Volkswagen celebrates selling over four million units in forst eight months of 2014.

The Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand delivered 4.03 (January-August 2013: 3.90) million vehicles in the first eight months of this year; this represent an increase of 3.4 per cent. Volkswagen Passenger Cars handed over 471,000 (August 2013: 470,500; +0.1 per cent) vehicles to customers in August. “We are still feeling the effects of the very challenging situation on world markets. However, we also continue to benefit from the tailwind in China and Western Europe,” Christian Klingler, Board Member for Sales and Marketing for the Volkswagen Group and the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand, said in Wolfsburg on Tuesday.
Volkswagen Passenger Cars delivered 1.11 (1.08; +2.9 per cent) million vehicles on the overall European market from January to August this year, of which 561,500 (535,400; +4.9 per cent) units were handed over to customers in Western Europe (excluding Germany). There was also a rise in deliveries in the home market of Germany, where 382,100 (364,300; +4.9 per cent) customers took delivery of a new Volkswagen. The brand handed over 163,300 (176,100; -7.3 per cent) vehicles to customers in Central and Eastern Europe in the period to August. 85,000 (103,600; -18.0 per cent) units were delivered in Russia.

Volkswagen Passenger Cars delivered 387,600 (420,700; -7.9 per cent) units in the North America region in the period to August, of which 244,900 (282,900; -13.4 per cent) were handed over to customers in the United States. Deliveries in the South America region from January to August declined to 427,400 (539,400; -20.8 per cent) units, of which 347,000 (411,300; -15.6 per cent) were handed over to customers in Brazil.
Deliveries continued to grow in the Asia-Pacific region, where 1.97 (1.70; +15.4 per cent) million vehicles were handed over to customers in the period to August. Volkswagen delivered 1.83 (1.56; +17.1 per cent) million units in China (incl. Hong Kong) during the same period.
