits just 129g/km and returns 50.4mpg on the combined cycle and costs an additional £1,350 over the equivalent manual variants.
