Another Stunning month for the United Kingdom Motor Trade, and everything stayed as is, and I mean by that, that the manufacturers that were in positive sales, all stayed positive and likewise, those with negative figures stayed negative, which gives an overview of what is and is not selling in the UK, As per usual, Fords, evergreen Focus and Fiesta held onto #1 and #2 positions, with the Corsa at #3, and they carry over to year to date sales too.
Jaguar had a great month in October with sales significantly up on the same month last year, and in turn this mans a near 11% increment on the YTD sales, It's sister brand Land Rover however did not fair as well, down nearly 7% on the month, but still holding onto a positive figure for the YTD, Renault on the other hand is the best brand of the year with sales of about 19,000 up on the same time a year ago, thats the best unit increment there is, MG however takes the crown again for percentage increase at 556%.
A number of new cars are helping some manufacturers, with the new C4 Cactus for Citroen (the one we have just ordered), Twingo for Renault, the new MINI Hatch, which has at last taken a hold, after a few months of dropped sales, and there are some significant new launches coming up too, with Vauxhall having three big ones with the new Corsa, Astra and Viva, New C-Max, S-Max, Mondeo and Focus for Ford, XE for Jaguar, Discovery Sport for Land Rover and the double trouble from Jeep/FIAT, with the Renegade and 500 XL.
With only a couple of months of the year left to go, it looks like it is going to be a huge year for car sales, and all without the "scrappage" packages that other European countries are touting about to get sales moving, we, here, in good old Blighty dont need any help at all when it comes to cars, and the diverse range of cars in our top ten is clear to see.
See you next month when we will have our pre Christmas "It's That Time Of The Month" until then, drive safely and have fun.
Jon Mower
