mazda has revised the mazda2 range of cars to now become the best that it has been in it's history.

  • Starting from £12,695 the revised eight-model Mazda2 range goes on sale from 1st June 2017.
  • Updates include introduction of Mazda’s G-Vectoring technology and improved refinement.
  • Range-topping 90ps GT and 115ps GT Sport feature extra equipment and unique colour choices.
Mazda has announced a host of updates and changes to its highly acclaimed Mazda2 range. Highlights across all models include the introduction of Mazda’s G-Vectoring Control technology and detailed improvements to the suspension and steering to deliver improved ride comfort and steering response. In addition, interior upgrades include new seat fabrics, a new steering wheel and enhanced sound insulation.
Thanks to its KODO: Soul of Motion design and SKYACTIV technology, the current Mazda2 set new standards for a Mazda supermini. Launched in 2015, its combination of sharp handling, attractive styling and efficient engines helped it stand out in the ultra-competitive small car sector.
Now subtle enhancements and the launch of two new models - GT and GT Sport - are designed to keep the Mazda2 at the forefront of this ever popular segment.
Now exclusively offered with Mazda’s 1.5-litre SKYACTIV-G petrol engine, the simplified eight-model Mazda2 range starts at just £12,695 for the 75ps SE, while the 75ps engine is also offered in SE-L trim. Making up the bulk of the range the 90ps version of the 1.5-litre SKYACTIV-G engine is offered in SE-L Nav, Sport Nav and GT trim, while the 115ps output engine is exclusively matched to the flagship GT Sport and a six-speed manual gearbox.
All models feature new seat fabrics, a new steering wheel and revised door mirrors with wraparound indicators. Enhanced refinement across the range is achieved thanks to the adoption of noise-insulating glass in the windscreen and additional under bonnet sound proofing. Plus, to reduce high-frequency noise entering the cabin from the rear, sound absorbing material has been added to the inside of the tailgate, the parcel shelf and the spare wheel well.
This improvement in refinement is matched to subtle enhancements to the Mazda2’s already driver-focused dynamics. Front and rear damper settings have been revised to enhance ride quality, while to improve body control the front anti-roll bar bushing has changed and the structure of the front lower suspension arm has been modified. Additionally, a small recalibration of the electric power steering has resulted in improved steering feel.
The upgraded Mazda2’s dynamic enhancements also see the introduction of G-Vectoring Control (GVC). Having made its debut on the 2017 Mazda3, GVC is now standard across the Mazda2 range, the first of Mazda’s SKYACTIV-VEHICLE DYNAMCIS technologies it varies engine torque to optimise loading on the wheels when cornering to indiscernibly provide more precise handling and improve comfort.
Across the key trim levels the upgraded Mazda2 now features additional equipment: SE-L and SE-L Nav cars now feature LED front fog lamps, auto power-folding mirrors and passenger seat height adjustment, while Sport Nav models benefit from subtle visual enhancements including new 16-inch alloy wheels and a shark fin antenna.
However, thanks to new Deep Crimson Mica and Eternal Blue Mica paint colours that are both exclusive to the GT and GT Sport, it’s these models that really stand out. LED headlights, LED daylight running lights, a contrasting black rear spoiler and 16-inch silver alloy wheels further distinguish these new flagship models, while inside both the GT and GT Sport feature black leather seats with a brown dash insert, a colour head-up display, Mazda2 scuff plates and on the 115ps GT Sport, a reversing camera.
As before, the Mazda2 features excellent active safety equipment with all 90ps and 115ps powered cars featuring Smart City Brake Support and Lane Departure Warning System. All cars outside of the entry-level 75ps engine models come with Mazda’s 7” Colour touch-screen display with MZD-Connect infotainment system, integrated navigation, DAB radio and cruise control, while Sport Nav and GT-Line models feature high-end equipment like privacy glass, rear parking sensors, climate control air-conditioning and smart keyless entry.
Commenting on the revisions to the Mazda2 Jeremy Thomson, Managing Director Mazda Motors UK said, “with annual UK sales of over 10,000 cars, the Mazda2 is a really important car in our line up. It may be the smallest car we produce, but it has at its heart the same values of style, driving involvement and quality that mark out all our products. These updates come just two years after the current Mazda2’s launch but they are designed to ensure the Mazda2 remains a class-leading contender in what remains the biggest selling segment in the UK car market.”
Adding, “our simplified eight-model line-up has been created based on feedback from our customers and dealers, and with the new GT and GT Sport models we have two standout models that deliver the high-end equipment, premium looks and high-quality discerning small car buyers are looking for.”

