- Land Rover honoured as Best Brand by Telegraph Cars
- Double celebrations as Discovery Sport voted Best SUV
- Praise for its outstanding dynamic performance
Land Rover has been voted Best Brand at the 2015 Telegraph Cars Awards, the first time the manufacturer has received the top honour from readers. There were double celebrations as the Discovery Sport was also named Best SUV, which Land Rover has now won for three years in succession.
Last year the Evoque was voted number one, while in 2013 it was the Discovery.
Steven Huntingford, Head of Cars at Telegraph Media Group, commented: “This is the third year in a row that Land Rover has won the award for Best SUV, each time with a different car. Such consistently high standards explain why Land Rover is our Best Brand.”
He added: “Above all, SUVs are bought as family cars, so the fact that the Discovery Sport has seven seats to its rivals’ five is a huge advantage. While it’s clearly a worthy choice, the Discovery Sport is anything but dull, with tidy handling, nicely weighted steering and a supple yet controlled ride.”
The annual Telegraph Cars Awards are voted for by readers from a shortlist created by the newspaper’s motoring experts and contributing journalists. The honours were presented at a ceremony today at Somerset House in central London.
Attending the event, Jeremy Hicks, Managing Director, Jaguar Land Rover UK, commented: “Receiving the Best Brand award for Land Rover is a highly-valued endorsement of just how far we have come during the past few years.
With a series of new model introductions, including Range Rover Evoque, Range Rover, Range Rover Sport and this year Discovery Sport, we have built a strong product line-up that appeals to both new and existing customers.
“Winning the Telegraph Cars’ Best SUV category three years in a row is enormously valued by everyone at Land Rover. It recognises the annual progress Land Rover makes in creating the most versatile and capable SUVs. Since its January launch in the UK, we have delivered more than 7,000 Discovery Sport models to fleet, business and retail customers.”
Approximately 75% of orders have been for HSE and HSE Lux trim levels, illustrating how Land Rover customers continue to demand the very best in style, comfort and equipment. The standard specification will be enhanced even further in the autumn, as 2016 models will benefit from the all-new Ingenium diesel engine.
The 2.0-litre four-cylinder unit is designed to deliver class-leading torque and power outputs, combined with excellent refinement, reduced CO2 emissions and lower fuel consumption. It will be available in two power outputs, 150PS and 180PS, with the TD4 150 offering 57.7mpg fuel economy. CO2 emissions of just 129g/km emissions will further boost the appeal of the Discovery Sport to corporate drivers.
Priced from £30,695 and with outstanding versatility, competitive running costs and a maximum five-star Euro NCAP rating, Discovery Sport is the perfect choice for families.
