Volkswagen is enhancing the appeal of more of its core models with the debut this month of a number of eye-catching special editions.

Available to order now the new cars share the attractive qualities of enhanced styling, a richer mix of equipment and keen value for money as the brand underlines the allure of some of its most charismatic creations.

Kicking off the latest range upgrades is the new Look up! – open for order now and based on the already popular Move up!.  The 1.0-litre 60 PS three-door Look up! is offered with sporty 15-inch Fortaleza alloy wheels, unique interior trim, black wing mirror casings and black foil decals.

Available in a range of prominent colours – Saturn Yellow, Tornado Red or Pure White – the new model adds almost £1,000-worth of extra equipment and styling features for its £9,995 price (RRP OTR), an increase of just £70 over the price of the standard Move up! model.

Svelte Volkswagen CC Black Editions boost value 

Two new Volkswagen CC Black Edition model trims, both with extra style and value, are also making their UK Retailer debuts this month.

The Volkswagen CC GT Black Edition and CC R-Line Black Edition both feature generous extra specification and styling enhancements to build on the already comfortable and stylish CC GT and CC R-Line.

The new Black Edition versions add a styling pack with black front grille, electric tilting sunroof, and 18-inch Lakeville alloy wheels on the GT Black Edition and 18-inch Talladega alloy wheels on the R-line Black Edition.

Interior specification includes new Carbon Nappa leather upholstery with carbon fibre-style decorative inserts on front and side doors, plus black piano inserts in the centre console.  The new special edition models are priced from £29,150 (RRP OTR) – just £575 more than the current GT and R-Line models.

Striking Scirocco GTS special edition earns its stripes

The stunning new Scirocco GTS has a cool 220 PS as standard, and is available in both manual and DSG transmissions.

Powered by a petrol engine unique to GTS it boasts maximum torque of 350 Nm at just 1,500 rpm; top speeds, where legal, of 153 mph (manual) and 152 mph (DSG); and, for both the manual and DSG variants, an acceleration time from 0 to 62mph of only 6.5 seconds.

The GTS shares the Scirocco R-Line’s impressive exterior styling kit, adding GTS-specific badging on the front grille and rear tailgate, plus black gloss door mirror casings and 65% tinted rear glass.  

The car is available in a selection of eye-catching exterior colours: Urano Grey is offered as standard, while optional colours are Flash Red, Pure White, Oryx White, Indium Grey and Deep Black.  Each paint colour has specific colour-coordinated GTS decal stripes to bonnet, roof and tailgate.

The interior builds on the R-Line trim with Vienna leather upholstery including GTS logo on front sports seats, and red stitch detail.

Additional styling features inside include piano black dashboard decorative inserts, a specific GTS gearstick with golf ball effect gear knob, seatbelts with two red GTS stripes and chrome side door sill protectors that, again, include the sporty GTS logo.

The Scirocco GTS is priced at £28,195 (RRP OTR) for the 2.0 TSI 220 PS with six-speed manual gearbox, or £29,695 (RRP OTR) for the six-speed DSG version.

Volkswagen launches two new special edition UP! models, the Start up! and Club up!

Volkswagen Retailers in the UK will begin taking orders for the Street up! and Club up! today, ahead of first deliveries in March, with prices starting from £11,995 (RRP OTR).

Both models are based on the flagship High up! trim which includes front fog lights, heated front seats and a Maps & More portable infotainment device, however, the Street and Club up! are loaded with more styling features for only an extra £610.

The stylish Street up! adds 16-inch Upsilon alloy wheels, standard Pure White, Black Pearl or Reflex Silver paint, 65 per cent tinted glass from the B-pillar back, “Street” badging, decals on side, bonnet, boot and roof, wing mirrors in silver (except for the Reflex Silver models on which they are black), body coloured bumpers with chrome moulding on the front fog lights, leather steering wheel with up! logo, up! scuff plates with yellow stripe, black roof lining, carpet mats and unique “Street” cloth upholstery.

The sophisticated Club up! adds 16-inch Triangle alloy wheels, standard Blueberry metallic (unique to the Club up!) or Black Pearl paint, 65 per cent tinted glass from the B-pillar back, “Club” badging, decals on side panels in silver, wing mirrors in silver, up! scuff plates, black roof lining, carpet mats and unique “Club” Tartan Tonic cloth upholstery.

Both new cars are powered by the up!’s most powerful 1.0-litre petrol engine.  Delivering 75 PS at 6,200 rpm, the three-cylinder engine is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox.  It returns 60.1 mpg on the combined cycle and emits 108 g/km of CO₂.  The up! produces a maximum torque of 95 Nm (70 lbs ft) between 3,000 and 4,300 rpm.