IRELAND - Mazda launches the 2017 Mazda3 hatchback and saloon, a leap forward in quality and technology.

  • The 2017 Mazda3 receives styling enhancements, new technology and an upgraded interior.
  • Features premiere of G-Vectoring Control, the first SKYACTIV-VEHICLE DYNAMICS system.
  • Powertrain line-up enhanced with the introduction of the efficient 2.0-litre SYACTIV-G 120ps.
  • The 2017 Mazda3 range, available in 4 Powertrains, is priced from €23,295.
With global production having passed five million cars at the end of April 2016, the highly acclaimed Mazda3 is updated with the launch of the 2017 Mazda3.
Highlights across the full Hatchback and Saloon range include subtle exterior changes and an updated cabin. And, with the introduction of G-Vectoring Control, the debut of Mazda’s SKYACTIV-VEHICLE DYNAMICS technology in the Mazda3 range.

Like with all new-generation Mazda’s, the carmaker developed the latest version of the 2017 Mazda3 based on a human-centred development philosophy, paying close attention to human traits and perceptions to deliver a satisfying sensation to drivers and passengers alike. The sporty compact also received an extra portion of Jinba Ittai, Mazda’s rider-and-horse-as-one approach that originated as the guiding principle behind the iconic Mazda MX-5 roadster.
Inside, the 2017 Mazda3 adds usability and practicality with, for example, an enhanced Active Driving Display featuring a high quality full-colour display. It eases communicating information to drivers without any need for them to take their eyes off the road. Among other things, Mazda has also improved steering wheel ergonomics. Outside, the award-winning hatchback and saloon received a redesign featuring a revised grille adding to a solid, low stance with a strong, composed physique.
The 2017 Mazda3 marks the world debut of G-Vectoring Control (GVC). It is the first system in the new SKYACTIV-VEHICLE DYNAMICS range of technology providing integrated control of the engine, transmission, chassis and body to enhance the Jinba-Ittai factor. GVC varies engine torque to optimise the load on each wheel, providing more precise handling as well as a smoother ride under virtually any driving conditions. Diesel-powered versions of Mazda’s newest compact get high-precision boost control, which enhances accelerator responsiveness. It also comes with one new diesel knock reduction innovation (Natural Sound Frequency Control) to dampen the vibrations that cause knocking in three critical frequency ranges, while extending another related technology (Natural Sound Smoother) to all diesel models.
Advanced active and pre-crash safety equipment includes Advanced Smart City Brake Support (Advanced SCBS). Its forward-sensing camera replaces the current system’s laser, expanding the speed range for detecting other vehicles while adding pedestrian detection capabilities. The 2017 Mazda3 will also be offered with LED Headlights and an adaptive front lighting system that adjusts the angle of the headlights when cornering.
The 2017 Mazda3 range will start at €23,295 (RRP) and the powertrain line-up will continue to feature two clean diesels, the SKYACTIV-D 1.5 (105 PS) and SKYACTIV-D 2.2 (150 PS). There are now two naturally aspirated SKYACTIV-G petrol engines – the SKYACTIV-G 1.5 (100 PS) and the new efficient SKYACTIV-G 2.0 (120 PS) completing the Mazda3 powertrain choice. They are mated to a crisp shifting six-speed SKYACTIV-MT manual or SKYACTIV-Drive automatic transmission.
The 2017 Mazda3 is now available in official Mazda retailers and ready for order for the 171 plate change.

USA - The 2017 Mazda3 Goes on Sale This Month with a MSRP1 starting at $17,845.

