- Over £500 raised at MG factory Macmillan Coffee Morning last week
- Visitors to factory donate to charity when visiting for weekly site tours
- MG are supporting Macmillan Cancer Support and Acorns Children’s hospice in 2014
MG is delighted to announce that following a highly successful Macmillan Coffee Morning held at the factory, visitors to the iconic Longbridge site have now helped to raise over £2,500 for Macmillan Cancer Support in 2014.
Every week MG opens the doors to its Birmingham site and allows members of the public to visit the home of the MG brand and the SMTC UK centre for design, engineering and assembly. There is also an on-site dealership displaying the full range of current models and a small museum featuring some iconic models from both MG and previous brands built at the Longbridge site. The tour is free, however visitors are asked to make a donation, the proceeds of which are then split between MGs chosen charities. For 2014 MG is supporting Macmillan Cancer Support and Acorns Children’s Hospice in Birmingham.
Visitors include various MG car clubs from around the country, student groups from the UK and abroad, private clubs and owners of current and historic MG products. The tour has become a ‘must’ for all MG enthusiasts, with hundreds attending every year. Tours last for approximately two hours and spaces can be booked online atwww.mg.co.uk/factory-tours.
MG Motor UK HR Manager, Louise Carter handed over the latest donation to Emily Morgan, Fundraising Manager at Macmillan Cancer Support, following the factory’s Coffee Morning event where over 100 people attended, raising over £500 on the day. Louise said: “We are delighted that visitors to the site enjoy their tours and want to make a donation to charity as part of the process, enabling us to help such a great cause as Macmillan Cancer Support.”
MG has many reasons to celebrate this year, the iconic marque’s 90th anniversary year, as the Midlands based manufacturer is also currently topping the list for growth within the automotive industry, and has been named the fastest growing automotive brand in the UK by SMMT every month so far in 2014. MG’s parent company, SAIC Motor, recently entered the Global Fortune top 100 with the company’s tenth appearance in the annual Fortune 500 list, moving up 18 places from last year’s result to reach 85th position, with 2013 yearly sales revenues of $92 billion, and MG’s rapidly expanding dealer network now exceeds 50 dealers, with just under 50 per cent of UK households now within a 30 minute drive of an MG dealer.
Success has been due to the recent launch of the MG3 supermini and expansion of the MG6 diesel powertrain family, with a new 129g, 350 Nm performance diesel recently added. Voted by customers as the winner of Best Handling and sixth overall Best Car to Own in the 2014 Auto Express Driver Power Awards, the MG6 is already a favourite with MG owners for its drivability, affordability and exceptionally high levels of equipment included as standard. Now the MG6 is even more appealing as all specifications are available from just £15,455 to £19,995, and with the current ‘High 5’ offer, MG6 customers can buy and drive away with five years of complete peace of mind.
Launched in September 2013, the MG3 benefits from an ultra low 4E insurance group, strong residuals of up to 61 per cent, exceptional interior and boot space, class leading chassis and driving dynamics and high levels of equipment on all specifications as standard. There are also over one million personalisation options and exceptional value for money aftercare packages to choose from. The MG3 is priced from only £8,399 to £9,999, or from zero percent deposit PCP from only £99 a month or from zero deposits.