ŠKODA UK’s special edition Citigo Monte Carlo is now available on the Motability scheme for the first time. Originally introduced on the Fabia to celebrate 100 years of the Monte Carlo rally, the Monte Carlo name has become a firm favourite in the ŠKODA range.

The Citigo Monte Carlo, based on the SE model, has been given a trendy new look thanks to a black trim that includes 15-inch alloy wheels, door mirror covers, front and rear spoilers and grille. These details are complimented by lowered suspension for a more stylish stance on the road. Inside, the Citigo Monte Carlo gains polished metal kick plates and a leather sports steering wheel, handbrake lever and gear lever gaiter. Customers gain Bluetooth connectivity, satellite navigation and trip computer plus floor mats with red stitching and a gloss black dashboard pad with MC logo.

The Citigo Monte Carlo is available in three- and five-door forms and is available on the Motability scheme with nil advanced payment.

ŠKODA announces new Citigo Monte Carlo edition.

ŠKODA has unveiled full spec details and prices for the eagerly anticipated Citigo Monte Carlo.

Available in both three-and five-door body styles, the new trim level is based on the mid-range SE grade and offers many additional comfort, convenience and style features.

The most obvious of these are the black external design elements which are common to all ŠKODA Monte Carlo models. These include the alloy wheels, front and rear spoiler, rear diffuser, grille and door mirrors. The car also comes with lowered suspension for a more dynamic stance on the road.

New features in the spacious cabin include a sports steering wheel and Monte Carlo red/black upholstery. ŠKODA’s innovative PID (Portable Infotainment Device) is also standard, offering satellite navigation, trip and vehicle information, Bluetooth connectivity and a media player.

The ŠKODA Citigo Monte Carlo is available with a single engine option, the popular three-cylinder 1.0-litre 60PS mated to a five-speed manual transmission. Environmental performance is outstanding, with 62.8mpg fuel economy on the Combined Cycle and CO₂ emissions of only 105g/km.

The three-door model costs £10,590 while the five-door version is priced £10,940.

Evergreen Polo get nip and tuck and now looks like a Golf, how original !

The Volkswagen Polo is to be updated with a range of new technologies and efficient engines, along with a makeover inside and out.  The latest iteration of Volkswagen’s best-selling supermini which will feature these changes is due for launch this summer.

Chief among the changes for the Polo – over 14 million of which have been sold worldwide since its introduction in 1975 – is a range of advanced technology features that will be familiar to drivers of the latest Golf, as Volkswagen continues to democratise technology that advances safety, practicality, comfort and efficiency.

All new Polos will be equipped as standard with an Automatic Post-Collision Braking System which automatically brakes the vehicle after a collision to reduce kinetic energy significantly and thus minimise the chance or consequences of a second impact.  Options include a Driver Alert System and Front Assist with City Emergency Braking and Automatic Cruise Control.

A new optional Sport Select suspension system will be offered, using electronically controlled dampers to switch between two suspension settings.  Meanwhile a new electro-mechanical steering system improves efficiency and offers more precise control.

Volkswagen’s modular infotainment system, familiar to Golf drivers, is being introduced across the Polo range.  This touchscreen system includes a proximity sensor and a function that reacts to wiping movements by the fingers (as used on smartphones).

Under the bonnet, the revised Polo will feature a range of new EU6-compliant engines offering fuel efficiency improvements of up to 21 per cent over the old units.

New three- and four-cylinder petrol engines lead the changes.  There are two 1.0-litre MPI units, with 60 or 75 PS and two 1.2-litre four-cylinder TSI engines with 90 or 110 PS.  As before, a 1.4-litre TSI engine with cylinder deactivation (ACT) will be available, this time with power increased by 10 PS to 150 PS.  A range-topping Polo GTI with increased power will be available next year.

In the UK, the diesel-powered Polo BlueMotion is to be replaced with a new petrol-powered Polo BlueMotion TSI, which returns 68.9 mpg* on the combined cycle and emits just 94 g/km* of CO2.  It uses a new turbocharged three-cylinder 1.0-litre engine that produces 90 PS.

Diesel power is provided for by two new three-cylinder 1.4-litre TDI engines (previously these were 1.2 and 1.6 litres), with 75 and 90 PS.

Exterior changes are subtle but effective, and include more precise lines on the redesigned front bumper and grille, with a chrome line that separates the front fog lights.  Optional LED headlights are a first in this class, and have a distinctive light signature.  At the rear there are new lights and a new bumper, while five new alloy wheel designs complete the look.

Inside, the driver faces wholly redesigned instruments and a new steering wheel, while a refreshed centre console with new heating and ventilation controls ensures ease of use.

Full details will be available when the new Polo opens for ordering in the UK in April.  First deliveries are expected in late July.