The 2017 Mazda3 Goes on Sale This Month with a MSRP1 starting at $17,845
The current-generation Mazda3 has scored dozens of accolades globally, including being named a Car and Driver 10 Best-winner every year since its introduction, landing as a top-three World Car of the Year finalist and being named both as an Automobile Magazine “All-Star” and an ALG Residual Value Award winner.
For the 2017 model year, Mazda3 returns refined and repackaged with more standard content, including G-Vectoring Control, a Mazda-exclusive technology that uses the engine to refine steering and handling to match the driver’s inputs, and enhanced sound insulation to complement Mazda3’s redesigned, upscale interior.
Mazda3’s trim levels have also been simplified, and those seeking the engagement of driving a car equipped with a manual transmission will be happy to discover that the top-level, stick-shift Mazda3 Grand Touring will now be available with the Premium Package and i-ACTIVSENSE suite of advanced safety technologies. Both were previously reserved for Mazda3 models equipped with the available automatic transmission.
“We are more than happy to give our customers what they want with greater availability of the manual transmission,” said Robert Davis, senior VP, U.S. Operations, MNAO. “Mazda3 has a nearly 15-percent take rate for its manual transmission, with most of those buyers opting for higher trim levels. Where so many competitors have retreated in the segment, we see an opening to engage those who enjoy the driving experience without compromise.”
As with last year, Mazda3 comes in Sport, Touring and Grand Touring trim levels. But instead of models being designated as “i” (2.0-liter engine) or “s” (2.5-liter engine), Mazda has simplified the lineup with Sport and Touring models being equipped with the smaller engine and Touring 2.5 and Grand Touring models being equipped with the larger offering.
Entry Mazda3 Sport models come equipped with a 155-horsepower SKYACTIV-G 2.0-liter engine, paired with either a SKYACTIV-MT six-speed manual transmission or a SKYACTIV-DRIVE six-speed automatic that is newly standard with a selectable Sport Mode toggle switch that recalibrates the transmission for more spirited driving. Additionally, Sport models come equipped with a new electronic parking brake, power mirrors, variable-intermittent wipers, power windows with a one-touch driver’s window, power door locks, remote keyless entry, push-button start, and a seven-inch MAZDA CONNECTTM display that integrates Bluetooth hands-free phone pairing and audio streaming as well as HD Radio, USB audio devices, Pandora, Aha and other functions. MAZDA CONNECTTM can be controlled via steering wheel-mounted buttons, voice commands, touchscreen or via Mazda’s Commander control knob.
Mazda3 Sport sedan models can be further upgraded with the Preferred Equipment Package, which includes 16-inch alloy wheels, heated side mirrors with integrated turn signal lamps, Advanced Blind Spot Monitoring, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, rain-sensing wipers, automatic on/off headlights, bright beltline trim, premium cloth-trimmed sport seats and satin trim throughout the interior, among other equipment. These features are not available on five-door Mazda3 Sport models except for the 16-inch alloy wheels, which are standard equipment.
Mazda3 Touring sedan and five-door models build upon the Sport with Preferred Equipment Package with a new-design 18-inch wheel package, Smart City Brake Support, dual-zone automatic climate control, Mazda Advanced Keyless Entry, six-way power driver’s seat with manual lumbar adjustment, heated leatherette front seats and a leather-wrapped shifter knob and steering wheel.
Mazda3 Touring sedan buyers can also opt for more features with the Popular Equipment Package that adds a rear decklid spoiler, shark-fin antenna, BOSE® nine-speaker Premium audio system, SiriusXM satellite radio with a four-month subscription, power moonroof, overhead sunglasses holder and illuminated vanity mirrors.
Where the five-door model diverges is with the Mazda3 Touring 2.5 model, which comes with the 184-horsepower, SKYACTIV-G 2.5 engine and builds on the Mazda3 Touring model to include a power moonroof, sunglasses holder and illuminated vanity mirrors as well. Five-door models add the BOSE® Premium audio system with SiriusXM in the Grand Touring trim level.
For both the sedan and five-door, all Mazda3 Grand Touring models come equipped with LED fog lights, an analog tachometer, Active Driving Display head-up display, almond or black perforated leather seats and black metallic trim on the grille and front fascia.
Additional features include the Premium Equipment Package that adds self-leveling, bi-LED headlights with Adaptive Front-lighting System; LED combination tail lights; LED daytime running lights; steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters on models equipped with the automatic transmission; navigation; and an auto-dimming mirror with Homelink.
Building upon the Premium Equipment Package, buyers can select the i-ACTIVSENSE safety suite that includes High-Beam Control, Lane-Departure Warning, new Lane Keep Assist, Mazda Radar Cruise Control, Smart Brake Support and the new Traffic Sign Recognition system. Lastly, the i-ELOOP regenerative braking system is now a standalone option that only comes with on models with an automatic transmission.

