UK MARCH SALES - RENAULT - The best march in five years, keeps Renault sales running higher.

Renault UK car sales in March were up 15 per cent on 2014 reaching their highest level since March 2010 according to official figures released today from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT). 
Sales of 15,868 cars in the month resulted in a year-to-date first quarter performance of 20,593 Renault cars – the best start to the year for the French car brand in five years and 16.6 per cent up on the first three months of 2014.  Renault car market share in March stood at 3.2 per cent – up 0.25 percentage points on March 2014. 

Renault’s B-segment range, comprising of the Clio hatchback, the Captur crossover and the 100% electric ZOE rose by 65.9 per cent during 2014 and are continuing to outpace the market in 2015 too – sales of the three models were up 9.2 per cent to 15,299 vehicles significantly outpacing this sector of the market.  Sales of Renault’s electric vehicle range, comprising of ZOE, Twizy and Kangoo Van Z.E., rose by 147.5 per cent in the first three months of the year compared to 2014 with 401 vehicles sold.
Renault’s strong start to 2015 also extended to its van range which saw first quarter sales of 5,477 vehicles, representing a market share of 5.5 per cent – up 36.7 per cent on 2014.  Renault van sales in the month of March stood at 4,022 vehicles and a market share of 6.4 per cent – up 43.9 per cent versus a market growth of 22.8 per cent.
The Renault Group, which comprises Renault cars, vans and Dacia, has experienced an unprecedented period of ahead- of-the-market growth over the last two years.  This growth has continued into 2015 with 33,599 Group vehicles being sold in the first three months of the year for a market share of 4.0 per cent – up 18 per cent, and over double the market growth of 8.4 per cent.  Group sales in March stood at 25,230 vehicles for a 4.5 per cent market share – up 17 per cent on the previous year.
Commenting on the results, Ken Ramirez, Renault UK Managing Director, said: “The extraordinary Renault Group growth has been fuelled by customer demand for our stunning new car and van models, supported by our dealer network’s commitment to customer satisfaction.  We are on track to deliver our GO5+ mid-term plan objectives, leveraging a showroom-full of already-successful new products, with Clio, Captur, ZOE, Twingo, Trafic and adding later this year the Renault Kadjar crossover which will further boost the brand appeal entering into an important segment of the market.”
