UK MARCH SALES - Dacia continues to shine bright with double digit rises.

  • Dacia car sales up 10.3 per cent in Q1 to 7,524 vehicles
  • Dacia market share of 1.1 per cent in March
  • 94.8 per cent of Dacias sold so far in 2015 were to private buyers
  • Renault Group records 33,564 UK sales in Q1 – up 17.8 per cent
After record-breaking sales in 2014, Dacia’s popularity in the UK continues to grow as the ‘no nonsense’ car brand posted first quarter sales of 7,524 vehicles – up 10.3 per cent on last year and again outpacing the growing car market which rose by 6.7 per cent.

Dacia recorded 5,335 new vehicle sales in the UK according to official figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) out today, representing a market share for the month of 1.1 per cent.  Market share for the first three months of 2015 stood at 1.0 per cent.
In the first quarter, 94.8 per cent of Dacias sold in the UK were to private buyers – giving the ‘shocking affordable’ brand a retail market share of 1.9 per cent, up 0.2 points on 2014.
The Dacia Sandero remains the most popular model in the range 4,770 of the ‘shockingly affordable’ hatchbacks being sold from January to March.
Dacia is part of Renault Group which has experienced an unprecedented period of ahead- of-the-market growth over the last two years.  This growth has continued into 2015 with 33,564 Group vehicles being sold in the first three months of the year for a market share of 4.0 per cent – up 17.8 per cent, and over double the market growth of 8.3 per cent.  Group sales in March stood at 25,195 vehicles for a 4.5 per cent market share – up 16.8 per cent on the previous year.
Commenting on the performance, Ken Ramirez, Renault Group UK Managing Director, said: “I’m delighted that Dacia’s ‘shockingly affordable’ value for money and no-nonsense approach has found so many customers this year making us the first choice ‘smart buy’ car brand.”
