Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. today announced its production, sales and export figures for May 2016.

Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. today announced its production, sales and export figures for May 2016. During the preceeding months new models, refreshed and updated products were launched helping the brand to minimise the production decline that hit the company, this was mainly in the US, Japan, China and Mexico, this also gave the company a sales dip which should be rectified over the coming months with some significant new models to be launched.

1. Production

Nissan's global production in May increased 0.4 percent year-on-year to 435,938 units, the fourth consecutive month of increase and a record for the month of May.

Production in Japan decreased 2.5 percent year-on-year to 65,309 units.
Production outside Japan increased 0.9 percent year-on-year to 370,629 units, the thirteenth consecutive month of increase and a record for the month of May.
In the U.S., production decreased 3.9 percent year-on-year to 80,439 units.
In Mexico, production decreased 0.8 percent year-on-year to 69,721 units.
In the U.K., production increased 12.1 percent year-on-year to 43,175 units.
In Spain, production increased 11.2 percent year-on-year to 11,877 units.
In China, production decreased 0.8 percent year-on-year to 100,122 units.
Production in other regions increased 3.2 percent year-on-year to 65,295 units.
2. Sales

Global sales decreased 2.4 percent year-on-year to 431,716 units.

Japan:

Sales including mini-vehicles decreased 26.2 percent year-on-year to 28,678 units.

  • Vehicle registrations increased 0.2 percent year-on-year to 25,573 units.
  • Mini-vehicle sales decreased 76.8 percent year-on-year to 3,105 units.
Sales outside Japan decreased 0.1 percent year-on-year to 403,038 units.
In the U.S., sales decreased 1.0 percent year-on-year to 133,496 units.
In Mexico, sales increased 8.0 percent year-on-year to 28,819 units, a record for the month of May.
In Europe, sales decreased 1.1 percent year-on-year to 59,524 units.
In China, sales increased 3.4 percent year-on-year to 106,074 units.
Sales in other regions decreased 6.7 percent year-on-year to 61,813 units.
3. Exports from Japan

Exports in May increased 19.5 percent year-on-year to 41,321 units, the first increase in six months.