Mazda updates the Mazda3 for the 2017 Model Year, with minor exterior and upgraded interiors with more tech and safety.

  • The 2017 Mazda3 benefits from styling enhancements, new technology and a revised cabin.
  • With four specification levels, the 2017 Mazda3 is priced from £17,595 to £24,195 on-the-road.
  • Features G-Vectoring Control, the first application of SKYACTIV-VEHICLE DYNAMICS technology.
With global production having passed five million cars at the end of April 2016, the highly acclaimed Mazda3 has been updated with the launch of the 2017 Mazda3. Highlights across the full hatchback and Fastback range include, subtle exterior changes and an updated cabin. Plus, with the introduction of G-Vectoring Control, the debut of Mazda’s SKYACTIV-VEHICLE DYNAMICS technology.

Thanks to its KODO: Soul of Motion design and SKYACTIV technology, the current generation of Mazda’s global sales leader set new standards when it went on sale in the UK in 2014. Its bold styling, premium quality and advanced technology saw it win praise for its sharp handling, upmarket cabin, alluring looks and efficient engines.
Maintaining an award-winning range of SKYACTIV petrol and diesel engines, the 2017 Mazda3’s broad spread of enhancements are designed to keep it at the forefront of this competitive class.
Externally, the 2017 Mazda3 is marked out by a revised grille with a stronger three-dimensional look and a new front fog light bezel. Across both body styles, revised door mirrors feature wraparound turn indicators, while hatchback versions have a redesigned rear bumper.
The 2017 Mazda3 is available in eight colours including Mazda’s new Machine Grey Mica, which having starred on the all-new Mazda MX-5 RF at the 2016 New York Motor Show, makes its production debut on the Mazda3.
The second all-new colour to make its debut is Eternal Blue Mica, while Sonic Silver Metallic is offered for the first time on the Mazda3. SE and SE-L Nav trim cars feature 16-inch alloy wheels, while Sport Nav models benefit from a new design of high-sheen finish 18-inch alloy wheels.
Inside, the 2017 Mazda3’s cabin evolves the driver-oriented interior space with a host of updates that include higher-quality switch panels and handle bezels on the doors, plus a newly designed trim insert on the dashboard.
The adoption of an electric parking brake creates space for a more practical centre console, while another highlight is a new leather steering wheel design that enhances feel and style, and if combined with leather seats is heated.
On sale from the 1st October, the 2017 Mazda3 is offered with a choice of 105ps 1.5-litre or 150ps 2.2-litre SKYACTIV-D diesel engines, alongside a petrol line-up that includes 120ps and 165ps versions of the 2.0-litre SKYACTIV-G.
Having added the smooth, frugal and sub 100g/km 1.5-litre SKYACTIV-D diesel engine to the Mazda3 last year, both this and the well-established 2.2-litre SKYACTIV-D engine now feature Transient Control, which ensures a more positive throttle response by reducing turbo lag and boosting torque to deliver a petrol-like engine feel.
Refinement has also been enhanced thanks to the introduction of Mazda’s Natural Sound Smoother (NSS) technology, which reduces knock noise during starting and low-speed acceleration on diesel engines.
Across the whole range, overall refinement has been substantially improved with added noise suppression material in the roof, doors, dashboard and transmission tunnel area.
Optimised door seals and additional vibration damping materials between the rear crossmembers further improve cabin comfort. In addition, revisions to theMacPherson strut front and multi-link rear suspension have focused on delivering improved ride comfort and reducing vibration, while at the same time enhancing the pin-sharp handling the Mazda3 is famed for.
The 2017 Mazda3 also features G-Vectoring Control (GVC), the first of Mazda’s SKYACTIV-VEHICLE DYNAMICS technologies. It varies engine torque to optimize wheel load to indiscernibly provide more precise handling and improved comfort.
Other technology highlights include the adaption of a full-colour display on the enhanced head–up display system, while for the first time the Mazda3 is offered with Adaptive LED headlights.^ On sale in the UK from the 1st October, the 2017 Mazda3 is priced from £17,595 to £24,195.
