I will try my best to provide detailed info on various cars and what is like to live with them, I have already produced a few for Jaguar-car-forums, I will do my best to be unbiased, but it will be hard for some cars. I will re-produce press releases and copy from other motoring news.

Honda announces that two new VTEC engines will join the range in the best selling, Euro new 10th Generation Civic.

  • Two further VTEC TURBO engines to be launched in Europe
  • First application of new engines scheduled for 10th generation 2017 Civic
Honda has announced that two all new downsized turbo petrol engines will be coming to Europe. 1-litre and 1.5-litre VTEC TURBO engines will form part of the powertrain line-up for the 10th generation Civic, set for launch in Europe from early 2017.

The all-new engines will be part of Honda’s growing Earth Dreams Technology range and will deliver a combination of dynamic performance, class-leading output and excellent fuel economy. The first new VTEC TURBO engine, a 2-litre, was launched this year in the current Civic Type R, capable of 310ps and a 0-62 mph time of 5.7 seconds.
Based on a completely new engine structure and utilising its newly developed turbo systems, the new engines feature variable valve motion technology to reduce friction and achieve class-leading output and environmental performance. The new engines use a turbocharger with a low moment of inertia and high responsiveness, and direct injection technology to achieve good balance between high output and torque, above those of conventional naturally-aspirated engines.
The all new Civic is scheduled to arrive in Europe in early 2017 after being announced at Frankfurt Motor Show in September. Five door variants will be exclusively produced at Honda’s UK manufacturing plant (HUM) in Swindon. Honda has confirmed investment of €270m in new production technologies and processes to prepare for the new model.
Philip Crossman, Managing Director at Honda UK, comments: “With the launch of these two new smaller turbo-charged engines, we are responding to the market demand and the rising trend for increased fuel efficiency without compromising on power.”

Honda to invest in new models and manufacturing to achieve 200,000 sales within Europe, per year.

  • Investment in new models and manufacturing capabilities signals Honda’s intention to work towards European sales of 200,000 units annually
  • Next generation Civic to be launched from early 2017, with five door variant to be built at Honda’s UK Manufacturing plant (HUM)
  • HUM to benefit from €270 million investment
Honda Motor Europe has announced it is targeting annual sales of 200,000 units across Europe at the company’s press conference at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show.  Philip Ross, Senior Vice President of Honda Motor Europe, highlighted the fully refreshed 2015 model line-up, news on further new models and a significant investment in its UK manufacturing base as the means for Honda to work towards the aggressive growth target.

Mr Ross outlined plans to build on the momentum created by a series of new model introductions in 2015. The launch of the all-new HR-V and Jazz, the exciting Civic Type R high-performance hatchback, and refreshed Civic and CR-V families have given Honda one of the youngest product ranges in the industry. Early response from customers and media alike has given a new momentum to the brand in Europe.
“We are confident that this range will satisfy and delight our existing customers, and bring in many more, as the breadth of our range and the quality of our product broadens the appeal of Honda to an ever wider audience,” said Ross.
The focus on Honda’s commitment to pushing boundaries will be magnified again next year, with the start of mass production of the all-new NSX, a hybrid supercar featuring cutting edge technological advancements that epitomise Honda’s daring spirit.
Ross also confirmed the 10th generation Civic is scheduled for a European launch from early 2017, with production of five door variants exclusively from Honda of the UK Manufacturing (HUM) in Swindon. In order to prepare for this new model and announced earlier this year, Honda has invested €270m in new production technologies and processes, bringing the total investment in the site to €3bn since 1985.
“2015 has been an important year for Honda, but it’s very much the start of things to come,” concluded Ross.

Pricing and specs for new Civic and Tourer announced, comes with a price reduction too.

  • New British-built Civic comes with price reduction of up to £1,620
  • Current Civic continues with sale price offering up to £3,000 off
  • Competitive pricing for new Civic demonstrates customer is priority
Honda (UK) has today announced launch pricing for the new Swindon-built Civic, which is set to hit dealer forecourts in March. With up to £1,620 off the face-lifted model compared to equivalent spec levels for the existing Civic, Honda is aggressively positioning its family hatchback and estate cars in the market place for 2015.

Prices will start from a competitive £16, 815 OTR for the entry level 1.4 i-VTEC manual S grade model which will include the all-new Honda Connect infotainment system. Prices will top out at £26,970 for the 1.8 i-VTEC Ex Plus Tourer.

With PCP an increasingly popular option for Honda customers, as a representative example of the range, the 1.8 i-VTEC Sport costs just £209 over a three year period with 5.9% APR.
Formally launched at the Paris Motor Show last September, both the Civic and the Civic Tourer will benefit from a new front exterior design, providing a new sporty outlook for the model.

In-keeping with these premium enhancements on the outside, the 2015 models also receive a specification upgrade inside.

The decision to reduce the price was taken to ensure the new Civic is significantly competitive in its sector.

As part of the Honda sale the current model is also available with a £1,500 discount and £1,500 deposit contribution, representing an attractive £3,000 saving.

Leon Brannan, Head of Cars at Honda UK, commented:  “The decision to reduce the price of the 2015 Civic and Civic Tourer range is aimed directly at benefitting the customers’ wallet. Making the 2015 Honda Civic more accessible confirms our ongoing commitment to our customers to offer excellent value, with excellent service.

“Honda has long been identified as a reliable manufacturer with the best dealer and customer service levels in the automotive industry.  But it is now, when we have new product in the refreshed Civic and the Civic Tourer, along with competitive pricing, that we can bring the Honda brand back to the forefront of for the UK car buyer.”
